So I was surfing Youtube and I found a bunch of crack FMA videos applied to Disney songs and I thought it was pretty cool . But it got me to thinking.

I want to ask Hypothetically of someone set a visual adaptation of your work to disney songs what songs would most likely be chosen for what situations?

This would be easier if I was doing a general Jukebox Musical, but sure, why not? Let's do Always a Hero because I think Wordkeepers is way too convoluted to pull this off well.

"One Last Hope" would probably be a good song for Boysenberry. Both Phil and Boyse have has their important character traits "colorful exasperation."

A nonromantic version of "If I Never Knew You" would be a good Award-Bait Song, probably done during the filmic representaton of Chapter 36.

Prince Ali (Reprise) would make a pretty good Villain Song for the ( True Final Boss) Big Bad with some lyrical changes, but mostly the same melody and feel. Since the final confrontation is basically the Big Bad taunting Cora for being a total Xanatos Sucker caught up in an Uriah Gambit.

That's the only ones I can think up thus far, but give me some time to dwell on the Disney Animated Canon, and I'll be with you shortly with more, I'm sure.

Disney song? Wow, it's been so long since I've watched a Disney movie... Um...let's see, here's what I can think of right away:

- "Hellfire" as a good Villain Song for Inagi (given his Madonna/Whore complex [i.e. every woman is the former until she does something that indicates the latter, and she is thereafter branded as that permanently in his mind], this would play to that well). Also, he's mentally unstable, and is very...Machiavellian.

- The entire score from "Sleeping Beauty" - this film had me rapt as a little kid, and I love the score and the animation. The score, overall, would fit so well!

- "Be Prepared" - as a second song for my unstable, power-hungry villain. Scar's voice actor would fit him well, too, actually. Huh, wierd.

- "Honor Us All" (Mulan) - this...basically exemplifies my Medieval Japanese (read: a bit over the top with honor obssession) setting. Period. And it does it in style! [lol]

- "A Girl Worth Fighting For" (Mulan)- seen in one of the work's Anti-Heroes in the story when the woman he's quietly fallen in love with dies - and then someone insults her...

- "I'll Make A Man Out of You" (Mulan) for the Training from Hell undergone by the "perfect" elder brother (the one mentioned above) as a boy and young man, of course.

All of these must sound old! [lol] I haven't watched many (if any) of the more recent Disney films, and find myself far more enamored of the ones drawn and produced in the 1990s, my childhood. In addition, the writing (and the animation, in my opinion - not a big CG fan with most films, with some notable exceptions) quality has slipped a ways.

I can assure you there will be more, as I remember them. grin

@AHR

A challenge then

Check the list (http://soteh.deviantart.com/art/75-Disney-Song-Theme-Challenge-124036322) and (http://www.random.org/integers) generate a few random numbers between 1 and 75

I'll Make a Man Out Of You- Felix and Kato go through police training.

StandOut- Presto trying to get Mysti to change her mind. Heck this could be Presto's theme song.

Mother Knows Best- Fiona to to Katsuya , trying to convince him to stay in and study more instead of going outside.

Savages- The Psi and the Mundanes talk about how the other is not to be trusted

Hmmm...let's see. I love Disney!

Mother Knows Best is Lore's theme song, in a very non-villainous way.

My Lullaby is a good one for Pheiva's youth, his mother was...intense.

Everybody Wants To Be A Cat, if given a dark reprise, would be perfect for the fake Big Bad.

Cruella De Vil perfectly captures how Haro feels about the goddess Thein.

God Help The Outcasts is so very Tash and Riff's joint theme I'm amazed I didn't realize before this.

I've Got Friends On The Other Side works for Pheiva though he isn't a bad guy, he just happens to be demon spawn. Sha Ro is more likely to actually sing it though, but he's also part demon-spawn.

Dig A Little Deeper Haro would sing this during any one of her lectures to Kidda.

Go The Distance cue a flash back to the friendless part of Riff's background.

I'll stop now, I could go on forever.

Interesting idea, but while I recognize Disney songs, I don't actually know what many of them are actually called. Is there a list somewhere?

Now that I think about it, "Welcome" from Brother Bear is pretty fitting for my fanfic series Lighthouse Tales... but let's try that challenge. I may have to reach out to other works here.

"I'll Make a Man Out of You": This could probably be the theme of "Combat Education" in Wordkeepers, though calling it "Training from Hell" would be pushing it. More like "Phys Ed from Phoenix."

"Cruela de Ville": Hmmm... Possibly the Triad from Wordkeepers; they're the Girl Posse, and while I wouldn't call 'em classy, they might fit.

"Part of Your World": Possibly, an "I Want" Song for Angeline from Lit's Green Earth, in the sense that she wants to be a part of the community of great, renowed sorceresses.

"In a World of My Own": In Wordkeepers (I seem to be going to that a lot, probably because it is so huge and epic), probably fits for Sabeen, the third and probably least-threatening (Or Is It) member of the Girl Posse.

"Friend Like Me": If Nick were perkier, he'd probably sing this to Ran in Wordkeepers.

I can go two ways. To make it harder I'll only go lyrics wise, since if I just went atmosphere wise, it'd be wayyyy too easy.

  • ev'rybody wants to be a cat - aristocats: Circus troupe's night off
  • who will rescue me? - rescuers down under: Never heard this song before. If I go from it as a "who in the world would want to rescue me" I've got a nice crooning song for Pup's execution.
  • the unbirthday song - alice in wonderland: This is Travis and Garett being goofballs. I'm not even cheating with this, they have the exact same annoying subtext. I wish I was kidding.
  • can you feel the love tonight? - the lion king.: Any love duo would do, really, but...hm, if I had to pick one that fit the best...it'd probably be the summer before the story starts, with Jamie and her boyfriend.
  • go the distance - hercules: Bitch, I've got shonen running through my veins. But specifically, Nicky, part tres.
  • god help the outcasts - hunch back of notredame: Another song I have never heard. ...would it be cheating if I said it fits my gypsy character? Actually, this is Ozzie's song, in a way. It's his motivation.
  • A guy like you - hunch back of notre dame: Never heard this one either, and it won't farking load. Will have to come back to it later.
  • someday my prince will come- snow white and the seven dwarfs: Gr. This is one that snags me. I think if I had to attribute it to something, it would be the resolute patience in waiting for someone, romantically speaking parallels with Renee. Although, "my prince" probably isn't the proper words for Renee. Heheheh.
  • the bare necessities - the jungle book: This be Tweety, my main hobo man.
  • true to your hear - mulan : Don't know this one well either. Oh. Wait. I did. ...XD. BWAHAHAHAHAH. Y Halo thar Seer. How will you be seducing Demon tonight? XD. Oh man, that works too well.

So yeah, once a guy like you loads, I'll tackle that one too :P

OK, judging from it, I'd say that it's my two as of yet unnamed buggerheads, praising Sai, and trying to get him to take that extra step, cause they think he can do no wrong and is awesome like that.

I'm currently amusing myself with a mental image of pre-escape Three Eighteen singing Part Of Your World.

That would be a romantization of what actually transpires in the novel, though. While Three Eighteen is fascinated by the uniqueness of non-154's, he doesn't actually know that much about them and never considers joining them. His escape was actually an impulsive decision—someone foolishly left a door open.

  • Painting the roses red: Servants of the spoiled Sages. Alternatively, a little metaphor for certain censorship made by certain people.
  • Great Spirits: My shamans gotta represent.
  • A Star is born: I already know this one. The sudden increase of fame of the sages, although this isn't the good kind of star.
  • Sing, sweet nightingale: Just because of the actual context of the song, I can only think of my five year olds in a very boring mandatory music class I put them in.
  • Best of Friends: Y halo thar Nicky's nostalgia, and Diplo and Pup's old friendship.
  • Pink Elephants on parade: This is Rab high. Yes.
  • Once upon a time in new york city: Seer telling the various would-be travellers to suck it up.
  • Little patch of heaven: Prenn Town
  • I've got no strings: I don't care if it doesn't fit for the most part, it belongs to my Puppeteer, and my Puppeteer only.
  • I'm wishing: ...shrine
  • All in the golden afternoon : Tarana's theme.
  • Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride: I suppose saying "my beach themed episode" is cheating, but I don't care. SO THERE.
  • Strangers like me: Nicky's idolizing skills.
  • Zero to hero: Sages training music.
  • Bella notte: This is oddly...Rab romancey...
  • be prepared: Rio and Nix's coup de'tat. Rio is scar, Nix is the hyena.
  • In a world of my own: Travis's warped narcissm. Either that, or Trenton mocking Circe.
  • Why should i worry: My hobo man again.
  • Poor Unfortunate Souls: The Hospital, no other place it belongs.
  • Whistle while you work: I am picturing Gon's habit of killing people to techno...
  • so this is love: Oh, poor Nicky...
  • Arabian Nights: S'up my nomadic brethren?
  • i wonder: —snerk— Hi Shole, how ya doing, still curious? :P
  • what's this?: Rab is realizing he is not as sociopathic as he once thought he was.
  • second star to the right: Tyler's wandering sort of mentality.
  • Out there: ...well, if Riley wasn't rape-ish to begin with...
  • just around the riverbend: Tyler, again.
  • i'll make a man out of you: A more awesome training montage for mah sages.
  • one jump ahead: Puppeteer in wimp mode.
  • something there: El romanco, de summer.
  • friend like me: Seer with his insanely good marketing skills.
  • you can fly: I get the feeling that if Rab were to ever romance someone, there would be this song playing.
  • I wan'na be like you: More of Nicky idolizing, but more darkly, people like Semar grasping for überdom that they lack.
  • I wont say (im in love): Nicky, you bastard.
  • I just cant wait to be king: chibi Rab.
  • Hakuna Matata: Gon and Mai. Bros till the end.
  • a whole new world: The scribe that reveals the conspiracy to Pup.
  • beauty and the beast: Diplo and Jasper —rimshot—
  • goodbye may seem forever: Pick a death. any death.
  • baby mine: Jack before he leaves.
  • almost there : Morty, a lazy-eyed loon. Heheh.
  • long ago: Seeger my main man.

OK; Lighthouse Tales are actually pretty Disneyish in that they're total WAFF fic. So let's try those.

General series: "Welcome," from Brother Bear. Since it's about realizing that you've become part of a family, after all.

Tale 1, "Princess and Firemen": "Ever Ever After," from Enchanted. Since the story is about fairy tales, of the Fractured Fairy Tale/Fairy Derailed variety, and it also reflect's the tales' general theme of things ending up happily.

Tale 2, "Spoiling the Broth": "Nobody's Problems," from Bedknobs And Broomsticks, genderflipped. Mostly because this is the tale where the protagonist first seriously considers moving in with the family who's "adopted" him, but he's still kind of hesitant.

Tale 3, "Cleanup Crew": "Baby Mine" from Dumbo, mostly because it involves one character reminescing about his mother, whom he misses deeply. (As an aside, you wouldn't believe me how long it took to come up with a song that related to Missing Moms, in the Disney Animated "Mommykiller" Canon!)

Tale 4, "Pas de Deux": "Strangers Like Me," from Tarzan. A lot of it deals with a character (who is a serious outsider, and not a speaker of their language) explaining (in her own way) how she came to fit in with the family, and providing paralells and stuff. Minus all the romantic stuff.

Tale 5, "Scrap": "This song from Aladdin which no one agrees on the title of." This was a hard one, since it's actually the darkest of the stories. But this story delves into Emo Teen territory, hence why it gets stuck with a boring emo song. Sorry you're The Unfavorite, "Scrap."

Tale 6, "The New Recruit": "I Wanna Be Like You," from The Jungle Book, without a doubt! Because the featured character does want to be like the protagonist, though he's... not quite ready.

Tale 7, "Her Boys": "Another Believer," from Meet The Robinsons. It's about two characters who have both been huge influences in a third person's life really talking to each other for the first time, and coming to understand each other's role in her life. Hence a song that kinda has to do with convincing people.

The as-of-yet-unwritten Tale 8, "Also Doesn't Have a Title Yet": Well, I'm still thinking about it, obviously! :P

  • Mullode Gurokko - Friends on the Other Side. Unlike Facilier, he is very friendly with those evil spirits and is in good standing with them at all times.
  • Queen Anathema and Adam - My Lullaby Adam is the key to her master plan and she likes babying him and manipulating him.
  • Kurogane Amahige - Be Prepared just made him, but he is a terrifying Magnificent Bastard disguised as a bookish student.

It's sort of a running gag in Forgotten Lore that the Herald of the Outer Gods acts like a Disney villain. His theme music (in-universe, he has his minions play it for him) sounds like the tune of "Prince Ali", and I was thinking about including a short scene where he sings "Friend Like Me" with altered lyrics when trying to convince one of the protagonists to serve him instead.

As for the other characters, I haven't really though about it but I suppose one of the Disney princess songs would probably fir Zaran.

I wrote up a character for my gargoyle's fic who is very much a modern day Protestant version of Don Frollo. I even rewrote the lyrics to "Hellfire" for him. His name is Rev. Nathaniel Walters, a self appointed chaplain for Friends of Humanity. The Latin was replaced with Protestant prayers, namely the Lord's Prayer and excerpts of the Sinner's Prayer.

Choir: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Rev. Walters: O Precious Lord Jesus You know I am a righteous man Of my virtue I am justly proud

Choir: I know I have sinned

Rev. Walters: O Precious Lord Jesus You know I'm so much purer than The common, vulgar, weak, licentious crowd

Choir: My sins separate me from you.

Rev. Walters: Then tell me, Lord Jesus Why I see her dancing there Why her smold'ring eyes still scorch my soul

Choir: I am truly sorry.

Rev. Walters: I feel her, I see her The moonlight in her sable hair Is blazing in me out of all control

Choir: I turn from my sinful past

Rev. Walters: Like fire Hellfire This fire in my skin This burning Desire Is turning me to sin It's not my fault

Choir: for forgiveness.

Rev. Walters: I'm not to blame

Choir: Please forgive me

Rev. Walters: It is the gargoyle girl The bitch who sent this flame

Choir: Help me avoid sinning again

Rev. Walters: It's not my fault

Choir: I believe your Son,

Rev. Walters: If in God's plan

Choir: Jesus Christ, died

Rev. Walters: He made the devil so much Stronger than a man

Choir: for my sins, that He was raised

Rev. Walters: Protect me, Lord Jesus Don't let this demon cast her spell Don't let her fire sear my flesh and bone Destroy Angela And let her taste the fires of hell Or else let her be mine and mine alone

Guard: Rev. Walters, the gargoyle has escaped

Rev. Walters: What?

Guard: No longer in the church. She's gone

Rev. Walters: But how? Never mind. Get out, you idiot I'll find her. I'll find her if I have to burn down all of Manhattan!

Hellfire Dark fire Now gargoyle, it's your turn Choose me or Your pyre Be mine or you will burn

Choir: become my Savior

Rev. Walters: God have mercy on her

Choir: become my Savior

Rev. Walters: God have mercy on me

Choir: become my Savior

Rev. Walters: But she will be mine Or she will burn!
