Since when do fans hate Daisy? I'm not too into the Mario series, so I don't know the fandom too well, but I thought people generally liked her.

She has a pretty vocal hatedom as well as a fandom. Usually because of her "Hi, I'm Daisy!" line, her voice, her appearing only in spinoffs and accusations of being a recolour despite differences.

I figured with her newfound status of a Memetic Loser would be something to experiment on.

I do appreciate her appearing in Mario Maker despite being added four months from release.

Idea; an XCOM: Enemy Within fic where some poor redshirt squaddie dies on the battlefield...

...and wakes up shortly thereafter, in the body of an alien Cyberdisk. Played for Laughs or played for the attentant horror and squick involved? Yes.

So, after browsing The Force Awakens fic and finding almost nothing I was interested in read (so, so much Reylo), I thought to myself "Why don't I just write something I would actually read?" Radical idea, right?

Basically, I'm not really sure on the plot yet, but it is basically my vision for Episode VIII with Force weirdness put in, and stuff that I just like (Rey being a Skywalker and having a female kinda-sorta love interest, big damn duels with Dark Side users, and a subplot about a mysterious woman who turns out to be Rey's long lost mother all along).

A Jojo's Bizarre Adventure story that parodies the Mary Sue archetype. MC is a [[Shrinking Violet]] whose Stand inadvertently causes everyone to fall in love with her, EXCEPT other Stand users. And she legitimately hates every ounce of attention she gets.

Dumb story, I know, but at least I think it's a fun idea.

I was thinking of random fanfic ideas while reading Worm fanfics and catching up on stuff

And then a idea hit me pretty hard. How about a fanfic with Attack On Titan mixed with Worm? Before you wave me off just hear me out for a second. Taylor getting alternate powers in the Worm fandom is not unusual....but what if she got was pretty much Titan shifter powers? Say Emma reveals her predator prey philosophy (anyone who knows Attack On Titan might see were I am going with this) before the locker incident (or change the event that causes her to trigger entirely) and have Taylor trigger with the powers that pretty much makes Emma literal prey to her.

Yes Taylor would come out as a mindless Titan at first, go on a eating rampage, and change back to a human after eating a parahuman (likely Shadow Stalker).

Although that's were the problems with this idea starts. Taylor at that point is very much screwed. Pretty much the whole world would want to kill her (because people assume she's some kind of Endbringer in the making. Either that or comparisons between her and the Siberian of Slaughterhouse 9 will pop up). She probably would survive pretty long as the Titan Shifter powers activated from eating the parahuman (which would yield her some interesting abilities in that form) but it still simply wouldn't end well unless she were to be present in a Endbringer attack or something....

[up]Huh, that's funny I was thinking about an idea I had for a Worm fanfic when I opened this thread, then find your post at the bottom grin

I feel like the Endbringer comparison wouldn't happen due to the relative weakness of Titan's sans the rapid regeneration. Which would probably lead to comparisons to Glastig Ulaine / Butcher. Comparisons to Ash Beast seem more apt.

Although if ever a power was innately suited to the Slaughterhouse Nine...

Worm Endgame spoilers: Cauldron (And Bonesaw) may be interested in her depending on exactly how she expresses ability's from eaten parahumans. As either a weapon against You Know Who or something to have fun with.

[up]Huh really? I feel kinda better knowing that I wasn't the only one who had an idea for a Worm fic.

I was basing the Endbringer thing more off the fact that most people wouldn't know were the weakness of a Titan is (aka the nape) but I will admit I did forget that all it would take is a cape to blow off the entirety of Titan!Taylor's head to kill her. I clearly need to re-read Worm though as I keep completely forgetting about Ash Beast's existence.

I wonder how a fight between her and Lung would go though. Or one of the Endbringers. Titans can withstand a ridiculous amount of damage as long it isn't the nape. And if Taylor has control of it then it would pretty freaking scary.

And yeah I think something like this would attract the Slaughterhouse 9's attention real fast. Let alone Cauldron...

I feel like Lung versus Titan!Taylor would end up as a Lung victory. She's just going to be too immediately threatening to allow a win without already having an ability tailor made to take him out.

I don't think she would be able to hurt Endbringers too much either considering Titans work on semi-normal physics. She's likely survive unless one decided to eliminate her specifically because of her insane rate of regen. Ziz also would probably find Titan!Taylor living as a net gain to chaos in the world.

None of this prevents her from being a MASSIVE threat to the general populace and 95%> of capes. I think if she started rampaging around Brockton Bay and the Protectorate was unable to stop her a heavy hitter like Legend would be called in. A Tattletale + Miss Militia combo could do wonders though.

Of course she could always be directed elsewhere by a certain shadow-y organisation in search of firepower...

Edit: I also don't know exactly how you play to use absorption of cape powers. That will play a large role in how organisations react and fights go.

Yeah I figured Lung's powers would be able to circumvent anything she could do. Endbringers would be a problem too as the Endbringers have proven before that they are lot smarter then they look. Leviathan would just need to tear out her nape, Behemoth could just fry her, Simurgh would probably just turn her back into a mindless Titan, Khonsu could trap her. I forgot what Tohu and Bohu could do.....

Now I think about a lot of organizations in Worm would indeed be trying to catch her. Some to just simply kill her but others for firepower like you said.

Also Siberian might want a new hunting buddy. If Jack breaks her then well....

Edit: I am honestly not quite sure how I would play the power absorption thing. Considering how Titans absorption works in canon aka a normal mindless Titan biting a Titan Shifter human in half to absorb the spinal fluid I would probably have to go with the idea that she gets a power in relation to the parahuman her Titan ate.

The problem with that though is obvious. It could very well make her OP unless I impose some limits (One power at a time? Weaker versions of the powers? Hmmm....)

I'd give her very weakened versions of powers to compensate for her ability to gather as many as she wants.

For instance Shadow Stalker would allow her to phase into her shadowy form for a few seconds with a cooldown time of at least a minute.

Justify it with with cannibalizing the Shard poorly or something along the lines of that.

It would also allow her to not die the instant a heavy hitter comes after her. Or someone figures out her weakness i.e Dragon. By that time hopefully she has a power or powers that help protect her nape. Skidmark's power for one could be very useful for that.

Anybody who chances upon this post, please try to link me anything you do with these. I'd like to see them.

1. A story where every chapter details the last moments of characters like Toriel, Papyrus, Undyne, Alphys, and the like in a No Mercy run from the beginning of conversation or such up to the moment that they bite the dust. (Sorry for that). 2. A story where we look at things from Frisk's perspective during the events of the game from Neutral then to Pacifist then to No Mercy.

PLEASE DO IT WELL! And yes, I know you weren't planning to do it like shit but I wanted to say it anyway.

Help!

I'm being overwhelmed by ideas for King's Quest fanfiction!

1. Graham gets taken to a Mirror Universe and not only has to get home, but has to stop his evil counterpart from taking over his world and joins a Resistance along the way.

2. Post Chapter Two, deals with Graham getting a little lonely and looking for love and, of course setting up King's Quest 2, plans a big party and invites all the potential ladies there. It's going to be most humorous with a dash of heartwarming.

3. A story where Achaka survives and has a completely platonic relationship with Graham (seriously I've seen two fics where he lived and both were slash)

4. Another one where Achaka lives... but Graham dies instead.

5. A fic where Graham keeps the Baby Dragon he finds in Chapter Two because he either forgot it was there or more likely it followed him home and thinks Graham is his daddy. Hijinks, adorableness and awesomeness ensue.

6. A story that deals with Graham pre-Chapter One that has him at the Academy he mentioned and shows off my headcanon-until-proven-otherwise-by-subsequent-chapters that says "Graham grew up with no friends and nobody took him seriously", as a contrast to how people treat him in Daventry.

Harry Potter Elsewhere Fic idea: the central character is Charles Hunt, a burned out veteran Auror. Estranged from his wife, depressed, in the throes of alcoholism, and shunted aside in the Ministry he once served with distinction because of his personal demons and his public and vocal support of Albus Dumbledore during Fudge's smear campaign, Hunt expects to be fired by Scrimgeour's government, which is more interested in good PR than actually fighting Voldemort.

August 1st, 1998. The Ministry has fallen and Rufus Scrimgeour has been killed by Lord Voldemort. Receiving Kingsley Shacklebolt's last message, Hunt rallies the The Remnant, retreats from London, pursued by Death Eaters and the subverted agents of the new Ministry, and goes underground in Ireland. Three months later, in a daring attack, the Irish rebels attack a Death Eater base, leaving dozens dead and wounded. In a rage, Lord Voldemort charges Albert Runcorn with leading a force of Magical Law Enforcement patrolmen to travel to Ireland, root out Hunt's rebellion and destroy it.

Interwoven into this plotline is another one set in 1978: the first war is in its darkest days. Rookie Auror trainees Hunt and Runcorn are on their first assignment with Rufus Scrimgeour, charged with hunting down the Death Eater Antonin Dolohov. The two of them were the most violent and brutal Aurors at the Ministry, but while Hunt eventually became Older and Wiser, Runcorn became a brutal fascist, and the older Hunt wonders how far he will have to go to fight Voldemort.

A short while ago I'd managed to successfully map the different-yet-similar magic systems of two urban fantasy series (both of which got their start around the turn of the millenium, both of which are fantastically internally consistent and have spinoff tabletop RPGs, both of which are a lot of fun—and both of which are facing the impending end of the world via invasion by Things Which Should Not Be.).

The series are Jim Butcher's The Dresden Files and Charlie Stross's The Laundry Files, and it turns out that if you strip away most of the Dresdenverse's magic and leave only the magic of the Outsiders, then hit the "rebuild from scratch" button, you get the Laundryverse.

Which has hard-to-use but built-in provisions for shunting between universes.

The scene is set: the mean streets of Chicago, circa Ghost Story or Cold Days, just got a drop-in visitor when a warlock's summoning pentacle hooks onto something it wasn't meant to. And somewhere in the far reaches of Britain, circa Rhesus Chart, a Laundry agent responding to a Code Blue call disappears into a rip in reality.

As the agent discovers, this new world is a lot more benign than the one she left—it might actually have a chance of surviving Case Nightmare Green. So...how to phone home? And how to work her magic, 90% of which is based on her smartphone and laptop, in a world where most practitioners' skills don't play nicely with electronics?

Charlie Stross's cheerful, optimistic predictions for 2017, part one of three.

I'm writing kind of like a sequel/companion piece to Star Wars: Bloodline. Basically, the central character is an agent of the New Republic's anti-corruption bureau who wants to clean up the increasingly dysfunctional government in the weeks and months leading up to The Force Awakens. Here's the blurb that starts off the prologue, complete with the Bold Inflation from the film intro scrolls :D:

A generation has passed since the BATTLE OF JAKKU, where the NEW REPUBLIC defeated the EMPIRE in one final stand over the skies of a desert world. The Republic, charged with the reconstruction of a bloodied Galaxy, has found itself riven by factionalism and corruption. On one side, the CENTRISTS demand a stronger military and more power concentrated in the central government on the planet HOSNIAN PRIME. On the other, the POPULISTS believe in decentralizing authority to individual star systems. Human against alien, Core Worlder against Rim Worlder, friend against friend, political gridlock reigns supreme. Meanwhile, in the fringes of the Galaxy, the Republic’s authority wanes, as crime, terrorism, and a mysterious new foe gathers strength.

AGENT SARNA CORTESS, a scion of the lost world of ALDERAAN, has made it her mission to root out corruption within the Senate, but the task is proving more difficult than she imagined. Stymied by the government’s intransigent and duplicitous leadership and underfunded, Cortess finds an unlikely ally in SENATOR GARRETT VANCE of the Core World of CORELLIA, the powerful head of the Senate appropriations committee, who has taken an interest in her project.

You know, I wouldn't mind seeing a short story based Jo Jo's Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven where Old Joseph and Caesar Zeppli manage to find some time to have a private and emotional talk. Nothing too complicated. No clever battles, no ridiculous but wonderful poses. Just an old man taking the chance to try to apologize for a big mistake he made when he was just a brash child. Simple, yes, but if done well, it could be a pretty heart tugging story.

Hell, I wouldn't mind a compilation of short stories about all the conversations that might have happened in the turtle with everybody. How would Johnathan describe Dio to Girono? How would Josuke get along with his grandmother, Lisa Lisa?

Just how much stroking off would Rohan be doing in the corner? Guy gotta write with something and it's not like he brought his supplies with him.

And, the most important question of all, just how long would it be before people started going crazy because of the endless loop of "Coco Jumbo" playing inside the turtle?

[up] Isn't there already a Film Noir Star Wars series? Yeah, I think the name is "Coruscant Nights".

"Airen Cracken, Director of New Republic Intelligence, codenamed "Keeper," has grown old and sick, while around him, the grasping and greedy younger generation of spies circles him, waiting for his departure so that they can assume control. When a vital mission on the border between New Republic and First Order ends in failure, Keeper and many of his allies in the Senate Intelligence committee are forced out, allowing the ambitious Belindi Kalenda to assume command and surround herself with her cronies, her reputation with the Foreign Minister already bolstered by her work in establishing a deep cover agent within the First Order known only as "Lord Nyax." When a young senator from Corellia, the last of a vanishing upper-class Core World set, is unexpectedly made Undersecretary of Republic Intelligence, the new status quo is upended when a noblewoman from Arkanis provides confirms a dark secret: that the New Republic, far more than suffering from political corruption, has been subverted by Imperial agents since its inception, and that that traitor now lies somewhere in the heart of New Republic Intelligence."

Refined my original Star Wars fic idea. Now Senator Garrett Vance is more of a good guy, since the New Republic Senate is already so packed with the indolent and the corrupt.

Anyway, characters:

The Senate:

  • Chancellor Villecham: The leader of the NR, struggling to keep the government together, achieve his policy goals, and avoid a war with the FO he doesn't think they can win yet.
  • Senator Garrett Vance of Corellia: Rich, highly educated, and from a distinguished noble bloodline, Garrett Vance is part of a dying and increasingly irrelevant Core World Old Money set. He's young, at thirty, and thrust into a position meant for someone with far more experience. He is a political independent, but came into office as an anti-Leia candidate. As the story starts, he is made Undersecretary for Republic Intelligence, as part of the NR's Foreign Office. The Hero.
  • Senator Korsus Dura'fey of Kothlis: A Bothan and Foreign Minister of the NR. He is a stalwart of the Chancellor's faction, and the only member of the Foreign Office's Senate leadership to survive the chaos following the failure of Operation Foresight.
  • The Senate Foreign Affairs and Intelligence Committee: Fifteen senators, politically diverse. Seven members were forced to resign when a Republic agent was killed trying to help a disgraced First Order general defect during Operation Foresight.

New Republic Intelligence

  • Airen Cracken, codename "Keeper": The wizened founder and director of NRI, Cracken has lived through the years of the Old Republic and Old Empire, lived to see the war take his family, with NRI being his last legacy to the Galaxy. When a mission to Arkanis fails, the political furor forces him out of his position, and dejected, he finally dies.
  • Sedran Romar: His second-in-command and best friend. When Keeper is forced out, Sedran chooses to retire as well, as he is unwilling to serve the new regime, and is a rival of the Foreign Minister. A Mirialan. Educated at the University of Chandrila.
  • Davin Cross: Arrogant, brilliant, and refined, Cross is Coruscant personified. Educated at the University of Corellia, where he later served as a don, recruiting Rebel, and later NRI agents. A close friend of the Vance family, he was the Senator of Corellia's adoptive father when he was orphaned as a boy, and it was by his recommendation that he came to be Undersecretary. Human. The resident expert on the Old Empire. The Mentor
  • Belindi Kalenda: From Brentaal IV. Keeper's rival in NRI, Kalenda and her powerful personal lobby were able to parlay Keeper's failure during Operation Foresight into his dismissal, and her appointment to his seat. Now in command of NRI, the organization's reputation has markedly improved, owing to her mysterious source, a deep-cover agent in First Order space known only as "Lord Nyax." Educated at the University of Anaxes. Human.
  • Unwin Jarris: Once, Jarris was a minor functionary in the Imperial government, but when his superiors uncovered his embezzlement, he fled his posting on Fondor and joined the Rebel Alliance. As an agent of the NR, he is regarded as an unreliable intelligence officer but, being Kalenda's toady, his given high postings in NRI. Believed to be Onderonian. Human.
  • Victor Jenfrey: A former rebel soldier, Jenfrey has spent his post-war career masquerading as the leader of a labor union on Balmorra, and is one of the foremost experts in the service regarding the Corporate Sector and the galactic underworld. A human, he grew up on Balmorra, but studied with Sedran Romar at the University of Chandrila. Looks very rough, but is smarter than he looks. Very career-minded, and Kalenda's success has convinced him to be one of her partisans.
  • Joran Dynes: NRI's top field agent and one of Keeper's favorites. He is sent to the border world of Arkanis, a neutral planet with FO and NR factions vying for control. Seeking to bring a fugitive FO general into NR custody, and obtain a complete map of First Order territory in the Unknown Regions, he is betrayed and killed, causing political upheaval on Hosnian Prime.

The First Order:

  • Tombat: Named after a legendary thief during the early days of the Empire, Tombat is a mystery to NRI. Allegedly, he is a high ranking member of the FO Security Bureau, but aside from his existence, few know much about him. What is clear is that he has constructed a massive network of agents within NR territory, through which the government's response to the FO is being stymied, and the mole within NRI is ultimately his creature. Our Big Bad
  • Lord Gregor Kyress: The First Order's ambassador on Arkanis. A dissolute man and a womanizer, less interested in the FO's victory than in lining his pockets.
  • Lady Elissa Kyress: The ambassador's wife. Young, and married to an unfaithful man, she is disillusioned with the First Order and flees to the New Republic, and tells Senator Garrett Vance a story that confirms a long-running suspicion: that the FO has subverted NRI from within.
  • Ganus Dellian: A diplomatic attache for the FO on Hosnian Prime, posted in order to maintain peaceful relations with the NR.
