"Help me find my son!"
Written by Marta Gené Camps
Directed by Deran Sarafian

"How are we any different from the people that we're trying to save him from?"
Reed Strucker

The Struckers, minus Andy, begin to rebuild their broken trust, while Thunderbird, Blink and Eclipse visit Wire, hoping to convince him to help again. But when they get there, they learn that something terrible has happened from Wire's brother, Graph. The team discovers that the Inner Circle is on the way to raid a mutant detention facility, so they make moves to try to intercept them. Meanwhile, Jace is contacted by a member of the Purifiers.

Tropes:

  • And This Is for...: Graph is dedicating the below mentioned hacker duel to his murdered brother.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: The Inner Circle not only gets away, the also broke somebody out who is probably pretty powerful, and they gained a whole lot of supporters due to exposing what happened at the mental hospital.
  • Beam-O-War: Andy and Lauren use their powers on each other. Lauren holds up for a while, but Andy ultimately overwhelms her.
  • Bedlam House: The mental hospital where mutants are locked up without a trial and given medication.
  • Dueling Hackers: Graph engages in one with Sage, with the former coming out on top due to a drug boost.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Turner initially turns down Officer Ted Wilson, who is secretly a member of the Purifiers. After seeing the broadcast about the incident at the mental hospital however, he calls him back.
  • Flashback: The episode begins with one 16 years back, with a doctor advising Caitlin to terminate Andy's pregnancy due to health risks.
  • Go Through Me: Lauren tries to stop Andy from leaving this way. Unfortunately, she was wrong about him not being willing to hurt her.
  • I Did What I Had to Do: Caitlin repeatedly justifies her extremely questionable actions throughout the episode, creeping out not only the Underground members, but even Reed as well.
  • Jack Bauer Interrogation Technique: Marcos threatens to blind Graph. He quickly calls the bluff though, as he wouldn't be able to do hacking for them without his eyes.
  • Killed Offscreen: Wire has been murdered by the Inner Circle.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: After witnessing the outright torture Caitlin puts Graph through to get what she wants, Reed muses that they are not much better than the Inner Circle.
  • Sadistic Choice: Lorna freeing the patients. They then have to decide whether they are gonna pursue the Inner Circle or help the patients, who are in such bad mental shape that they are hurting each other. They choose the latter.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Graph for his brother Wire. They have the exact same powers and are both addicts.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: In the earlier episodes of the season, Marcos was desperate to be reunited with Lorna, even telling her that he'd join the Inner Circle to stay with her last episode. In this episode, he was ready to destroy an SUV with her in it with no regard for her safety and it took Lauren referring to her as "the mother of his daughter" to get him to stand down.
  • The Unreveal: It is not revealed who the Inner Circle broke out and brought with them, as he/she is hooded.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: The Inner Circle raid the mutant detention facility to free a single mutant, but they force the staff to admit to their unlawful detention of mutants so as to frame the attack as a defense of mutant rights.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Reed's reaction to Caitlin forcing Graph into withdrawal, then giving him more drugs to get him to help them is to point out that if they're going to be torturing and using people, they're no better than the Inner Circle and there's no point trying so hard to get Andy back.
  • Worst Aid: Reed tries to suppress his powers with drugs, even though John advised against it.

"It was Andy."
