"You know what that means, right? People lose everything."
Written by Brad Marques
Directed by Nina Lopez-Corrado

"We will take what we came for and then we will leave. Violence will only be used as a last resort. Any questions?"
Reeva Payge

The Inner Circle implements their plan, the Underground tries to help Reed, and Jace learns more about the Purifiers.

Tropes:

  • Ax-Crazy: All Rebecca does after massacring the room full of people is smile sadistically.
  • Bank Robbery: The basic plot of the episode, as the Inner Circle breaks into Creed Financial's vault.
  • Body Horror: Reeva's friend Benazir has the power to cause lesions on someone's skin, which she does to a Purifier who tries to get violent. Unfortunately, she's too distracted to notice his friend running up to stab her.
  • The Chains of Commanding: John gets increasingly frustrated and disillusioned about all the bad things happening to the Underground, blaming himself for it.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: Benedict Ryan, the Rabble Rouser TV show host briefly shown two episodes back, turns out to be a major backer of the Purifiers, who (after some hesitation) manages to get Jace on his show.
  • Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: Andy is quick to point out that his mother is human when Rebecca spews some anti-human rhetoric.
  • Even Evil Has Standards:
    • Jace is reluctant to throw his old friends and colleagues from Sentinel Services under the bus by publicly speaking out. Ted gets him on board by pointing out that they had no problem letting him take the fall for the fiasco in Atlanta.
    • The entire Inner Circle is absolutely horrified by Rebecca turning an entire room of humans inside out.
  • Flashback: The episode starts with one 8 years back, showing how Reeva became a radical after her friend Benny was murdered.
  • Freudian Excuse: Reeva didn't used to be so gung-ho about mutant prosperity — in fact, she objected to violent extremism — but seeing her activist friend Benny get stabbed by a Purifier hardened her outlook.
  • Friendship Moment: Lorna asks Esme to babysit Dawn during the mission, which she gladly does.
  • Gory Discretion Shot: As Rebecca is using her powers on the bank staff, the scene cuts away to outside so we only witness the spray of blood painting the frosted glass doors.
  • Honey Trap: Reeva seduced Quinn in order to kidnap him and get him to deactivate the bank's mutant detection system.
  • Hypocrite: When Marcos accuses Clarice of disloyalty towards the cause, she is quick to call him out on doing jobs for the Cartel, even while Lorna was still around and pregnant.
  • I Am a Monster: Lauren muses this about herself, seeing some uncanny parallels between her and the Von Strucker Twins, specifically recalling enjoying herself during the battle in Atlanta.
  • I Gave My Word: Reeva planned on letting Quinn and the others live after they got what they came for. Unfortunately, she didn't count on Rebecca losing her temper.
  • Implied Death Threat: What Wilson tells Jace will happen if the testing reveals that he is carrying the X-Gene.
  • Internal Reveal: Blink reveals to John that she's been personally helping the Morlocks in exchange for their help.
  • Irony: Sophie and Phoebe put an entire room of people to sleep using their powers at the same time Esme is trying to get Dawn to sleep and can't do the same because she promised Lorna she wouldn't.
  • Just Following Orders: Quinn protests that he has nothing to do with Creed Financial's funding of anti-mutant groups, but Reeva won't have it and forces him to help in the heist.
  • Keeping Secrets Sucks: John gets into a fight with Clarice due to the latter covertly helping the Morlocks.
  • Made of Indestructium: The bank's vault door is made of Adamantium, which is why they recruited Rebecca. She is able to twist it off its hinges without actually damaging it.
  • Nothing Personal: Quinn has nothing against mutants, for him it's just a job. Reeva doesn't care, as for her he is just as guilty by working for them.
  • The Power of Hate: After initially failing, Rebecca succeeds in turning the vault inside out when Andy reminds her of the horrors she endured in the mental institute. This backfires later on, however, as it only serves to remind Rebecca of her mistreatment and cause her to kill the hostages when the bank manager insults the group too many times.
  • Shame If Something Happened: Reeva tells Quinn to "think of [his] boys" when convincing him to go along with the plan.
  • Shut Up, Kirk!: Every time Quinn tries to appeal to Reeva, she shuts him down.
  • Too Dumb to Live: The bank manager continually insults the very dangerous mutants holding up his bank, despite the fact that these mutants are clearly going out of their way not to harm any of the employees. It finally bites him in the ass at the end when one insult too many causes Rebecca to snap and turn him and everyone else inside-out.
  • Was It All a Lie?: Quinn asks this of Reeva, after she reveals she was dating him to get access to the bank. She says she wishes it was, as it would have made betraying him easier. She's shown to be horrified by his death when Rebecca kills the hostages.
  • You Monster!: The bank manager's last words towards the Inner Circle. He regrets them dearly.

"Screw the plan."
