WMG / Scoob and Shag

Go To

The person in the Mickey costume is Goku

Jossed.

The "Anti-Ballyhoo" is going to empower the most memetically hated toon of all time: Scrappy Doo.

SpongeBob can hear the voices as well.
According to a post made on the creator's tumblr, characters who are the first ones people think of tend to have a lot of Ballyhoo in them and are also able to hear the voices. SpongeBob's happy-go-lucky act isn't because of his, well, bubbly personality. It's how he copes with the voices. This also explains the disconcerting look Betty Boop gives him. It's not that she was put off by his cloudcuckoolandish personality, she's just genuinely worried for his mental health.

Velma will be a final boss of sorts.
After all, she's probably not that happy that her efforts to keep the group away from Ballyhoo went south.

The reason Shaggy is losing control of himself in the fight with Ger is due to his Brave state from Legend of the Phantosaur taking over.
Since Shaggy was shown taking out an entire gang of bikers in the movie, it makes sense that his Brave state would be a bit of a Blood Knight.

That syringe that JFK just injected himself with is full of meme power. In order to combat this, the Inspector must utter the dreaded double Bs and channel the power of high-quality rips. (crack theory)

The reason why he's afraid of doing that is because he will get possessed by SiIvagunner.

  • Jossed. Meme power is never even brought up or referenced during the fight with JFK. However, it could be possible that memes and their effect on Toones could be a potential future plot point if the comic ever wants to go down that route.

Goku will eventually appear, but his personality will be that of his Abridged counterpart.
Because what would fit better in a series about crazy exaggerations of famous characters than a crazy exaggeration of one of the most famous characters of all time?

Bugs, Mick and Scoob have blessings similar to Dee's.
Bugs' eyes glow magenta when we see him disguised as a woman, Mick's eyes glow red instead of white when he uses Power, and Scoob's Ballyhoo is explicitly pointed out to be cyan. "Twilight" also mentions that they have siblings who are already involved with the Toones and their conflict, so there's probably a red and cyan titan out there as well
  • Confirmed. In #127, Scoob calls upon Illapa's power to get their full blessing and Illapa is a cyan god similar to Twilight but with electric powers. Wherever Mick is involved with a red one or if a yellow exists (to complete the CYMK colour theme) has yet to be confirmed.

If Shag inherits Jump Cut, he will rename it Director's Cut

All characters are important in some way.
For example, Daffy Duck and Bart Simpson are considered to be quite popular yet so far, we've only ever seen them in a comedic page. Daffy Duck due to his reputation as Bug's rival surely must be on par with Bugs in terms of power and Bart Simpson, being son of one of the commanders would surely inherit his father's power to some degree.

Another would be the first Antihoo monster we see in the series, so surely the Jetsons would be mentioned again due to George Jetson being corrupted by Antihoo.

  • The first Antihoo monster Scoob encountered was Barney Rubble, not George Jetson. George's face can be seen on a Missing Persons poster later in the series, though.
  • Ballyhoo power probably can't be inherited. However, the fact that they're from the same show and are in the same episodes means Bart (and, by extension, the rest of the family) has roughly the same amount of Ballyhoo power as Homer. It's just that Homer has more.

Several other memeworthy powerhouses may appear in future chapters.
Considering that Scoob and Shag has Shag's Channeled Stage basically serve as a version of Ultra Instinct Shaggy, it's likely that he might other characters like Goku, Superman or Shrek who are all considered quite powerful either canonically or memetically. Shag will have to fight all of them at some point in future chapters for varying different reasons.
  • Shrek himself could have All Star as his Ballyhoo, which allows him to summon the strongest Toones to fight alongside him.

Mick will turn out to be a Disc-One Final Boss.
Though Mick himself is built up to be the main antagonist now, it's clear that other villains exist such as the Martian Queen or morally ambiguous characters such as Twilight and Illapa who also seem important. Perhaps it's possible that his brother Oswald created the Antihoo due to his own resentment and that Mick's desire to rid the world of both Anithoo and Ballyhoo was originally due to Oswald wanting to use Antihoo to destroy the universe? When Oswald failed, he embraced the Ballyhoo and in contrast to Mickey's Power has Missing Episode, allowing him to flat out trap his enemies into a void that erases them from existence.

Modern cartoon characters may appear soon.
Page 125 (Retreat) has Hop Pop, Soos and Sadie as prisoners who've been freed by the Mystery Crew and their shows originated in the 2010s-2020s. With that mind, it brings a lot of possibilities for hero and villain alike to appear.
  • Steven Universe for example could have a Ballyhoo called Diamond Edition or Rose Tinted (the former two referencing Steven's canon identity) or Box Office Bomb/Hiatus (the latter two referencing the Steven Bombs and the long hiatuses the show had because of them).

At some point a Toone will go public in an attempt to harness more Ballyhoo

Mickey killed Minnie as a sacrifice to Twilight's red sibling
A scene shows Mickey trapping a fly in a Microwave and turning the appliance on. He then sees a strange landscape filled with red liquid, before seeing a despondent looking Minnie Mouse reflected on some glass. Minnie is also shown wearing a Command uniform yet has never been mentioned by anyone so far despite her apparent rank.

The landscape Mickey sees is identical to the one Dee meets Twilight in. Mickey sacrificed Minnie to the "red" Twilight in order to gain its power. Microwaving the fly reminds him of the awful thing he did, which is why he lets it go.

After the Martians are defeated, there shall be a war of the Gods. Or all 3 Gods are forced to put aside their differences to fight a final threat.
We know that there are powerful gods who have agents, which Dee is told by Twilight. Bugs Bunny is seen with pink eyes post-Time Skip. #127 confirms that Scoob and Shag are agents of Illipa, though its agenda is currently unknown. Considering that both of them fit the CYMK color theme and Mick's eyes would fit into a RGB colour theme, perhaps there will be war of the gods in a future story arc and that several of the characters we've already seen might be working for some of the gods.

Alternately there will be no war of the gods and instead, they must band together to defeat the final antagonist who could be the embodiment of Antihoo, a corrupted Shag or Mick's brother Oswald or some other unknown threat. So far confirmed:

Could appear in future

Ballyhoo Speculations

  • Bojack Horseman: Dramatizationnote Can power up other Ballyhoo powers, making their effects more "dramatic".
    • Perhaps being able to amplify anything, not just Ballyhoos.
  • Crusader Rabbit: Rabbit Earsnote Super-Senses.
  • Fillernote  — The user distracts the enemy by either sending them to pocket dimensions filled with enemies or by lengthening the duration of other Ballyhoos. Great for stalling time.
  • Graveyard Slotnote  — The enemy is trapped in a state where they can only exist in a certain timeframe for a few hours before disappearing, ensuring that their Ballyhoo supply is gradually drained, eventually leaving them powerless and eventually dead.
  • Drew Pickles (all Ballyhoos reference his character in The Barney Bunch):
    • Queer Coding note  — Brainwashes characters of the same gender into loyal servitude to the user, making them more suggestible to the user's commands. The brainwashing either wears off after enough time or if the user is defeated or killed in combat.
    • Gay for Pay note  — The user is a Charm Person who can make a enemy of the same gender attracted to them.
    • Uncensored & Uncut note  — Drew Pickles unsheathes his uh... mastadonic pork club, much to the horror and disgust of his enemies before either bum-rushing them or beating them to death depending on their gender.
  • Eric Cartman: Parental Controlnote Punishes the target for having undesirable ideas by electrocuting them for having them, both as a reference to the movie and fitting his sadistic personality.
  • Gertie the Dinosaur: Remasternote Healing Hands.
  • Jotaro Kujo: Pause.
  • Oswald the Lucky Rabbit: Corruptnote  — Inflicts The Corruption via infecting his enemies with Antihoo, eventually preventing them from using their own Ballyhoos.
  • T.J. Detweiler: Adaptationnote Adaptive Ability.
  • Preview note  — Prophetic flashes of future events. Accurate, but prone to Prophecy Twist. User may not be able to control when it activates.
  • Steven Universe:
    • Diamond/Special Edition note  — Steven can heal his allies while also strengthening existing Ballyhoos or upgrading them into stronger variants.
    • Rose Tinted note  — Dulls the edge of painful memories by strengthing positive memories.
    • Box Office Bombnote  — Turns an enemy into an Action Bomb, with the explosion being as strong as the enemy's Ballyhoo or Martian Arts.
      • Perhaps also being able to summon boxes and office supplies?
    • Hiatusnote  — Traps a single foe in a mental "Groundhog Day" Loop that freezes their body while time flows normally for others around them.
  • Hate-Watchingnote  — The user derives their power by watching a Ballyhoo user they despise, becoming more powerful for every mistake and failure their enemy commits.
  • Strong Bad: Stream/Torrentnote Making a Splash.
  • Animation note  Able to make inanimate objects move around. Depending on power level, animated objects may be controlled like puppets or may be able to take orders and act on their own.
  • Cancellation note  — The user shortens the enemy's life either by several days (episodes) or years (seasons), allowing them to choose how long the enemy has to live.
  • Dub note  Able to make the language coming out of people's mouths any language the user desires, though the victims will be granted the ability to understand it while they're affected. When evolved, the user could make each victim do a different language.
  • Fast Forward note Super-Speed
  • Flashback: Able to show others the past.
  • Mute: note  — The user forcibly prevents the enemy from speaking, renders them temporally deaf or shuts off their Ballyhoo.
  • Remote: Mind over Matter.
  • Rewind note  Reverses things which recently happened to the target (for example, could be used on someone who has just been injured to restore them to their uninjured state, or could be used on someone injected with Antihoo serum to remove it from their system). Alternately, rewinds history itself, but allows the user of the Ballyhoo to retain memories of what happened during the erased future.
  • Split Screen note : The user splits into two halves, with each half possessing different facets of the user's personality.
  • Subtitles note  The user makes either their own words or someone else physically visible to read. A more unscrupulous user can outright alter them to intentionally mistranslate someone's words or make their enemies look untrustworthy and incompetent.

The Red Titan's name
Will be "Supay", after the Incan death god. Mick is the main villain, and basically has the power to kill people just by looking at them, so it'd be appropriate.

There will several new and returning characters introduced when the heroes make it to Mars.
  • Biker Mice from Mars: The main characters come from Mars, though if they're anything like their canon counterparts, they'll probably be fighting against the main characters due to their show involving them fighting invaders from a foreign planet, and the Toones being against the Martians.
  • Duck Dodgers: Daffy Duck will be far more prominent, having starred in a TV show aired there and will likely oppose the Martians but also Bugs Bunny due to their vitriolic relationship. Queen Tir'ahnee will likely star as an Arc Villain alongside Mick and Homer Simpson with Martin the Martian as her top henchman.
  • Invader Zim: Zim will likely be working with the Martians as one of their scientists.
  • Steven Universe: Steven and the Crystal Gems are part of a rebellion against Mars's current ruling class, as reference to how their show had them fight against the Great Diamond Authority, a triumvirate of tyrants who control Homeworld through oppressive rule.
  • The Simpsons: The Mars arc will likely shine more light on Homer's character, revealing why Bart was on Earth and that he and Bugs have a score to settle.
  • The Transformers: It'll likely be limited to just Optimus Prime and Megatron, the former trying to restore order to Mars while the latter wants to tear it down and rule over Mars himself.
  • Martian Manhunter, though he probably wouldn't be a Martian as the Martians are the Looney Tunes variety. He would be a Toone but have a Meaningful Name anyway as a hunter of Martian men.

In addition, the chapter might even have a reference to Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders or Muppets from Space.

The series takes place in the future.
Characters from more recent shows appear in "Retreat." Considering animation as a medium is banned entirely, this ban would have to occur after their shows were able to air. (Of course, this is all assuming their shows aired in this universe and they have Ballyhoos.)

Shag doesn't have a Ballyhoo...
Because he hasn't been watched yet. The older Shag was presumably around while Toone was still able to broadcast to Earth, and as such he got enough Ballyhoo energy to unlock Jump Cut. Our Shag can only unlock his Ballyhoo if the world gives him enough Ballyhoo energy to awaken it.
  • In addition, thanks to his human friends during his time as Norv, he may have some small amount of Ballyhoo energy.
Scoob and Shag takes place in a dystopian future based on ours.
One of the minor background gags is that the movie industry is oversaturated with A.I movies, and several characters use slang consistent with the 2020s. This implies that at some point, A.I took over Hollywood hence why all the movies are so mediocre. That's before the planetary wars much like how there has been wars going on in our world over the past few years, or how there are conspiracy theories that the world leaders are being run by a sinister power, who just happens to be the mascot of Disney.

We don't even know if Disney exists in the Scoob and Shag universe but if it does, it could be possible that Mickey Mouse went renegade at some point from his corporate masters and decided to start his own conglomerate power hence why he's the leader of the Toone faction.

The Titans/Old Gods are based on The Mane Six from My Little Pony Friendshipis Magic
Mostly based of surface level "evidence" (I.e. "this looks similar" and "this reminds one of this"). Take the following with a grain of salt.
  • "Twilight" lines up with Twilight Sparklenote . Evidence being the following:
    • They shared main color, being Purple.
    • "Twlilight's" cloud-like scarf possesses similar star shapes to those on Sparkle’s cutie mark.
    • Their "earrings" are similar to the royal sister’s cutie marks.
    • Sparkle’s personality and role as a teacher of friendship in later seasons does line up with "Twilight’s" interaction with Dee.
  • "Illapa" lines up with Rainbow Dash
    • Both share similar main colors and the lightning bolt motif, as well as being connected to weather/storms.
    • "Illapa"’s insistence on/request of Scoob’s fidelity is very fitting with Rainbow Dash’s role as the Element of Loyalty.
  • The Red Titan associated with Mick could be based on Applejack, though this is a lot more shaky since they haven't been seen in detail much.
    • Both share a connection to the color red.
    • In #108, when they're first seen, the figure can be seen with red circular earrings. These could be apples, though it's possibility that they were just rendered with low detail due to the distance.

If any toys from Toy Story show up, they won't be toy-size.
Same goes for characters from the LEGO Movie franchise.

Any random background characters from cartoons have just as much Ballyhoo as they do Antihoo.
This is because the audience is apathetic to them, so they are equally liked and disliked. In addition, recurring background characters have more Ballyhoo and Antihoo than one-off background characters do with the exception of, say, the recurring couple from Mystery Incorporated who mostly show up in the Cold Opens.

The variants of each character in What If…? (2021) are being played by a single Toone.
As in, Tony Stark (a Toone) playing the variants of Tony Stark from that show. Tony Stark from any other animated shows would still exist. Of course, Celestial Peter would not be played by the same Toone as the other two versions of him. This extends to Toy Story 2: All the Buzzes are being played by a single Buzz, including from the video game Rex plays at the beginning. Buzz from Lightyear and Buzz from Buzz Lightyear of Star Command would still exist separately. Meanwhile, every version of Mystery Inc. exists, which I'll elaborate on in my next WMG.

Scoob is the version from Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!.
So are all the other members of the gang (except the Shaggy clones, who are clones of SDWAY Shaggy). This explains why Scoob's so powerful: As the original, the love for all the other non-live-action (saying it this way so you can see the implications for other characters - there's no live-action version of Scoob himself)) versions of him (as well as the hate, with the exception of versions that are hated because they're too different from the original) is given to him. Meanwhile, each version exists independently and still gets the love (and hate) of the particular version they are.
  • Each version is, in fact, a genetically modified clone or child of the original (or any other prior incarnation). As each version is genetically unique, each would have their own Ballyhoo or at least potential Ballyhoo (though they'd probably be similar Ballyhoos unless it's a wildly physically different version), as Velma is universally despised.
  • The Velma versions are genetically modified clones as a Take That! as well as to explain the major physical differences.
    • Penny from 2019's Inspector Gadget exists, possibly as a daughter of the original.
    • For the "child of the original (or any other prior incarnation)" idea, there's a lot of juniors.

If a Toone plays enough roles and the characters they play are popular enough, it's very possible for a Decomposite Character situation to occur.
For example, Mick is based off Mickey Mouse who has starred in many cartoons over the years, and is one of the most well known cartoons in the world. However, his Steamboat Willie incarnation ended up being popular due to his cartoon becoming public domain, and the various opportunities it created. This would likely mean that when a Toone gains enough Ballyhoo based on the characters they've played, the character may split from it's original self and take on a life of its own, complete with their original personality and history (e.g Mick and Steamboat Willie!Mickey, Daffy Duck and Duck Dodgers, Bugs Bunny and Big Chungus etc) or if various versions of the same character are considered distinct enough, they each can become their own individuals (i.e Ben Tennyson from the original Ben 10 or any of its sequels/reboots or Steven Universe from Steven Universe and Steven Universe: Future).

Naturally, Mick is all too aware of the absolute chaos this could cause to the Toones, and has taken ruthless measures to make sure this never happens. He may've ordered his fellow Commanders to be vigilant of their Ballyhoos to prevent any characters they've played into splitting off from their main selves, and the Shag clones may've been created as an attempt to understand if this phenomenon can be understood and possibly controlled.

Inversely, if a Toone plays enough roles, and one or more of them are hated, those roles could emerge as an Enemy Without.
At best, the unpopular version of a character may become an Enemy Without due to the high amounts of Antihoo used to create it, representing everything that was hated about that version of the character, with their negative traits undergoing Flanderization due to how they were perceived; this would cause their original incarnation to become ill due to the Antihoo tearing themselves out of it's original self. (e.g Velma's version of the character separating from Velm or Bugs and Ace Bunny etc) At worst, the unpopular version of the character is unable to separate properly and either engages in Demonic Possession and eventually corrupts the host into an Antihoo monster, or poisons their original self to death if corruption isn't possible. Alternately if the Antihoo selves do manage to separate from their original self and their Antihoo is high enough, the unpopular character is unable to maintain their form and becomes an Antihoo monster before going berserk and trying to kill their original self and everything else in it's way.

CGI characters are also real
Because why not? We've already got a lot of traditionally animated characters, some computer-animated characters, and a puppet.

Toon Physics work on Toone

Eponymous characters have more Ballyhoo energy
Because of the brand recognition. This especially applies to when it's a single eponymous character for the whole show.

Brainiac is on Mickey's team.
Mickey's Arc Symbol rather resembles Brainiac's forehead thing, just without the lines.

The public domain will be referenced or mentioned at one point in a future story arc.
The ultimate fate of all copyrighted I.Ps is to become a part of the public domain, allowing these works to be freely used by anyone. In-universe, they represent characters who have lived so long that they've Ascended to a Higher Plane of Existence, leaving behind the idea of themselves to inspire future generations. Naturally, the idea can be used to create a new incarnation of the original Toone for good or evil purposes until the new Toone themselves either die or become public domain. Alternatively "public domain" may be an in-universe Fantastic Slur used against characters who don't support a particular side in the Toone-Martian war, are homeless refugees or are neutral parties focused on their own interests.
