Sandbox / He Also Did A Wick Check

Go To

A wick check made for He Also Did. It's a Trivia entry with the definition of "A creator does something far beyond what they're most known for." It has fallen into misuse, however, with most entries having "Creator also did this work" or "Creator has had another career". I'm doing this Wick Check to see if there are any correct examples and see if it's bound for TRS:

     Correctly used (9/50)
  1. Trivia. What Its Like Being Alone: Would you believe that the creator of this show went on to direct San Andreas and Rampage (2018)?!
  2. Film.Morning Glory: Co-produced by J. J. Abrams, of all people.

  6. Trivia.Sesame Street Presents Follow That Bird: Curtis Clark, the film's cinematographer, previously worked on the very different The Draughtsman's Contract. He was hired specifically to give the film an unquestionably cinematic look that would immediately distinguish it from the TV show.

  3. Trivia.Curious George 2006:
  4. YMMV.The Brave Of Gold Goldran: Shinji Takamatsu also directed the Animated Adaptation of Gintama, which resulted in the retroactive recognition of Goldran, formerly the collective black sheep of the Yuusha franchise, as a funny show that showcased his comedic talent to its' fullest. The subs also helped things.
  5. Trivia.Animalympics:

The human characters mostly avoid this.

    • John Lennon was reportedly a fan of the band's debut album. He told Rolling Stone that "Rock Lobster" reminded him of Yoko's music, citing it as his inspiration to "'get out the old axe and wake the wife up!'"
    • Yoko also became a fan of the band and later a friend - and the band were inspired by her for their song "Don't Worry", to the point where her lawyers thought it was a cover of Yoko's song "Don't Worry, Kyoko" (it wasn't).
    • The band performed the second theme song for Rocko's Modern Life.
    • Ricky played guitar in "Breaking in My Heart" on Tom Verlaine's debut album. He's also rumoured to have played on XTC's album Drums and Wires though the album credits never listed him as someone who played on the record, and the band had two guitarists who at the time played in a style similar to his, so it's unlikely that it's true.
    • This also applies behind the scenes as well. David Byrne, who produced Mesopotamia, was previously lead vocalist and guitarist for the Talking Heads, while Nile Rodgers and Don Was, who produced Cosmic Thing and co-produced Good Stuff, were, respectively, lead guitarist for Chic and bassist for Was (Not Was).

LaVerne Harding and Ed Solomon, both of whom worked at Warner Bros. Animation in the late 1960s (i.e. the Seven Arts era), were also animators in this.
