Trivia / Trevor Whatevr

  • Shout-Out: He loves these.
    • One of his early tracks, "Dig Champs," is named after a fictional Genesis-era video game from Regular Show.
      • Mordecai later makes an appearance on the single cover for "For the Birds."
    • The cover art for w/e is a glitch art image made from pictures of (almost) all of the works given nods by the songs themselves (or stuff he just thought was cool at the time).
    • The sample in "One for Fog, Two for Treasure" is lifted directly from Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc. The title of the song is taken from a line by Skidmark from Turbo F.A.S.T..
      • Skidmark later shows up on the single cover for "Regards."
    • "Eighteen Years" features a glitched-up image from BioShock Infinite as its cover. (Additionally, the song itself closely resembles "Aquatic Ambiance" from Donkey Kong Country, though this was not planned.)
    • "I'm Dirty Dan!" is a love letter to SpongeBob, particularly the second season episode "Survival of the Idiots".
    • "Bound by the Box" is thematically inspired by and named after elements of Time Fcuk and The Binding of Isaac. The cover art also references BattleBlock Theater, though not (initially) intentionally.
      • The cover art also features a glitched-up rendering of Pingu.
    • Speaking of BattleBlock Theater, the Callow Youth track "Your New Best Friend" was originally bookended by samples from the game but they were removed due to a (erroneous) copyright claim on SoundCloud. The cover art is still a screenshot from the game, however.
    • His remix of "Forever" by A.I. Steam features Pinky and the Brain on the cover.
    • "Gomez", in both cover art and sound, serves as an attempt by Tre to capture the spirit of the Fez soundtrack.
    • The name "TRVRWHTVR" exists largely as a reference to MSTRKRFT and STRFKR.
    • Elsewise's track "Hella Hello" uses one of Tiny's wordless grunts as part of the percussion.
      • Big makes an appearance on the single cover for "Telepathetic," forming a Stealth Insult.
    • The final track on Elsewise is titled "Supercell" as a shortened form of the name "Zhalo Supercell". The cover art features a silhouette of the rifle itself and imitates the logo of the game itself down to the font used (namely, Futura).

  • What Could Have Been:
    • Callow Youth was originally going to be called Futurebound, and then Project 3. While it was called Futurebound, it was being developed as the second Trevor Whatevr album; once the idea for Skele21 came up, however, Trevor opted to release two EPs instead.
    • Prior to joining Audiotool, Tre was going to use a setup involving the REAPER production app and his iPod as a means of production. It didn't take.
    • The ⌘ EP was originally named Saturday (after the track of the same name that appears on the final EP), and then w/o (in keeping with the theme set by w/e and w/r/t and broken by Elsewise). The singles "Dubber Ruck" and "Chromatica" were also initially made for the EP, which was going to have a content aware fill-based aesthetic.
