So, I've had this Idea that's been sitting in my head for awhile. It's basically a Dramedy set in a Dark Fantasy world that slowly turns out to be a World Half Full. The two leads are an ex-Bounty Hunter who is Covered in Scars and seems to think violence is the best solution to almost every problem and a burnout mage whose idealism and frequent hallucinations and psychological breakdowns resulted in a life of poverty and being shunned. The story kicks off with them being chosen by the resident Mad God to be the Emperor and Empress of the Vestigial Empire the story takes place in. Dark Hilarity and an Awful Wedded Life Ensue.

Oh, and if you thought the bounty hunter was male and the mage was female, I have news for you.

Anyways, common themes of the story include (but are not limited to) redemption (when serious in tone), how painful dealing with politics is (especially when someone with equal power but an opposite opinion is fighting you tooth and nail every step of the way), Black Comedy (of course), and Playing With a lot of common fantasy tropes and just plain Subverting or just plain Averting many common stereotypes (for example, our beloved emporer is a definite aversion of Insane Equals Violent, since he's at his most violent (which still isn't that much considering the setting) when sane and in the prescence of his wife). It should also be noted that the protagonists' Awful Wedded Life slowly develops into Belligerent Sexual Tension, then eventually a Perfectly Arranged Marriage due to Character Development.

Anyways, anybody got any suggestions? I could use a lot of help with writing the characters (less for worldbuilding. I am good at the worldbuilding stuff) and fleshing them out, and I would also like some constructive criticism of the concept, in addition with help avoiding Unfortunate Implications (although I feel like I did a pretty good with the basic premise and the two leads).

Umm... so, I was here, I guess. If I wasn't, someone hacked my account. So, yeah.

This sounds awesome and I immediately want to read/watch/play/whatever it. The only advice I can give is try to make your insane character more than a bundle of non-sequitors and manic laughter.

Now everyone pat me on the back and tell me how clever I am!

[up] I didn't intend to. His mental illness manifests as hallucinations and emotional breakdowns. Otherwise he's actually pretty functional, if a Wide-Eyed Idealist who really dislikes his wife (for completely justifiable reasons).
