Super Robot Wars Reversal is a video game for the Game Boy Advance and is part of the Super Robot Wars franchise. Released in 2002, it's the second game for the handheld system, preceded by Super Robot Wars Advance. Like the latter, it's also ported onto mobile phones as part of the Super Robot Wars "i" line.
This is the second SRW with a focus on time travel, the first being Super Robot Wars Alpha Gaiden. Depending on the player's choice, the game revolves around either Raul Gureden or Fiona Gureden, pilot of the prototype rescue unit "Excellence", alongside co-workers Raji Montoya and Mizuho Saiki. Equipped with the Time Flow Engine into the Excellence, the three ally with the Nadesico B or the La Cailum, hoping to promote their machine for funding towards further development. However, a mysterious being named Duminuss wishes to use the Time Flow Engine for its own purposes. Things take a turn for the worse when Raul/Fiona are accidentally sent to the past, where they have to make a decision to let history flow as it is or attempt to correct the events leading to the present, in order for a better future.
This game contains examples of the following:
A-Cup Angst (One of Duminuss' Quirky Miniboss Squad, Tis, has this as her plight (never mind that she's a loli) [[spoiler:In a heart-wrenching moment of sacrifice, Duminuss asks what they wanted if they are to be reborn; Tis answers "I want a body with a sexier form and bigger breasts".
One notable accomplishment by one of the homunculus, Despinis, is she's the one responsible of utilizing the Devil Gundam Cells to resurrect Master Asia from the dead and use him as a slave. Master Asia would be freed from her control after he's defeated by the Round Knights as well as receiving a heavy dose of Getter Rays from the awakened Shin Getter
Emperor Gore does this, since the Shin Getter Vs. Neo Getter OVA's plot is required.
G Gundam: Double God Finger (performed by God Gundam and Nobel Gundam), Double Sekiha Tenkyoken (performed by God Gundam and Master Gundam), Love Love Finger (performed by God Gundam and Shining Gundam), and Shuffle Alliance Fist (God Gundam, Gundam Maxter, Dragon Gundam, Gundam Rose and Bolt Gundam)
Martian Successor Nadesico: Buttercup Formation (performed by Aestivalis-Ryoko, Aestivalis-Hikaru, and Aestivalis-Izumi) and Double Gekigan Flare (performed by Aestivalis-Akito and Aestivalis-Gai)
Mazinger Z and Great Mazinger: Double Burning Fire, Double Mazinger Blade and Double Mazinger Punch.
Degraded Boss (Devil Gundam and its 3 forms and the Grand Master Gundam)
Doing It for the Art: Late in the game, the Martian Successor Nadesico crew will upgrade to their Prince Of Darkness mecha. As Gai didn't appear in The Movie, he is given a Super Aestivalis with his TV series Aesti's monoeye head.
Enfant Terrible (The homunculi are created to be like this, but Lalia and Despinis show genuine kindness now and then)
Fridge Brilliance (Neo Getter-1 gets a new weapon (a machinegun) seemingly out of nowhere...until you remember Episode 2 of the OVA, where Prof. Shikishima shows off a machinegun and mutters to himself about making a scaled-up version for the Getter.
Magikarp Power (Gear Fighters Dendoh and Ogre have an habit of only being able to recover energy one of two ways: resupply by a specific unit or returning to a carrier to recharge. However, near the end of the game, if one defeats the final enemy of the series three times in a row, it will unlock a new form for the two machines which completely recharges their energy every turn.)
Not only that, getting this last form for them gives Dendoh a new, very powerful attack in its base form that can be used for a pittance compared to its other finishers.
Meaningful Name (Duminuss' name is possibly derived from the Greek word dunamis, meaning power. The names of Despinis, Raria and Teis are also of Greek origin, meaning miss, speech and matter, respectively)
This also extends to their mechs: Eleos means mercy, Hypokrisis is derived from hypocrisy, and Thugater and Pater are derived from the words for daughter and father respectively.
Tiz is the Id because she is quite bratty and impulsive.
Lalia is the Ego because he acts as the mediator between Tiz and Despinis.
Despinis is the Superego because she handles the complicated task of constructing the second Time Flow Engine.
Redemption Demotion (An exception: after fighting the rival robot of Gear Fighter Dendoh, Gear Fighter Ogre, you can get it and its stats will go down, but if during a route split you choose to fight the Brainwashed and CrazyHokuto, who's using the Ogre, after the battle you get him back and find out the bad guys put Ogre back to the stats it had before and you get to keep them this time)
Swiss Army Weapon, Mecha Expansion Pack (The Excellence is the ability to change into a variety of frames suited for different forms of combat and terrain. They include Cosmodriver (space), Striker (melee), Gunner (long-range), Flyer (air) and Diver (water). The final frame, depending on the chosen protagonist, is the Lightning (Raul) and Eternal (Fiona). The Aestivalis also have ground assault, aerial, artillery, and space combat frames.)
Wave MotionBFGs (Gundam X and Gundam Double X's Sattelite Cannons, Zambot 3's unlockable Ion Cannon and Wing Zero's Twin Buster Rifle)
Villain Override (Subverted touchingly: Duminuss is fatally wounded by the heroes, and the Replacement Goldfish sacrifice their souls to heal it... but their bodies keep going, still determined to carry out their last wish. Even more touchingly, Dumniuss asks each of them what they desire, promising to fulfill it when it resurrects them)
Villain Team Up (Duminuss works with the Galfa, Gaizok and the Frost Bros.)
Wouldn't Hurt a Child (Played with: Duminuss has a trio of homunculi as henchmen. The homunculi, despite posing superhuman strength, are all children. This is because Duminuss knows most people will hesitate to fight children. It's eventually averted as they sacrifice their "mind" to heal the badly injured Duminuss, forcing the player to kill them all)
