For the uninitiated... A contingent of tropers (mostly from across America) holds regular get-togethers over the Interwebs on this site called Synchtube which lets individuals, such as ourselves, open and join in text-based chatrooms within typical web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, et. al.) that allow the chat participants to view YouTube videos in synchronization with everyone else present (without even needing to set up an account)... and we've decided to use said chatrooms to play cheeseball webvideos and feature-length movies found in the public domain which stretch all the way from letters B to Z, which everyone subsequently riffs on a la MST3K.
For over EIGHT years, everybody who gets involved mostly finds good enjoymentnote in calling out tropes that are recognized in the videos and stories and coming up with jokes to fling back at whatever's happening on the screen, many of which turn into various in-jokes and running gags (a Coven Glossary is kept and maintained for everyone's help and convenience HERE) to repeat in the chat.
We're always looking for new ways to better coordinate and expand our activities and are more than happy to welcome newcomers interested in joining our gatherings.

By the by, speaking of contrivances, I strongly suggest 1983 Dutch horror film De Lift (The Elevator), which has a very nonsensical premise that sounds like sumfink out of a pulpy Stephen King short story (a sentient high-tech elevator murders its passengers), but also a very dense atmosphere. The film is on Youtube, sadly only in Dutch with English subs, but those are serviceable enough.
Not yet... I'm getting to it, today.

This is a signature. An elevator that kills people? And I thought Event Horizon was strange. This is particularly absurd. Like, My Mother the Car levels of absurd.
Okay. I hope you like it.

x3 I was just looking at that movie and thinking how it would be appropriate for here.
By the way, it's going to be a lot harder for me to make it. I just got a summer job...on evening shifts from 2-10:30 local time.
4x I've heard of that one before. Without clicking on the video, am I right to assume this is the "decapitation scene"?
Could someone tell me which BB song Rocko shared with Sean?
This is a signature. If my Youtube history is correct, it was called "After the Disco".
Eh, it's not my favorite, but it's still good. Incidentally, it sounds closer to their Shins roots, which is certainly not a judgement on its quality; it's just atypical of this setup.

This is a signature.I rewrote my review of It Follows. I hate it when I write something, then later, I have to rewrite it because I did a bad job of being concise and getting a lot of thoughts down the first time.

To answer the "what's everyone doing Saturday" question, I think I'll have to help the family prepare for a same-sex wedding being held at our house.
Which reminds me: are there any corny LGBT movies that anyone's stumbled upon and we could riff?
The possum is a potential perpetrator; he did place possum poo in the plum pot. Were you here for the last time we watched Ben and Arthur? It's one of my finds, and it got ★★★. We've seen it twice thus far, though, so I doubt it could be used again. Sean's call.
No, I don't think I was.
The possum is a potential perpetrator; he did place possum poo in the plum pot.I hope we could watch it again. It's a real treat. Very... interesting. Think of it as the gay counterpart to The Room.
I'mma be sad to miss tonight's movie, but I got an EDH game to lose.
i care but i'm restless, i'm here but i'm really gone, i'm wrong and i'm sorry, baby4x I think we've actually watched that one on three occasions already. I don't think I'd put that into consideration for a re-watch until August, when we recognize our group's third year anniversary, but we're gonna have to be weighing A LOT of strong viewing options that month, so don't take that as any kind of guarantee.
Anyway, we got more of Baywatch Nights going all "X-Files" on us right at this very moment.
Then, at the top of the coming hour, we revisit Anna Nicole Smith going all "John McClane" on some terrorists in Skyscraper.

Sean, for some reason, your summons haven't been sending me PMs.

This is a signature.Old movie, new GIF!◊
This is how you splice two unrelated scenes together. Point movie.
Well, we'll be foregoing our usual Kung Fu Friday ritual this week so we can celebrate American Independence as best we can before the 4th of July.
And this movie should be a real doozy.
A US veteran killed in action in Iraq during Operation Desert Stormnote rises from his grave on Independence Day to kill America's most unpatriotic citizens. And only Isaac Hayes and a young child can stop him! Weirdly obscure "celebrity" names like Timothy Bottoms, Bo Hopkins, and P.J. Soles flesh out the supporting cast. Keep your eyes peeled during the trailer, and you might also catch glimpse of that white guy from the climax of 'Boss Nigger'.
From the director of the Maniac Cop trilogy (a true mark of quality), here is Uncle Sam...

Speaking of Isaac Hayes, may I suggest a lousy, shitty movie he was in?
It Seemed Like a Good Idea At The Time, from 1975. True to the title, the movie is an incoherent mess, with most of the cheesy and campy clichés and jokes of those times. Besides Isaac Hayes, the movie stars Stefanie Powers and Anthony Newley (whose career - which included movies such as Doctor Dolittle - was derailed by the Garbage Pail Kids movie).

I'll have to keep this one in mind.
Anyway, it's time to stand up and salute AMERICA and its independence with Captain America and, joining him at the top of the coming hour, Uncle Sam.

Hey, my notifications are working. I'm a bit too busy, though.
This is a signature.Tape, I was okay with your movie suggestion until you mentioned that it was subtitled in Dutch.
I simply will not tolerate this.
War is God.We've watched things with annoying subtitles.
I'd be up for that movie! I love the idea.
There's an English dub out there somewhere. That's how I first heard of his suggestion a long time ago. It would just have to take a lot more searching.

SpaceWolf, did you watch the rest of the film?
