@ Sijo: I... I didn't mean to be inappropriate. Sorry, you're right - I shouldn't have asked. ;_;

@ Shota: Don't worry, you'll have one eventually. I mean, if even gonks like me have a girlfriend...

Back on topic... um... a preschool Sugar Rush show? That got me to roll my eyes. Mostly because when Disney takes a good concept and forces it to adapt to an audience of preschoolers, the result is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. *shudders* Then again, I'd take it all back if such a show sneaks some crap past the censors.

Oh my gosh, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I used to LOVE LOVE LOVE that show when I was a little kid. I got up at 7:30 every morning so I could watch it...those were the days. [lol]

I guess Sugar Rush is most apt to be made into a kids' show, but I really hope it doesn't end up all Tastes Like Diabetes and whatnot.

@Alex: That wasn't meant as a complaint! I was just explaining how these things are usually handled and that you were OK to think she was a guy; so did I. I guess I should apologize now for not being clear about that. :P

As for a Sugar Rush cartoon: Somehow, I suspect they made it with Strawberry Shortcake in mind, so I guess they could go for one. (And wouldn't it be funny if it got a legion of older fans ala MLPFIM?) wink

Has anyone visited the movie site lately? It's all advertising the home video copies for pre-order now. Discs won't come out until March, but you can get a digital copy in mid-February. I'm disappointed that it says special features only come with the Blu-Ray, though.

I saw the Products sections have been expanded a bit, with descriptions for all the mobile apps right there, and half-minute previews of every song on the soundtrack. Then on the Downloads page, I think the Mobile Graphs are the newest addition. I like how somersaulting appears to be Minty Zaki's "thing". ("EVERYONE KNOWS IT'S MINTY")

[up][up] My Rushing Candy: Racing Is Magic!!!

[EDIT: [up] I didn't even notice the bomb you dropped there. Is it going to be digitally available for all countries (without counting Japan, of course, as the movie comes out in March there) or just in the US?]

[up] Let's hope it doesn't go out worldwide. Because what's the point of the UK getting a theatrical release if it'll come out in March?

But the result can ALSO be Jake And The Neverland Pirates, which is, to me, a preschool show done well.

Sadly, Tastes Like Diabetes is required if the world is literally made of candy (and the standards and practices will have a tough job trying to make a show that supports unhealthy diets seem okay to parents). But yes, if they get some of that stuff adults like in Friendship Is Magic it could be a good show.

[up][up] Wait a sec, if WIR came out in early November in the US and in late December in Italy, then if the DVD comes out in early March I guess it might come out in April around here.

[up] Sad to say, I've never seen that show. But I hear it's a good one. The main issue I have with those shows is that the only example I can come up with when talking about them is either Dora The Explorer or Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

@ Troliolio: Trollie, are you sure you're not mixing it up with House Of Mouse? Because if MMC is what triggers your Nostalgia Filter, then you oughta be hella young.

[up][up] Yay, Handy Manny! I don't know the show's purpose in English-speaking countries, but in Italy, Handy Manny is Gratuitous English personified. The point of the Italian dub is to teach numbers, words and stuff in English. (And no, that's not how I learned English in the first place.) Still, don't be ashamed - it all makes you all the more adorable.

Er... agh! I'm 23! I'm not supposed to say that to a 15-years-old troperette!

Back on topic, there's another pun for Sijo, who seems to like those a lot. Ralph's line "no cuts, no buts, no coconuts" is retooled in the Italian dub with another rhyme, namely "nè belli, nè brutti, nè bagnati nè asciutti", that means "neither handsome ones, nor ugly ones, nor wet ones nor dry ones". Yep, it doesn't make sense, it's just a rhyme for the hell of it (and in Italian, it just sounds funny, anyway).

[EDIT: A pic that made me chuckle - Turbo's shenanigans reach their logical conclusion.]

@Alex: Peach clearly invited him in there, Mario is such a prolific multi-game celebrity of such skill he'd kick Turbo right in the boot sector if he tried anything funny with any Mario Kart.

Granted, the "no coconuts" line didn't make a whole lot of sense either.

I only saw a few minutes of it once, but I recall Manny having what might have been a Mexican accent, so I expect it could be one of those shows where they switch into Gratuitous Spanish all the time because it's the number two language in America. I hear the version of Tots TV we got had the Tot who speaks French dubbed over to speak Spanish instead for this reason.

Peach clearly invited him in there, Mario is such a prolific multi-game celebrity of such skill he'd kick Turbo right in the boot sector if he tried anything funny with any Mario Kart.
I think what you mean is, Mario is such a prolific multi-game celebrity that he can get away with doing what Turbo does with his company's blessing, taking over games that wouldn't sell enough without him.

I mean, just think about the fact that two of the main three game worlds in the movie are most often compared to Mario games. If only Nintendo had gone further with Yoshi's Safari, we might be hearing, "Dur, this movie does nothing but rip off Mario!"

No need to overanalyze the Turbo-in-MK64 pic, it just falls under Rule of Funny. Unless there's some Ben Drowned-esque ARG thing going on. Yes, I mentioned Ben Drowned in the Wreck It Ralph thread. I hope you weren't planning to sleep tonight!

As for the "no coconuts" line... I dunno, it's just weird either way.

Yeah, Handy Manny is Mexican here in the states. I even remember one Very Special Episode where he got a new tool that only spoke Spanish and they all had to get along.

You know, I wonder if Turbo Time went on to become a bestselling home console franchise and the original arcade cabinets got legions of new fans, only our Turbo never found out.

edit: Oh God, Ben Drowned. I was hoping to never hear that name ever again. The trauma...tongue

Alex: Thanks for the pun, yes I love them and I'd give you other examples from the Spanish edition of the film but my memory sucks. Just wait until the DVD comes out here (should be the same time as in the USA) and I'll check for more.

And hey, we all have our reasons for learning other languages. I originally wanted to learn English because I really wanted to read American comic books. wink But hey, it did turn out to be a valuable skill.

Regarding kids'shows, maybe I was spoiled by Sesame Street, but I find most of the later-day edutaintment shows to be boring, even condescending to their audience. But maybe that's just me. (There ARE some great exceptions, though- Jane And The Dragon is a *magnificent* show that manages to educate while also being funny, thrilling and even touching.)

Then what is the true face of BEN if he hijacked Jadusable's Majoras Mask cartidge? o.o

Clearly Mario became a gamejumper because Sonic and Mega Man were doing it too :V Jazz Jackrabbit tried, but the GBA game he hijacked was a crappy one and it didn't help his popularity :V

[up][up][up] No need to worry, See-haw (because that's the Spanish pronounciation, right? It's not See-joe, I guess). I'll wait for more Spanish puns, and while doing so, I'll do my best and come up with something interesting from the movie's Italian dub.

[up][up] You're very much not. I'm constantly seeing The '90s through a very strong Nostalgia Filter. Because the nineties are the perfect decade to live a childhood in, hands down!
