YMMV / Scoob and Shag

Go To

  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: #59 and #63 count, being gag comics in the middle of the Scoob Rescue arc. #63 in particular, as it involves charactersnote  that don't show up again (though they had appeared in the last panel of #54 as well as appearing in #42) and are barely even mentioned yet, spoilers as of this writing. #16 also counts, as it doesn't have any connection to the prior strip or the next strip. The panel most worthy of this YMMV trope thing is the final panel: Scoob looking realistic while the background looks the same.
  • Funny Moments: Plenty of it, back when it was a simple gag-a-day comic:
    • Hell, when you see Scoob spitting mayo out of his mouth when you first see the webcomic, you know it's going to be funny (for the most part and awesome).
    • While watching Five and Dee's fight, Chowder laughs at the idea that anyone could be stupid enough to think someone running right at them could be anything but a trick. Cue Yoge looking away awkwardly.
    • Ev's response to the truth about "Norv" and his life.
Ev: And honestly, a lot of that didn't make any sense. Just really unnecessarily complicated for no reason.
    • The reveal that the Toone's national emblem the original Shag designed really is just a dick is a joke 128 issues in the making and now retroactively serves as a glorious Stealth Insult towards Mick and the rest of the Toone faction.
    • In chapter 136, Mojo Jojo explains that the robot sentry they found doesn't have power, and that there's no energy source on Earth to charge it. Mojo being Mojo, he explains this in his usual, long-winded and very repetitive way, which takes four panels and would have probably continued for way longer than that. Scoob casually walks in while munching an apple, charges the robot by using Channel, and leaves.
    • Chapter 137 "Bathroom" is a Call-Back to the early days of the comic, returning to the gag-based style of the first few issues. Shag mistakes the bathroom for the kitchen, causing Scoob to retaliate by pulling out a rocket launcher.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • "Mick"/Shag's appearance is heavily based off of this disturbing joke image.
    • "Remember when the comic was about Scoob barfing up mayonnaise?"explanation
  • Tearjerker: Pat's shock when he realizes that his final fate is to be killed by Mick in 20 years' time after reporting everything that happened over that time span and the grim realization of his compliance being a Foregone Conclusion. This happens in a flashback to 15 years before part one and there's a two-year Time Skip between parts one and two...Patrick has at most three years In-Universe until he's dead.
