  • Accidental Murder: When Popeye punches the wall in his teams' diamond prison trying to break out, it causes the diamonds around the place to shake with enough force to generate lightning arcs. These lightning arcs then strike Ulysses, Keizer Ghidorah, Truck-kun, and the Yellow Devil, killing them.
  • Alas, Poor Yorick: After The Devil kills Korra, he picks up her skull and mockingly quips "Alas, poor girl, I barely knew her." before tossing it over his shoulder.
  • Alternate Self: The Octavia seen in this episode comes from the MLP fanfic "A Puppet to Her Fame", where she's being controlled by a mysterious entity only known as "The Puppeteer".
  • Always Someone Better: As many fighters find out the hard way, while they are powerful in their own right, their competition proves to be even stronger than they are.
  • And There Was Much Rejoicing: After Cooler kills Broly, the audience cheers, as they no longer have to hear Broly babble on about Kakarot any longer.
  • Ash Face: When Broly kills Toriel, the flames in her hand explode in front of his face, forcing him to take a moment to wipe the ashes from his eyes.
  • Attack Reflector: When Absolute Radiance fires several light lasers at Kars, he transforms his body into a glass-like surface to reflect them back, which tear though Radiance's body.
  • Attack the Tail: During the fight between All-Might, Might Guy, and Bagan, All-Might grabs Bagan by the tail and spins him so hard All-Might almost forms a tornado before flinging him into Might Guy.
  • Back for the Dead: Ch'rell gets revived to participate in this episode, only to not even make it past the first chapter.
  • Barehanded Blade Block: When Guts swings his sword to slice through Frieza's Death Beams, Frieza catches his sword with his hands.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Vegeta spends the first half of his fight picking on Shaggy, demanding he show why he was chosen for this tournament, threatening to kill him if he doesn't prove himself. When Vegeta inadvertently says Shaggy's Trigger Phrase, it awakens his Ultra Instinct powers. Let's just say that things go downhill for Vegeta from this point on.
  • Big "NO!": The Puppeteer screams two of these as Bagan is beginning to defeat him, refusing to let its music end here.
  • Big "WHAT?!": Bagan's roars one to Superman suddenly missing a head thanks to Sanic.
  • Big "YES!": The Devil cheers out a "YEEEEES!" after Sanic gets killed.
  • Blood Knight: Among the other characters who only care for a good fight, there's the Blood God himself, Khorne, who gets pissed at the lack of blood being spilled in the Arena.
  • Body Horror: When Khorne strikes Kars with a desire for bloodlust, it causes his body to mass mutate into something with multiple features from different predators across different biomes.
  • Bond One-Liner: Frieza delivers the most painfully obvious one one could think of after killing the Queen Chess Piece:
Frieza: "King to Queen. Checkmate. I win."
  • Boom, Headshot!: After Kars' attempt of slicing Perfect Cell in half fails, Cell shoots Kars in the head with several Death Beams, knocking Kars out as he waits for his brain to regenerate.
    • The Queen Chess Piece kills Mother Talzin and Hisoka by ramming its body through their heads.
    • Bagan finishes off Aizen by skewering his head with his tail.
  • Bullet Catch: When Bayonetta tries shooting Vegeta, he just catches all of her bullets and then crushes them.
  • The Bus Came Back: Cell, Guts, All Might, Martian Manhunter, Toriel, and Nomu all return from previous Arenas. The Yellow Devil returns after being an Event Boss late into the 20th episode, Madama Butterfly from the 21st episode makes a reappearance as part of Bayonetta's attacks, and The Radiance returns from the last main episode, now in its Absolute form.
    • Bus Crash: Unfortunately for the Yellow Devil, he's killed before the first match of the episode even starts.
  • Cain and Abel: In the final round Frieza becomes the Cain to Cooler's Abel.
  • Catch and Return: When Absolute Radiance flings as many swords as she can at Kars in desperation, Kars is able to grab them all and toss them back, redirecting them into Radiance's wings.
  • The Cameo: At the end of the episode, after Bagan wins the episode, Baskerra transports him to the Las Lindas universe, where he reunites with Taffy.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: When the audience boos The Devil for killing Naruto, he reminds them who they're booing at.
The Devil: "Oh, boo yourselves! I'm THE DEVIL! It's my job to make everything miserable for everyone!"
  • Characters Dropping Like Flies: The penultimate chapter pits every contestant remaining into several matches, where only 4 of them remain by the end of the chapter.
  • Chekhov's Gun: In Talzin's Team Introduction, she has a figure of clay, ready to carve it into another contestant. When she has to fight in chapter 5, she uses the one she made of Q to kill him by tossing it off the edge, with Q following.
  • Collateral Damage: Zenos yae Galvus gets killed by Vegeta's Final Flash in his cell when the trajectory of it changes after Ultra Instinct Shaggy kills Vegeta.
  • Compensating for Something: Bayonetta taunts Unicron with this phrase for talking as big as he is.
  • Cradling Your Kill: After Bagan unleashes his Extinction Beam on All-Might and Might Guy, he catches the weakened Might Guy seconds before he dies in his arms.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Thai describes Shaggy in this episode. For most of his screentime he acts like his normal cowardly self, useless in a normal fight, let alone one involving so many powerhouses. But when Vegeta unknowingly says his Trigger Phrase, he reveals that he has the power of ULTRA INSTINCT within him!
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Many, many fights in this episode tend to be heavily one sided.
  • Dark Horse Victory: In a fight between Goku and Shizune, the winner of it comes out to be Aizen, as the two were so focused on each other that they didn't realize he was there until it was too late.
  • The Day the Music Lied Bagan's fight with Octavia is set to Octavia's theme from the canceled fangame Fighting Is Magic. Only what happens is that Bagan's fight with her is really about the thing controlling her, The Puppeteer. And he ends up killing it and her at her own request.
    • The last fight of chapter 2 has Juggernaut's theme from Marvel Super Heroes plays as he fights Superman. Superman however is quickly able to send Juggernaut falling to his doom
    • In the first fight of chapter 3, Perfect Cell's theme from Dragon Ball Fighter Z accompanies the fight. But late into the fight Khorne overwhelms Cell with a desire with bloodlust and is then killed by Khorne.
    • In the first match of chapter 4, Anjer's metal cover of Heartache plays as she has to fight Cooler and Broly. Only halfway into the fight she sacrifices herself, saving Cooler from one of Broly's attacks. In the second match, Brandon Yates' Mighty, plays as All-Might, Might Guy, and Bagan fight. Except that between the three of them, it's Bagan that wins the match.
    • In Shazam's fight with Goku, Brandon Yates' Marvelous!, a track that played in his DEATH BATTLE! with Captain Marvel that he won, accompanies the fight. But in the fight itself Goku obliterates Shazam with a Kmehameha.
    • Madara's theme from Shippuden plays in his round with Superman, Bagan, and Sanic. But late into the fight Sanic turns into Super Sanic and spins so fast it causes a whirlwind that catches him and Popeye and kills them, leaving Sanic as the final opponent Bagan has to kill for the match.
  • Death by Disfigurement: In the fight between Shaggy, Vegeta, Unicron, and Bayonetta, Bayonetta kicks Unicron in the groin so hard his legs shatter. Once Shaggy goes Ultra Instinct, he's the first one to be slain by him.
  • Death Seeker: After Bagan's defeat at the hands of Godzilla in the 14th episode and realizing that his supposed destiny was nothing but a sham, he hopes to seek a permanent death in this Arena. He even tells Guts to cheer for his demise in their Team Introduction.
  • Did I Mention It's Christmas?: Outside of a mention of Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" playing before the match begins, nothing related to the holiday is brought up in this episode.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: Raiden, a cyborg, manages to kill Moro, a self-proclaimed world eater, with nothing but his sword and the properties of it.

    • Mother Talzin kills Q by tossing her Voodoo Doll of him off the edge of the Arena, with Q following suit.

  • Foreshadowing: In the introductions as Frieza and Cooler are bickering with each other, Frieza tells his brother when they're sent to fight each other. When they both manage to survive up to the final round, the brothers start the match by fighting each other, with Frieza eventually killing Cooler.
  • Four Is Death: By the end of chapter 4, Team 2 is completely wiped out.

  • Get It Over With: Even if Bagan is unsure how Octavia is supposed to kill him, he tells her to get it over with, as he feels he deserves punishment.
  • Go Out with a Smile: Just before her body crumbles to ash, Octavia gives a content smile, knowing that someday she could be reunited with Vinyl.

    • When Bagan is able to detect where Aizen's real body is, he surprises Aizen and bites him in half.
  • Head Crushing: Frieza kills his brother Cooler by crushing his head with his feet.
  • High-Voltage Death: Ulysses, Keizer Ghidorah, Truck-kun, and the Yellow Devil are killed by the lightning arcs created by the diamonds around the place when Popeye punches the wall of his prison.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: While fighting Goku, Shazam calls out "SHAZAM!", intending for the lighting to strike Goku. However, Goku elbows him down, where the lightning strikes Shazam and reverts him back to Billy Batson. And then Goku kills him with a Kamehameha before he can turn into Shazam again.
  • Incorruptible Pure Pureness: Khorne is baffled to discover that he senses no anger or bloodlust, just purity. Superman states it's because he uses his might to protect, not just for fighting.
  • In the Back: The Devil kills Naruto by stabbing him with his pitchfork through his chest while he was facing Korra.
  • The Juggernaut: The Trope Namer shows up as one of the characters participating in this episode.
  • Killed Mid-Sentence: As Naruto is readying himself to fight Korra, he tells her "I hope you're ready! Because-" before getting shanked by The Devil and then tossed into lava.
    • As Zenos is watching Ultra Instinct Shaggy kill Vegeta, he laments not being able to fight yet, he notices that his prison has suddenly faltered, moments before Vegeta's Final Flash kills him.
Zenos yae Galvus: "Hmph. This is quite the view for such a display. A pity it doesn't let me...wait, why did the barrier suddenly van-"[KABOOOM!]
    • At the beginning of the first fight of chapter 3, Shaggy tries to remember what he did the previous match to help him win this match, only to get killed by Perfect Cell.
Shaggy: "I'm not sure what happened last time, but I'm pretty sure I did something right! Like, I feel like I would-"[Gets destroyed by Cell's Kamehameha]
    • When Broly grabs Lancer Artoria, she only has enough time to say "What-" before Broly kills her.
    • Franklin Richards gets a fist through his chest before being disintegrated by El Hermano as he's boasting about being a reality warper.
    • Frieza finishes crushing Cooler's skull as Cooler is telling Bagan not to let his brother win.
  • Kill It with Fire: The Devil finishes off Korra with his hellfire, leaving a scorched skull as the only thing remaining of her.
    • Khorne kills Perfect Cell by burning up his body.
    • When one of Broly's ki-balls hits Martian Manhunter, the heat from it causes him to burst into flames and burn to ashes.
  • Lethal Joke Character: Several of the characters here were clearly just picked as a joke. But since they're in a tournament featuring some of the strongest characters in existence, this means that they themselves are also extremely powerful.
  • Ludicrous Gibs: When Cooler shoots a blast into Broly that comes out through his back, Broly can't keep his body stable and blows up into giblets.
  • Mêlée à Trois: Essentially every round that has three or more contestants fighting.
  • Mercy Kill: Octavia, having been under the control of a being known as The Puppeteer for a while, begs Bagan to kill her shortly before The Puppeteer takes control of her for the fight. Bagan obliges her request.
  • No Body Left Behind: Many characters in these fights are either obliterated, disintegrated, or have their bodies reduced to ashes by other characters' attacks.
  • Non-Gameplay Elimination: Khorne, feeling he's being wasted on his battle with Superman over the lack of bloodshed, concedes his fight to Superman and wishes to return to his realm.
  • Off with His Head!: After killing Popeye Alter and seemingly killing Broly, she turns to find her horse Dun Stallion, only to discover Broly holding his head, having ripped it off.
    • Sanic takes off Superman's head when he turns Super.
  • One-Winged Angel: When fighting El-Hermano and Alastor in chapter 4, Frieza decides to go all out by transforming into Black Frieza. He sticks to this form for the remainder of his fights.
  • Pain to the Ass: After freezing the floor with his ice breath, Superman gets the Juggernaut to trip by punching him in the butt.
  • Pre-Asskicking One-Liner: After Ch'rell nullifies Frieza's superhuman abilities, Frieza makes sure to let Ch'rell know he's not going to let him get away with this.
Frieza: "If you think taking away a couple of my abilities will ensure your safety, you loathsome octopus, you clearly don't know me. I am your emperor! I am Lord Frieza! And you are going to PAY for this humiliation!"
    • Frieza gets another one in his second fight when Alastor treats their fight like another one of his shows, moments before turning into Black Frieza:
Frieza: "Remember your show? It won't even be as long as an ADVERT."
  • Pre-Mortem One-Liner: When Korra yells to The Devil that he won't break her, he tells her "I don't intend to crush you…I intend to ROAST YOU!" before burning her with his hellfire.
    • Before Kars finishes off Absolute Radiance, he tells her "Pity it had to end this way...but I am above ALL things!"
    • When Sanic spins so fast he turns into a whirlwind, he yells to Bagan "GOTTA GO FAAAAST!". Bagan however, yells that Sanic should have slowed down when he had the chance, before Bagan kills him.
Bagan: "No...you should have slowed down before you realized…YOU DUG YOUR OWN GRAVE!"
    • Just before Frieza kills Guts, he delivers a Blasphemous Boast about how pointless it was to attack him with a sword:
Frieza: "A most impressive weapon…but useless against one on par with the very GODS!"
  • Punch Catch: Vegeta tries to punch Ultra Instinct Shaggy after he just killed Unicron, only for Shaggy to catch the fist.
    • When Broly charges at Popeye Alter, Alter attempts to punch Broly, only for him to catch the fist and crush it.
  • Sarcastic Clapping: Q gives a slow clap after watching Broly's brute strength wins him his first match over critical thinking.
  • Say My Name: Most of Broly's dialogue consists of shouting "KAKAROT!" over and over again.
  • Screams Like a Little Girl: Shaggy lets out a girly scream when Vegeta lands right where he's trying to hide.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: When The Devil is getting beaten by Cooler, he transforms into a bat and attempts to escape, only for Cooler to throw a supernova at him, where The Devil is flung into the far reaches of space.
  • Sex Is Violence: The mere idea of fighting fighters from all these different universes is enough for Hisoka to produce a bright light of aura from his crotch.
  • Shout-Out: When Juggernaut smashes his fists against the barrier trying to break out, he asks if the ones imprisoning him know who he is. Billy Batson is quick to snark that everyone already knows who he is.
The Juggernaut: "Don't you know who I am?!"
Billy Batson: "We've heard it a billion times. You're the Juggernaut, followed by 'bitch'."
    • There are a few references to DEATH BATTLE!:
    • In Ethos Bloo's Team Introduction, Goku asks Superman if he remembers him from somewhere. And after Goku's fight with Shazam, the audience demands that he fight Superman next.
    • And in the round between All-Might, Might Guy, and Bagan, Mighty, the track that played over All-Might and Might Guy's Death Battle, accompanies the fight.
    • The chosen music for Shazam's fight with Goku is Marvelous!, a track that was used for his fight with Captain Marvel.
    • When Khorne strikes Perfect Cell with a desire for bloodlust, there's one command Cell has that overrides any other thought.
    • After Goku combines his Super Saiyan Blue with the Kaio-Ken technique, Goku and Shazam do the "Kaio-Ken! Kaio-what?" gag.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: As Frieza is fighting Bagan, he begins boasting that he's as fast as the gods and no mortal can keep up with him, only for Bagan to grab his tail mid-sentence and tells him to cease his jabbering.
  • Smoke Shield: Ultra Instinct Shaggy fires two balls of green fire at Vegeta, with Vegeta seemingly gone. When the smoke clears Vegeta comes out uninjured and has gone Super Saiyan Blue.
    • When Toriel throws a chain of fireballs at Broly and Cooler, they explode with enough force to force Broly onto his back. But when the smoke clears, Cooler stands there unfazed as he has entered his fifth form.
  • Sudden Soundtrack Stop: In the second round of chapter 5, Goku's theme from Dragon Ball Fighter Z plays as he fights Shizune. But the song comes to a dead stop when Aizen uses Hado #90: Black Coffin, which kills Goku and Shizune.
  • Take That!: When introducing El Hermano, it brings up Jiren being regarded as one of the most boring Dragon Ball antagonists.
  • Taking the Bullet: Toriel sacrifices herself to save Cooler by pushing him out of the way of Broly's attack, resulting in her taking the hit.
  • Tamer and Chaster: This is the second Arena in a row to not have any sex scenes in it.
  • Team Killer: Most of the first fight in chapter 4 is Broly and Cooler trying to kill each other, with Cooler ultimately coming out on top.
    • Cooler himself falls to this in the final round when Frieza crushes his skull.
  • Teeth Flying: When All-Might lands a Texas Smash on Bagan, it smashes several of his teeth as Bagan's sent flying.
    • When Black Frieza opts to use close-range combat on Bagan, he lands a punch that knocks more teeth out of Bagan.
  • Theme Music Powerup: Plenty of them show up this episode:
    • Both fights in chapter 1 have villainous examples: When the Devil fights Korra, One Hell of a Time plays during the fight. And in Frieza's fight with Ch'rell, His theme from Dragon Ball Xenoverse plays as he easily deals with Ch'rell.
    • Once Shaggy's Ultra Instinct awakens, HalusaTwin's Ultra Instinct Shaggy Theme accompanies Shaggy as he makes quick work of Unicron and Vegeta.
    • Chapter two features yet another villainous example: When Kars breaks free from being a statue, Little V's metal cover of Awaken plays as he fights Absolute Radiance.
    • Once the last match of chapter 4 truly starts, Maximum the Hormone's F plays as Frieza transforms into his Black Form and lays waste to Alastor and El Hermano.
    • In Cooler's fight with The Devil, his theme from Dragon Ball FighterZ plays as he humiliates The Devil. And his brother Frieza also has his theme from FighterZ plays as he quickly kills the Queen Chess Piece and Guts.
  • There's No Kill like Overkill: Ultra Instinct Shaggy kills Vegeta with the Hakai technique, which has the ability to completely wipe out someone's soul.
  • They Killed Kenny Again: Every returnee that participates in the episode except for Bagan gets killed yet again.
  • This Cannot Be!: Vegeta is understandably taken aback when Shaggy, who up to this point has done nothing but act like a coward, suddenly shows he has the powers of Ultra Instinct.
Vegeta: "Wh...What's this?! Ultra Instinct?! In the hands of a mortal like THIS MAN?!"
  • This Is Gonna Suck: As Vegeta charges up his Final Flash, Bayonetta mutters "Oh...bollocks to this whole thing." knowing that what was about to happen wouldn't end well for her.
  • Token Evil Teammate: The Juggernaut for Team 5, Popeye Alter for Team 8, and Mother Talzin for Team 10.
  • Torso with a View: It happens in every match of chapter 4:
    • Broly attempts to put a hole through Cooler, only for Toriel to push him out of the way, resulting in her getting a hole punched through her body. And then Cooler later does the same thing to Broly, in addition to shooting a yellow blast that blows through his back for good measure.
    • All-Might, using his "United States of Smash" attack, punches a hole straight through Might Guy's chest.
    • El Hermano starts the last match by ramming his fist through Franklin's chest.
  • Tournament Arc: This episode has some of the strongest characters in existence duking it out in one Arena. Unusually for this trope, the number of contestants for each fight fluctuates between two to five competitors for a match and there's no bracket system.
  • Tongue Trauma: Late into Cooler's brawl with Broly, Cooler rips out Broly's tongue, having gotten sick of Broly yelling out "Kakarot" repeatedly.
  • Trash the Set: While the Arena the episode takes place in has the ability to instantly repair whatever damage it took in a match, In Black Frieza's fight with Bagan however Black Frieza completely destroys the Arena in his attempts to kill Bagan.
  • Troubled Fetal Position: Vegeta catches Shaggy hiding behind a rock in this position in their fight.
  • Underestimating Badassery: Moro is disappointed that he's been sent to fight Raiden, who he assumes is weak since he's a powerless human with cyborg attachments. Raiden then proceeds to make short work of him with his sword in their fight.
  • Vacuum Mouth: Ultra Instinct Shaggy kills Unicron by sucking his essence into his mouth and then blowing it all out, tearing him apart.
  • Villainous Breakdown: As the fight between Black Frieza and Bagan goes on, Frieza gets more and more pissed as Bagan begins to beat him.
  • What Did I Do Last Night?: Shaggy begins his introduction assuming he ate a bad sandwich because he can't remember what he did last night.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Superman chews out Goku for obliterating Billy Batson in their fight, who was just a teenager.
Superman: "You killed him. You killed a literal child just to get ahead."
  • The Worf Barrage: The second the statue of Kars is transported to fight Absolute Radiance, she wastes no time unleashing every attack she can to completely destroy Kars.
  • The Worf Effect: As a sign of how powerful the competition is, several fighters get trounced pretty easily in their rounds. Some are even killed before they get to do anything!
  • World's Strongest Man: The theme for this episode involves taking some of the strongest characters across all of fiction and having them duke it out in a tournament.
  • You Can See Me?: Azien realizes that his team can see him in their introductions, and rationalizes that it's due to the properties of the realm he's in.
  • Your Head Asplode: When the lightning arcs caused by Popeye strike Keizer Ghidorah in his mouths, it causes all of his heads to explode.
    • Frieza kills Guts by shooting a tiny energy ball into his neck, which then expands and blows up his head.

Your Winner: Bagan (Buddhe's pick)
