Time for another preview.

In Chapter 49 of the Doorstop, the Integrated Data Entity gets its priorities in order:

1.The Data Integration Thought Entity must survive to gather and process data. This is a time of crisis. Without sacrifices, the Data Integration Thought Entity will not survive.

2.The Data Integration Thought Entity is eternal. A threat to its existence will always be a threat unless conclusively dealt with.

3.The Data Integration Thought Entity is a single, indivisible unit. To separate it would be to jeopardise its existence and hinder its quest for knowledge through unnecessary competition.

4.The Data Integration Thought Entity is the source from which all its components draw their life. If the Data Integration Thought Entity dies, the deviant Type Seven Humanoid Interface named Yuki Nagato will die. If the deviant Type Seven Humanoid Interface named Yuki Nagato dies, the guardian of Haruhi Suzumiya’s universe will devise a method by which to return the Data Integration Thought Entity to life and then kill it again. Repeatedly.

Hi.

This is Ruin Takada, a king of obscure fanfiction crossovers. Yes, this sounds pretentious, but then again I have a few reasons to be pretentious.

'NoHoper' - A Death Note and The House Of Night (P.C & Kristen Cast) crossover. Introducing the Scientists and their mission to manufacture a vampyre cure only briefly brushed over in the first book, this is about one researcher/guinea pig, Light, who is Marked and forced to spend the next four years amongst the vampyres that he hates.

'The Art of Subconscious Illusion' - A Death Note and Main/House crossover. A mental patient claims to be Kira, and a disgruntled diagnostician has to cure him. Or be killed.

Both of these can be found on Live Journal (where I can be found as Ruin_Takada), and on FFN (as Ruin Takada).

A crossover to come:

'Ave Maria' - A Death Note and Elsewhere (Gabrielle Zevin) crossover. Light dies and is sent to 'MU' - Elsewhere. Here, he must atone for his sins, repent, and recognise what his mission has done to both sides of the River, or spend eternity in the Inferno.

Yes, very obscure indeed. Only 7 or 8 other House crossovers exist on FFN. Only 1 other House of Night crossover exists, and it's nothing compared to No Hoper. And Elsewhere crossovers? This is the very first.

Yes, I have reasons to be pretentious. Enjoy it.

Thanks, Ruin XXX

Yes, I have reasons to be pretentious.

And these reasons for attempting to impress by affecting greater importance, talent, culture, etc., than is actually possessed are...?

On an unrelated note, the new chapters might be delayed slightly - my beta-reader is otherwise occupied. If anyone feels inclined to help, then help would be welcome.

The Legend of Zelda: The Ryouga of Time

Deep in the heart of Hyrule lies a cursed forest, the Lost Woods.  These woods are said to be impossible to navigate.  Few know the true reason behind the disorienting force of the woods: the Great Deku Tree.

For centuries, this tremendous, sentient tree has watched over the forest, keeping order within.  By its power, outsiders stay out, natives stay in, and the population of monsters stays under control.  But there was one thing it didn't count on.  The effect of its power upon someone who was already constantly lost.

0o0o0

Ryouga Hibiki, age 10, had been wandering for days.  This was not unusual for him.  Like both of his parents before him, Ryouga had been born with a terrible sense of direction.  To him, it seemed like the world around him moved whenever he wasn't looking.  Consequently, he spent a good portion of his time lost.

This time, however, Ryouga had gotten particularly lost.  He suspected he was somewhere around Kyushu.  In actuality, he wasn't in Japan anymore.  He wasn't even in Asia.  In fact, Ryouga Hibiki was no longer on Earth.  He was in Hyrule.  And he was in the Lost Woods.  And he was tired and hungry.

As soon as he entered the woods, Ryouga noticed a strange feeling.  It was one he hadn't experienced very often.  It was almost as if he knew where he was going.  Even though everywhere looked the same, he felt drawn in a particular direction.  And soon enough...

"Hey!  A village!"

Ryouga Hibiki found himself at the outskirts of a village.

0o0o0

At the heart of the Lost Woods, the Great Deku Tree stirred from its slumber.  "Navi... Navi, where art thou? Come hither..."

Immediately, a small, blue fairy flew up to the tree.  Like all of the inhabitants of the Lost Woods, Navi the fairy treated the Great Deku Tree with the utmost respect.  It was, after all, the protector of the forest.

"Oh, Navi the fairy... Listen to my words, the words of the Deku Tree..." stated the Great Deku Tree.  "Dost thou sense it?  The climate of evil descending upon this realm...  Malevolent forces even now are mustering to attack our land of Hyrule..." The tree almost seemed to sigh, despite not having lungs.  "For so long, the Kokiri Forest, the source of life, has stood as a barrier, deterring outsiders and maintaining the order of the world...  But... before this tremendous evil, even my power is as nothing..."

A tremor passed through Navi.  Despite being literally rooted to the spot, the Great Deku Tree was indeed quite powerful.  For the tree to describe the evil force as such, it must be mighty indeed.  That, or the Great Deku Tree was exaggerating slightly for the sake of being dramatic.  It did occasionally do that.  Regardless, even if the tree did occasionally exaggerate, it did not outright lie.  Thus, the threat was to be taken seriously.

"It seems the time has come for the boy without a fairy to begin his journey..."  Or not.  "The youth whose destiny it is to lead Hyrule to the path of justice and truth... Navi... go now!  Find our young friend and guide him to me..."

Apparently, the Great Deku Tree was facing a threat so dangerous that only a small child could hope to handle it.  With a sigh, Navi took off.  Even if the Great Deku Tree was apparently going somewhat senile, it was still the protector of the forest, and it was important to treat it with the utmost respect.  So Navi needed to accomplish this task as quickly as possible.

In her hurry to do the great tree's bidding, Navi missed the rest of its speech.  "I do not have much time left.  Fly, Navi, fly! The fate of the forest, nay, the world, depends upon thee!"

0o0o0

Mido, the self proclaimed leader of the Kokiri, was having a good day.  He'd hit on Saria, made someone cut the grass in front of her house, made someone pick up the rocks from in front of his house, and best of all, that fairy-less loser Link hadn't been around all morning.  In fact, he was feeling so good that he was considering hitting on Saria again.  In his good mood, he almost missed it.

From the entrance to the Lost Woods, a stranger stumbled into his village.  Had he not been alert, he might have mistaken him for a Kokiri.  However, this stranger had unusual clothes, a yellow shirt and black pants, with some sort of odd pack attached to his back, as opposed to the uniform green tunics that all Kokiri wore.  He also had strange ears; they were short and rounded, as opposed to long and pointed like everyone else's.  Perhaps he'd been in an accident of some sort?  But strangest of all was his hair.  Unlike the bright colors of Kokiri hair, this stranger's hair was black as... something really black.  Clearly he was some sort of invader.  Which meant it was time for Mido the Great to put his foot down.

"Hey you!"

The stranger, who had been slouching under the weight of his pack up to this point, abruptly stood up straight and looked at him.  At which point Mido noticed The stranger was a good half a foot taller than him.  It didn't sound like much, but that's quite a difference when one is barely breaking the three foot mark.

Fighting the urge to swallow nervously, Mido stomped over to the stranger as threateningly as he could.  "Who do you think you are, coming into our village like that?"

"What?" Asked Ryouga.

"You know what I mean!" yelled Mido.

Ryouga didn't, and looked confused.

"This village is the home of the Kokiri, and visitors aren't allowed.

Ryouga's confusion shifted to despair.  "I'm sorry!  I didn't mean to intrude.  I was just looking for somewhere to rest from my travels.  I'll be going now.  But before I leave, could you point me in the direction of Tokyo?"

Mido did not know where Tokyo was.  He had never been outside of the Lost Woods, and wasn't aware of the geography of Hyrule, much less how to get to other worlds.  Nevertheless, Mido was not one to admit his flaws, so he did the first thing he could think of.

"Tokyo is that way," he said, pointing toward the entrance to the Lost Woods that Ryouga had just come out of.

"Thanks," replied Ryouga as he started walking deeper into the village.

"Hey!" yelled Mido.  Already he could tell this was not going to be a good day.

0o0o0

Navi flew into the Kokiri village.  She had never met this 'Link' character, but she had heard of him.  He was the only member of the Kokiri that did not have a fairy.  As such, he wouldn't be too hard to find.  Kokiri were never separate from their fairies.

As she flew over the village, the sound of Mido yelling drew her attention.  Looking, she saw him chasing someone in odd clothing.  Someone without a fairy.  "Bingo."

Flying over to the fairy-less child, she went straight to the point.  "I'm Navi the fairy!  The Great Deku Tree asked me to be your partner from now on!  Nice to meet you!  The Great Deku Tree has summoned you!  So let's get going... right now!"

That stopped both Mido and 'Link' in their tracks.  "What?!"

Oh great.  He's also stupid. Navi repeated herself, this time speaking slowly.  "The Great Deku Tree has summoned you.  Please come with me."

"Uh... okay," said Ryouga to the talking ball of light with wings.

Mido, on the other hand, was speechless.

More The Legend of Zelda: The Ryouga of Time

Stunned, Mido could only stare dumbly as the outsider left with the fairy.  The same fairy that had just informed said outsider that he was being summoned by the Great Deku Tree.

Him.

An outsider.

Not Mido.  Not Saria.  Not even that loser Link.  Some random moron who stumbled into the village.  It had to be a mistake.

...

Of course!  That must have been it!  There must have been some sort of mistake!  Breaking free of his bewilderment, Mido rushed to catch up with the duo.

0o0o0

Eagerly, Ryouga followed Navi.  He didn't know who this 'Great Deku Tree' was, but anything was better than getting kicked out of the village.  Maybe he'd even get a meal out of this.  It had been a while since he'd last eaten, and the local flora was unfamiliar to him.  He preferred not to put together a meal from his surroundings without knowing what he was eating.  Doing so had led to more than a few poisoned meals.

Lost in his thoughts, Ryouga failed to notice Mido approaching from behind.

"WAIT!" shouted Mido.

With a start, Ryouga spun around.  Navi just groaned.

"What's your business with the Great Deku Tree?" demanded Mido.

"Navi says he summoned me," replied Ryouga.

"He did," confirmed Navi.  "Now hurry up!  Let's go!"

Turning, Ryouga started to follow Navi through a narrow path between two rocky walls.

Frustrated, Mido fumbled, looking for some sort of excuse.  "I don't believe it!  You aren't even fully equipped yet!" Mido knew he was reaching for straws, but he didn't care.  How dare a mere outsider be more important to his leader than him!  "How do you think you're going to help the Great Deku Tree without both a sword and a shield ready?" In all fairness, it was a legitimate point.  The forest had grown more dangerous as of late.  Monsters had even begun appearing near the village.

As if they had been waiting for Mido's cue, three monstrous plants abruptly burst from the ground around Ryouga.  They looked somewhat like gigantic weeds, each ending in a humongous indigo bulb.  Which were parted down the middle by snapping purple beaks.

"Link, watch out!" yelled Navi.  Ryouga, busy dealing with the suddenly present monsters, failed to register what the fairy had just called him.  Mido didn't, and would have said something, but he was too busy running.

"Those are called-" Navi started to say, but she was interrupted by three loud thumps as Ryouga landed three solid blows on the man-eating flora, soundly dispatching of them.  "...Wow!  No wonder the Great Deku Tree wants your help!"

"Er... Actually, what does he want my help for?" asked Ryouga.

"He'll tell you himself," replied Navi cheerily as she silently amended her opinion of 'Link'.  "The Great Deku Tree is right around the corner."

"Alright."  Instead of moving, however, Ryouga stared down at the dead plants.

"Is something wrong?" asked Navi.

"No," replied Ryouga as he continued staring.  "It's just-" Ryouga's own stomach interrupted him with a loud rumble.  "Are these things edible?"

0o0o0

"Great Deku Tree... I'm back!" shouted Navi.

Ryouga held back a gasp.  When he had been told that he had been summoned by the Great Deku Tree, he hadn't actually expected it to actually be... well, a tree!  (Ryouga was not the brightest crayon in the box.)

Before him stood a massive tree, the trunk of which somehow resembled the face of an old man.  A sad, tired old man that was had lived far too long and been through far too many sad experiences.  Ryouga almost expected it to begin talking.  And then, much to his shock, it did.

"Oh... Navi... Thou hast returned..." said the tree in a tired, sad voice.  "Link... Welcome..."

Ryouga stood quietly, too stunned to speak, let alone correct the giant talking tree.  Or even process the mistake, for that matter.

"Listen carefully to what I, the Great Deku Tree, am about to tell thee...  Thy slumber these past moons must have been restless and full of nightmares..."  As Ryouga's brain rebooted, he had the distinct notion that he had just missed something important.  "As the servants of evil gain strength, a vile climate pervades the land and causes nightmares to those sensitive to it...  Verily, thou hast felt it...  Link...  The time has come to test thy courage..." Ryouga's brain hit a new stumbling point.  His name wasn't Link.  "I have been cursed..."  Navi gasped, finally grasping the depth of the situation.  Ryouga gasped as well, having just realized that he was being mistaken for someone else.  "I need thee to break the curse with thy wisdom and courage." There was a pause, and as Ryouga tried to figure out how to tell the Great Deku Tree that he wasn't this Link person, the point was made moot.

"...Wait... Who art thou?"

"Uh... Ryouga Hibiki, sir."

"WHAT?!" yelped Navi.

"Navi... It seems an outsider has made his way through the Lost Woods..." Nervously, Ryouga scratched the back of his head.  "Verily, every moment my powers weaken further...  Navi the fairy... Thou must return to the village and retrieve Link..."

"Great Deku Tree, no!"wailed Navi, on the verge of panicking.  "There's no time!  We have to help you now!  We can just get Ryouga to help instead."

"Don't I get a say in this?"

Ignoring Ryouga's complaint, Navi desperately forced her way onward.  "If I have to go get Link, arm him, and bring him back here, you might not make it!"

To the Great Deku Tree, the denizens of the woods were like children.  If it had the power to do so, it would spare Link the hardship it knew he would have to go through to achieve his destiny.  It would spare Navi the heartbreak of knowing that she was too late to save him.  And it would spare the Kokiri the grief they would feel from hos death.  But no such power existed.  Link had to leave the village, perhaps permanently, to save Hyrule.  The Great Deku Tree had to die.  And poor Navi had to go back and retrieve Link so that they could break the curse, even though it was already too late to save him.

Unless...

"Very well...  Ryouga, thou may indeed possess the power necessary to break the curse that has befallen me...  It may not be fair, but I must ask thou; dost thou have courage enough to undertake this task?"

Ryouga paused.  He was tired and hungry from his journey, and there was no guarantee that he would be able to find his way back to the village when he was finished.

"Ryouga, please!" begged Navi

If he were a smarter person, he would have considered that what was being asked of him sounded rather dangerous.  If he was a more pragmatic person, he would have asked for something in return.  There was nothing to gain from doing this for free, and he might end up hurt or worse.

But Ryouga was neither smart nor pragmatic.  He was a marial artist.  And it was a martial artist's duty to help those in need.

"Alright," Ryouga agreed.

"Then enter, brave Ryouga, and thou too, Navi..." said the Great Deku Tree, the 'mouth' of the tree sliding open to permit entry to within.  "Navi the fairy... Thou must aid Ryouga...  And Ryouga... When Navi speaks, listen well to her words of wisdom..."

For some reason, Ryouga suddenly felt that he would come regret the decision he had just made.  Ignoring that feeling, he began walking forward.

"Wait, where are you going?!" shouted Navi as Ryouga began walking to the left of the tree.  "Ryouga!"

So I was thinking about my Justice League Japan 'verse project, having a lot of trouble on who the hell I could put in the role of Wonder Woman. The main problem I was having is that her origin is a lot less flexible/repeatable/integrate-able for other characters, whereas Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, and The Flash are all pretty easy to adapt onto someone else. WW is fundamentally related to the Greek Pantheon, and I was having a lot of brick wall figuring out how I could adapt that.

Then Toonami pulled a Big Damn Heroes by reminding me of a show that a) I'm already at least semi-familiar with b) I, to varying degrees, enjoy, and c) has a plot mechanic that makes using WW a lot simpler for me.

And thus, JLJ Wonder Woman will be Kagome Higurashi.

I am so going to love screwing with the plot of that show...

Alright... I've decided to write up something based off an idea I had.

I’ve been running in these woods for what I think is an hour now. I had to find my son... But I didn’t know where to start. That damn shield knocked us all out of the castle! We were spread apart into so many directions! What are the chances of my son being in the same area as me and that shadow man?

Not to mention I keep running into these damn bugs! They just keep swarming! Well, you know what? Fuck ‘em. I exhaled my fire breath at those bugs. I liked it better when that plumber was the one in the path of my flames. At least he attempted to dodge. These bugs just fried up. Meh, didn’t really displeasure me that much. It’s nice to see those buggers burn after their bitch of a queen backstabbed me.

And speak of the devil. I saw her, trying to fly away from the woods with some of those other bugs. HAH! As if they can run from me! I ran forth and jumped on some of the dying bugs heads... So that’s what it feels like to step on people. Huh, guess that plumber was just as sadistic as I am. BAH! Enough thinking about the past! I have a queen to kill!

CHRYSALIS!” I roared at her as I plunged towards her. Chrysalis was definitely in no mood to fight. She tried to fire her beams at me, but I swatted them away. She’s not as powerful as when she was sucking all the love off that horse. Perfect for someone like me. I retreated into my shell and spun around rapidly, propelling my movement to the queen and shredding her two buggy guards. As soon as I was within touching range, I got out of my shell, impaled my claws into the queen, and then put all my momentum towards the bottom. If she makes it out of this, she’s still gonna feel it in the morning!

My name is Bowser Koopa, and I hunt Changelings.

If you need a female anime warrior with ties to Greek mythology, you always can use Aquila Yuna from Saint Seiya Omega.

SCM: Despite having recently found a crapton of manga and reading through them (finished Vandread today, will start on Cyborg009 tomorrow), I have not gotten around to Ranma One Half yet, and I currently know literally nothing about it other than that Ranma has a Gender Bender curse activated by water. And something about a panda.

Napoleon: While I thank you for your suggestion, again it's a little problematic in that I know about as much about Saint Seiya in general as I do Ranma One Half - in SS's case, that it involves celestial warriors related to the Zodiac and there's a lot of High-Pressure Blood.

There is one absolute rule regarding all characters I could potentially use, though (aside from being from an anime, manga, etc.), and that is that the primary setting of the work of origin must be modern-day Japan, or approximately such. Even though most of the action in Inu Yasha takes place in the Feudal Era, Kagome starts out in the modern day, hence why she's available.

My current plan for Kagome is based on the canon fact that she's a reincarnation of Kikyo, and for some reason that means that the Sacred Jewel of Four Souls has been embedded in her ribcage since birth for apparently her entire life up to its removal in the first episode. While that doesn't make a lot of sense, I choose not to question it because a) it's just a show and it works for the sake of the plot and b) if being the reincarnation of a priestess can give you a mystic jewel in your body, then to me, it logically follows that being the reincarnation of Queen Hippolyta - the first Wonder Woman - should give you the powers involved with being Wonder Woman, even if the iconic gear doesn't come with it.

Is it just me, or does the title music for Earthbound Zero sound very similar to background music for Twilight Town?

Justice League Japan should contain the following:

  • Replacing superman we have Goku, at a point of time where his power level was "merely" Over Nine Thousand instead of being game-breaking.
  • For Batman we have Zero, or alternatively L if you'd rather have Zero as a villain.
  • Replacing Wonder Woman... well, I was thinking Saber but I guess Kagome would work too.

And since there are about a gazillion incarnations of the League, trying to match counterparts beyond this would would be an exercise in futility, so I would just pick guys that I liked writing. Personally my team would consist of Wild Tiger, Barnaby Brooks Jr., Vash the Stampede, Homura, Negi Springfield, and Kamen Rider OOO.

For my incarnation, the lineup is

I previously considered having Puella Magi Madoka Magica also be in the shared 'verse and having Madoka, Mami, Homura, and Sayaka as Pink Arrow, Ochre Avenger, Hourgirl, and a Red Lantern respectively... but I've since realized that even with Getter Robo having happened in The '70s of the shared 'verse, PMMM is way too dark to fit when I'm doing the collective verse in the style of a reconstruction. As a result, the PMMM aspects will probably relegated to either a parallel universe ("Earth-2") or an Elseworld. A few characters might escape and become refugees in the main world, though.

[up] Alternatively they could be with Shirou Emiya as part of the Justice Society of Japan, being mentored by Jack Rakan, Tsunade, Whitebeard, Simon the Digger, and the Pokemon Special version of Professor Oak. The ongoing metaplot would involve Simon and Jack Rakan declaring war on the Incubators after discovering that Magical Girls turn into witches, and dragging everyone else along for the ride.

After all who better than to turn a deconstruction into a reconstruction than two people known for punching causality in the face?

One overarching rule: to be included in the shared multiverse, I'd prefer that a series take place in the modern day, defined as "between the 90's and now or the near future". Anime/games/whathaveyou that take place in other eras can be part of the backstory, though, like having Getter Robo in The '70s.

In the PMMM thing I had in mind, Atrocitus created the Red Lantern Corps because of the Incubators doing to his world what they're now doing to Earth, and then the Manhunters destroyed what was left in their efforts to stop the Witches. Atrocitus is otherwise his Noble Demon comics incarnation, but the rings themselves are their Lighter and Softer animated series version.

In the JLJ verse, Ryoma Nagare serves as the mecha pilot who punches causality in the face, although Kamina also serves as a Blue Lantern on the frontier.

Time Travel is fine, provided you can make it work. I'd say that Time Travel makes One Piece viable, but not so much Naruto because of its thrice-damned anachronisms. The setting acts like faux-fuedal Japan, but it has TV, electricity, trains, and a bunch of other crap it really shouldn't.

Rurouni Kenshin and Sengoku Basara, as examples, are absolutely viable with Time Travel.

Are you interested in taking up this JSJ to my JLJ, then?

Maybe? I was already planning my own JLA sort of story that was crossing over everything from Code Geass to Homestuck, but I was a little stuck because I ran into some major plot holes.

I guess if I'm going to do a JSJ story, I should probably decide on the characters I'm going to focus on so that we don't have any conflicts.

  • New Wave
    • Madoka Magica: Pink Arrow (Madoka), Ochre Avenger (Mami), Hourgirl (Homura), and Red Lantern Sakya
    • Fate/Stay Night: Man-At-Arms (Pre-Fifth Grail War Shirou Emiya)
    • Homestuck: Karkat Vantas
  • Old Guard
  • Villains

I'm not exactly sure whether this is supposed to place in the rebooted DCU or not. If it isn't then the group could have been inspired by the JSA.

I'm also not sure if Madoka had become a magical girl at this point, though if not I'd need to make up a reason that she's trained in archery and stuff. Her reason for being a hero is simple enough; she wants to help Mami and/or Sakaya defeat Witches. The tricky question would be answering where she gets her crime fighting gear.

Each prospective universe within the Multiverse has its own separate cosmology to fit the series used in it. For example, JLJ (Earth-1) has both Spiral Power and Getter Rays. However, Negima magic is collectively called "Earth-style", as opposed to Midchildan-style and Belkan-style magic. There is no Holy Grail or any Nasuverse elements in Earth-One, nor do Incubators exist. However, Earth-2 (JSJ) can have separate rules to accommodate the shows that it includes.

For the Madoka Magica characters other than Sayaka, there superheroing was related to being a Magical Girl. It was also meant to be in one of the time loops long before what we see in the series - Madoka would be powerful enough to hurt Walpurgisnacht, but not powerful enough to take it on by herself. Red Lantern Sayaka can't turn Witch, because instead of a proper Soul Gem like the others, her soul is a Red Lantern ring that Atrocitus gave her earlier. Of course, that's merely how I envisioned it when I was still planning to include PMMM in JLJ. For your JSJ, though, you're free to do whatever floats your boat. I still ask that Sayaka be saved somehow out of personal preference, though.

Ah, separate continuities, that makes sense.

Of course there could be a plot twist that the Incubators DO exist in Earth-1, they're just much better at hiding. But we'd need to establish the settings before we can try a crossover with our own works.

And who is the name "Orche Avenger" supposed to be based on?

As for Sakaya: yeah, I was actually thinking that she didn't become a magical girl in this timeline, but someone (either Homura or Atrocitus), convinced her to become a Red Lantern instead. Either way now that Jack Rakan and Simon the Digger are involved, the time loops are probably going to end a lot earlier than canon.

If the Incubators did exist in Earth-One, they wouldn't be pulling the same crap as in PMMM because they'd be making use of Spiral Power and/or Getter Rays instead, both of which can explicitly break the laws of physics.

And even if they were making Witches, the Green Lantern Corps would find out and crack down on them about it. 2814's GL in particular would have a Goldion Crusher with their name on it.

Back in the 30s, there was a Badass Normal vigilante called Crimson Avenger. More like the Green Hornet than Batman, though.

Atrocitus saved Sayaka in a Witch's Barrier, gave her a ring (though he never mentioned its powers, just told her it was a good luck charm), she contracts and becomes an immortal Magical Girl, but her soul goes to the ring instead of a gem, and because the ring can't become a Grief Seed, Sayaka is un-Witch-able.

...but I already said Simon exists, so Spiral Energy probably also exists. But then again the Incubators might not want to use it because of that whole "Spiral Nemisis" thing.
