"It's like it's my first day of school."

"Watch out, mankind."
—Zeke, about robots

When she rolls her ankle, Tina starts attending school via a mobile computer screen. She soon finds it helps her hit it off with Jimmy Jr., but he seems more into the robot than he is into Tina. Meanwhile, back at the restaurant, Bob becomes a "banjo guy".

Ex-Mach-Tropes:

  • The Bus Came Back: Nurse Liz somehow didn't get fired for her stunt in the previous season, as she's the one who examines Tina's ankle and starts bending it violently in an attempt to somehow fix it.
  • Brick Joke: After the subplot seemingly ends with Bob deciding to take the banjo back to the store, he finally finds his "banjo moment" at the bonfire, but by the time he can start playing, Jimmy Jr. is already done reading his "musoems".
  • Call-Back: Once again, Jimmy Jr. dances in a dark area while screaming at his (currently-not-there) father not to dismiss his dancing dreams.
  • Comically Missing the Point: When Bob brings back a banjo case, Linda asks what's inside it, disappointed that it's a banjo.
  • Cringe Comedy: Anything and everything about Jimmy Jr.'s "musoems", at least until Tina arrives at the beach. Not even Zeke can defend him.
  • Daydream Surprise: As Bob starts playing the banjo for the first time, he turns out to be really good, and a crowd starts gathering to listen to him play. This turns out to be Bob's fantasy, as the scene cuts to Bob playing slowly and awkwardly.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Louise, as usual, regarding Tina and Jimmy Jr.'s (non-existent) love life.
Tina: I just had my best conversation ever with Jimmy Jr.
Louise: And it's not like the bar was set low at all.
  • Dreadful Musician:
    • Bob's not as great at playing the banjo as he is making burgers, though he manages to learn by the end.
    • Jimmy Jr's musoems are neither musical nor poetic.
Tammy: Oh, he's right. That's not a song.
      Jocelyn: No it is not.
  • Dumb Blonde:
  • Five-Second Foreshadowing: Tina briefly stumbles while walking to Jimmy Jr. and Zeke, about a minute before she has a much more serious fall.
  • Fun with Acronyms: The Robotic Mobility Piloting Program.
    Tina: Rump? I'm listening.
  • Hates Their Parent: Jimmy Jr. first encounters the monitor when he goes to the broom closet to vent about his father while dancing. Near the end, one of his "musoems" (and pretty much the only decent one) is about having to follow his father's unreasonable expectations.
Jimmy Jr.: I'm not you, I'm me, Dad!
  • Hikikomori: Tina gradually becomes a shut-in as she gets addicted to her new popularity and when Linda tells her that she can't keep going on like this unless she hurts her other ankle as well, she's seriously considering doing so.
  • I Am the Noun: When Louise is operating the mobile screen, pretending to be a robot for the night security guard.
Night Security Guard: Let's keep in touch. You have e-mail?
    Louise: I am e-mail.
  • Innocently Insensitive: When Louise quips that Tammy is still on the beach even though a sign says trash isn't allowed, Jocelyn points out the sign to Tammy in her usual airheaded way. Tammy isn't pleased.
  • Insistent Terminology: Jimmy Jr. calls his poems set to music "musoems", even though everyone else keeps pointing out that they're just songs.
  • Is This Thing Still On?: After Tina misunderstanding the technician's request, Mr. Frond apologizes that a smarter student didn't get injured. Tina and her parents point out that the microphone is working and they can hear him. Linda, clearly not pleased, tells Bob she knows a guidance counselor who is going to get injured. Mr. Frond tells Linda he can hear her as well. Bob reminds everyone the microphones are on and they're too close to get away with whispering.
  • It's All About Me: Frond cares less about how the Robotic Mobility Piloting Program could allow aid for injured/disabled students and more about how he could add the program to his resume for clout.
  • I've Never Seen Anything Like This Before: It eventually becomes apparent that Jimmy Jr. seems to be more attracted to Tina's robot than Tina herself, to the point where he gives the robot a big kiss. Linda says she'd like to reassure Tina that she knows what she's going through, but this is probably the first time anyone has been in a love triangle with a remote-controlled robot drone, let alone on the losing end.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Jimmy Pesto has apparently told his son to attend speech therapy instead of dance class. While he clearly has ulterior motives, Jimmy Jr. does have a lisp, so that might not have been a bad decision.
    • Whilst it's something he should never had said, Frond's comment that Tina isn't one the smarter students isn't completely unfounded; she's genuinely clueless about the simplest of things at times, and in this instance alone misconstruction a simple command and didn't know how to use crutches properly, the latter of which he saw personally.
  • Job-Stealing Robot: When Gene and Louise come across Yuli for the first time while taking Tina's robot for a spin, they use one of Gene's own robot toys and his megaphone with robot voice setting to make the robot look and sound like an actual robot and claim the robot is his new robot supervisor, allowing them to set up various pranks when the school is closed.
  • "Kick Me" Prank: While moving down the hall, the monitor has a sign taped to its back that reads "Reboot me".
  • Last-Second Word Swap: Yuli the security guard confronts the "robot supervisor" (actually Louise and Gene) about being fake, but swaps a probable expletive for a tech-themed insult (though his accent makes it sound like he did say the expletive in question).
Yuli: You're a lying piece of sheet metal!
  • Literal-Minded: When the technician asks Tina to rotate to the left, she rotates herself to left. He then clarifies he meant rotate the robot.
  • Mama Bear: Linda does not appreciate Mr. Frond's disappointment that "a smarter kid" didn't get injured instead of Tina.
Linda: I know a guidance counselor who's gonna get injured.
  • New Job as the Plot Demands: Yuli, previously seen at Family Funtime and the roller rink, is now employed at Wagstaff.
  • Parent with New Paramour: Jimmy Jr.'s mother (divorced from Jimmy Sr.) has a new friend named Allen, but it's implied that Allen isn't just a friend. Jimmy Jr. thinks he's okay.
  • A Rare Sentence: Inverted. When Jimmy Jr. asks Tina (in her robot body) on a date, Gene quips "I guess we're going robot dress shopping. I've said that so many times before, and it's finally true!"
  • Remote Body: The mobile screen becomes this to Tina. Gene and Louise also use it at night for their personal amusement, making Yuli the security guard think it's a real robot as well as his supervisor.
  • Shipper on Deck: Zeke for Tina and Jimmy Jr., to the point that he tries to haul the monitor into the ocean for supposedly getting in the way between the two.
  • Technophobia: Zeke has a self-professed dislike of robots, Tina's mobile screen included.
  • That Russian Squat Dance: Jimmy Jr. describes it as his "desert island dance" and demonstrates for Tina. He later does it again in the end credits.
