YMMV: Freddy vs. Jason
  • Base Breaker: Lori Campbell. Some think she's among the worst Final Girls in the series, if not the worst, because of Monica Keena's notoriously poor performance and the character being a very shallow stereotype. Others think she's a very brave and likable girl who manages to become a Badass at the end.
  • Big Lipped Alligator Moment: When Freddy enters Lori's dream about the others wanting to sacrifice her, disguised as her father, to french kiss her. No reason why he's disguised as her father and no mention of the events of that dream from either of them.
    • Why is he disguised as her father? Just to add another level of Mind Screw. It adds to her fear and that's what he's all about.
  • Complete Monster: At the end of the day, as Freddy learned, Jason is always going to be a traumatized, disfigured little boy acting out over the loss of the one person who cared about him, while Freddy has always been a twisted psychopathic child murderer who prolongs the suffering of his victims for his own pleasure.
  • Cult Classic: Being a crossover film featuring two iconic horror villains does that.
  • Epileptic Trees: The film's ending generated a lot of Wild Mass Guessing; Ken Kirzinger(Jason's actor) mentioned in the commentary that a fan had asked him if the ending represented Jason going to Heaven.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: Most people watch this film just for the fight, ignoring the forgettable humans entirely.
    • It doesn't help that each character's name is only said a few times (if at all).
  • Moral Event Horizon: Setting Jason on Springwood was bad enough, molesting Lori with a tongue kiss was more disturbing, but Freddy shows how depraved he can be when he reveals not only did he kill her mother, but afterwards decides to rape Lori before killing her as well.
  • So Cool It's Awesome: Freddy Krueger fights Jason Voorhees. Best. Idea. EVER!
  • Spiritual Successor: Or is it Spiritual Predecessor? In November 1984, Fangoria magazine ran a 5-page color comic strip entitled "1st Fangoria Splatterbowl," by comic artists John Arnold and Linwood Sasser, wherein Michael Myers took on Jason Voorhees and Leatherface.
  • Squick: Freddy kissing Lori in the form of her father, complete with sticking his tongue in her mouth.
    • Freddy lifts Lori's skirt with a clear intent to rape her.
  • Take That: During an episode of Nick Cannon Presents Wild 'N Out on MTV, Kelly Rowland accepted a "Thanks For Nothing" award for Freddy vs. Jason. Although the skit intended to poke fun at some actors' more embarassing projects, Kelly accepted her "award" with a one-line Take That:
Fifty million opening week, thank you, ladies and gentlemen.
