Pride in Her Chest
is a fanfiction of The Loud House by a rather prolific author in the fandom (he wrote Peeking Through the Fourth Wall and Mall Rats (TLH)).
This fanfiction touches on one of the more awkward areas of the show— the fact that Luna, Luan, and Lynn Jr. haven't appeared to have developed breasts yet. Despite the subject's awkwardness, this story is in no way a Rule 34 and actually has some emotional bonding between Lynn and Lori as well as humour.
The story is about Lynn thinking she has started to develop breasts when actually her pectoral muscles have gotten bigger. She likes having pecs but this makes her concerned about her development, so she goes to Lori for advice.
Pride in Her Chest provides examples of
- A-Cup Angst: Lynn is a bit disappointed that she hasn't gotten breasts yet since her thirteenth birthday.
- Artistic License – Biology: Two vital hormones are necessary to gain muscle, and the body doesn't produce enough of them before puberty to build significant muscle mass as Lynn does here. In addition, most girls start developing breasts 2-3 years before their first period in the form of breast buds, so for Lynn to have had her first period without even breast buds might be medically concerning.
- Affectionate Nickname: Lori is heard addressing Bobby as "Boo-Boo Bear" over the phone.
- Baffled by Own Biology: When Lynn's pectoral muscles grow, she initially thinks she's growing breasts, and then when she realises she isn't, she worries the pecs will somehow inhibit her breasts' growth.
- Death Glare:
- When Lori first sees Lynn, she gives her a "biting, half-lidded glare".
- Lynn glares at Lori upon being told she shouldn't obsess over boys.
- Delayed Reaction: Downplayed. When Lynn looks in the mirror, she immediately notices that there's something different about her reflection, but it takes her a while to realise that it's her chest looking different.
- First Period Panic: Discussed when Lori wonders if Lynn is concerned about her body because she's gotten her first period. Lynn's actual first period, however, happened the month before and she doesn't seem too bothered.
- I Heard That: Luna is not happy that Lori told Lynn she still has the same size bra from when she was twelve and reacts with this.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: This fanfic highlights how Lori is intimidating and shouts a lot, but is actually a loving older sister who provides good advice.
- Phoneaholic Teenager: Lori's habit of talking on her cell phone a lot is referenced when Lynn has to wait a long time for Lori to finish her phone conversation and is only stopped by Lori noticing her. The narration even calls Lori a "phoneaholic".
- Shout-Out: When Lori says that Lynn shouldn't base her self-worth on what boys think, Lynn calls her "Beyoncé".
- Spit Take: Discussed when the narration mentions that Lori would've spat on Lynn's face if she'd been drinking while Lynn mentioned Maggie's breasts being almost as big as Lori's.
