"Where are we gonna put them all?"
Written by Jason Lazarcheck
Directed by Stephen Surjik

"We have to evacuate. They're closing in. I'm sorry. I know you don't want to lose this place. Neither do I. But we have to keep all of these people alive."
Clarice Fong / Blink

Jace leads an assault on the Morlocks while Reeva attempts to find the spy in her midst.

Tropes:

  • Big "NO!": John, naturally, when he sees Clarice gunned down before his very eyes.
  • Booby Trap: After a pair of Purifiers are killed by the Morlocks, Jace leaves gas grenades under their bodies so the Morlocks will investigate and knock themselves out.
  • Character Death:
    • Sage is killed by Reeva, who believes she's the traitor responsible for Max's death.
  • Dehumanization: The Morlocks are constantly spoken about as monsters.
  • Eating the Eye Candy: Clarice, when she sees Erg shirtless.
  • Empathy Doll Shot: In the aftermath of the assault on the Morlocks, Jace finds a teddy bear dropped by one of the children and realizes he just led an attack on families with children.
  • Even Evil Has Standards:
    • Jace is at first quite hesitant to just attack the Morlock's shelter, and seems very taken aback afterwards when he realizes that there were kids in the camp too.
    • Thoroughly subverted by Benedict Ryan, who initially turns down Reeva's help in the flashback, proclaiming himself to be a patriot. Reeva then correctly points out that he is nothing more than a salesman.
  • Face Your Fears: Both Lauren and Reed decide to stop suppressing their powers and embrace them.
  • Flashback: This time towards Benedict Ryan and Reeva meeting for the first time. back then, he used to be a washed up radio host with barely any audience and crappy equipment. Then Reeva provided him with the means to become America's No. 1 Anti-Mutant TV host.
  • Internal Reveal: Caitlin learns about the letter and the music box from Reed's grandparents and how they affected Lauren.
  • In the Back: How Clarice gets shot by Turner.
  • Kick the Dog: Reeva sends the Purifiers after the Morlocks, who are completely neutral and otherwise hidden away in the sewers.
  • Leave No Survivors: The Purifiers take no prisoners, even executing Morlocks that are already knocked out by gas.
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: Caitlin starts shooting at cops and speeds right through their blockade after realizing that negotiating is no longer an option.
  • Mook Horror Show: One of the Morlocks, who has the power to turn into smoke, picks off two Purifiers, horrifying the others.
  • My God, What Have I Done?:
    • Lorna, when she realizes that Sage got killed because of her actions.
    • See Empathy Doll Shot. Jace finds himself to be not so different from what he perceives the mutants to be when he finds a teddy bear on the ground.
  • New Powers as the Plot Demands: Sage's immunity towards telepathy was never mentioned before.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: By hacking Sage's computer to figure out where Max would be, Lorna inadvertently paints her as a spy. Reeva kills Sage for her perceived betrayal.
  • Oh, Crap!: Clarice, when she sees Jace Turner leading the attack on the Morlocks.
  • Psychic Static: Sage's technopathy makes her immune to telepathy, because her thoughts are organized more like a computer than a person. Tragically, this only serves to make her look more like a spy to Reeva, since she's the only person in the Inner Circle who can hide their thoughts as such.
  • Shooting Superman: Jace catches onto this when Erg steps out to draw fire, realizing he's just absorbing the energy and throwing it back at them. He instead orders the Purifiers to shoot everyone else, resulting in a slaughter.
  • Uncertain Doom: Blink is gunned down during the assault on the Morlocks just as she manages to get Erg out. Her fate is unknown as of episode's end, and also according to Word of God.
  • What the Hell, Hero?:
    • Caitlin is angry with Reed for not telling her about the letter from his grandparents that Lauren read.
    • Clarice is angry with Erg due to his passivity and reluctance to help more mutants.
  • Working with the Ex: John helps Clarice evacuate the Morlocks.
