The boy needs to pee but the priest keeps coming up with reasons for why he can't pee outside (there are gods everywhere). • In Gintama, Gintoki and Hijikata both have this problem after they ended up being handcuffed together as a result of one of Okita's pranks. • An entire episode of Lost Universe, had an entire episode revolving around the 2 main characters desperately running around the spaceship looking for the only bathroom. To make things worse an ancient space trap was constantly and completely remapping the spaceship at the time. The absurdity of a ship the size of Swordbreaker having only one bathroom is lampshaded and justified by Canal, the Spaceship Girl of Swordbreaker, brattishly proclaiming she "hates bathrooms" and snippily noting that one bathroom wasn't a problem before when it was just her and Kane Blueriver aboard (as a hologram, she doesn't use it, obviously).

He can no longer hold it at this point, and we see him go to his 'happy place' as the voices of the crowd are heard exclaiming about the smell.
    • In the second episode, Naruto has to break off from fighting Sasuke to go relieve himself. Unfortunately, all his clones feel the need too, and they're too stubborn/dumb to disappear and stop fighting each other to get in the bathroom door. A similar thing also happens in the "Konoha Sports Festival" short (see the example above), where he can't get into any of the bathroom stalls because his clones have locked the doors from the inside.
    • There's a bit of a running gag with Naruto drinking spoilt milk or eating something he shouldn't and getting unexpected diarrhea, often at the worst possible moments. It's always played for laughs.

It takes Negi and Co. a good chunk of time to figure it out; all the while, poor Yue (who really needs to go to the bathroom) is forced to wait outside. They finally discover what happened when Yue can't hold it any longer and kicks the door in.

    • This sets off the plot of episode 5 of Naisho. When Pop is tired of her failed attempts to toilet-train Hana-chan, she decides to switch places with Hana so she can always make it to the potty chair when she needs to use it while in her body. Unfortunately, she doesn't realize that this means that Hana-chan is stuck in her own body with no way to tell people that she really has to go to the bathroom. Upon remembering this, Pop rides Hana's biycle while in her body to school and sees Hana in her body standing on a table while really needing to pee as her classmates are panicking, much to her shock. • Shima Shima Tora no Shimajirō has this happen a lot:
    • The potty-training episodes have this happen in them, with the parents telling Shimajiro to use the bathroom.
    • In the first version of "Any toilet can be a piece of cake!", Shimajiro really has to pee at a department store and his pee bucket warns him to go before he has an accident in the form of a song. He makes it to a urinal in time. However, when he's done, he realizes he still has to poop. The second version of the same episode omits the first half of it.
    • In one "Do it by yourself!" segment, Shimajiro is going out and doesn't want to use the bathroom beforehand. This leads to the pee bucket singing a song different from the first instance of this in the series, but he's distracted by his dad calling him to go in the car. He starts squirming in the car and asks them to pull over. He makes it to a public restroom, and this scene is followed by Shimajiro and the pee bucket singing the song together to the viewers at home.
  • In Episode 8 of Shimoneta, Anna has one while toilet paper is being confiscated.
  • Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle: The Princess suffers one of these when her usual toilet is being renovated, forcing her to search through the rest of the castle for a toilet she can actually use. To her distress, she discovers that since most demons have very non-human biology, she can't make use of their facilities. She ultimately ends up using the Demon King's private bathroom, causing him to suffer this trope.
  • Kanata spends most of Sound of the Sky's eighth episode waiting by the phone in case it rings. Even when she has to go to the bathroom. She lasts almost the entire episode. Almost. Had it not been for Noel sleeping in the bathroom...
  • In episode 3 of Spy X Family, Anya, who is a mind-reader, eavesdrops on the thoughts of random pedestrians walking down a street below her, one of whom is fretting about being about to wet himself.
  • In episode 2 of Strange Dawn, due to being Trapped in Another World that has no human facilities, Eri ends up with a case of this.
  • Early on in the very first chapter of Tail Chaser, the main Cat Girl really has to pee (she had drank way too many cold things at noon), and ends up breaking into a bachelor's house to use his toilet in the middle of the night.
  • Tenchi in Tokyo: Let's just say you should never be in the way when Mihoshi really, really has to pee. You’ll literally get burned. See episode 20 for proof.
  • The Third: The Girl with the Blue Eye: In Episode 18. Bogie warns Honoka to pee before the flight, but she insisted that she wouldn't wet her pants. It comes back to bite her later on, but she makes it.
  • An episode of Those Who Hunt Elves has a variation on this, as Junpei refuses to go #2 until he finds some toilet paper. The animators threw in a stress meter to show just how bad the situation was getting.
  • Played for Laughs in episode four of Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, which is surprising considering how grim the series is. After eating a cake several hours earlier, Mirai suddenly needs to go to the bathroom. Considering the emergency situation everyone is in there aren't normal bathrooms to use. Mari notices Mirai's discomfort easily and gets her a disposable, paper toilet, but Mirai is too embarrassed to use it. She tries to use a portable toilet; however, a man cuts in line which causes the man in back of Mirai to get into a fight with him. Mirai ends up using the paper toilet instead (offscreen).
  • Tropical-Rouge! Pretty Cure episode 33 has a scene in which the Witch of Delays says she has to use the bathroom, but she decides to put it off until tomorrow.
  • In an early scene of Who's Left Behind? Kayoko's Diary, young Kayoko Nakane confesses through prayer that she is afraid to go to the bathroom alone in the middle of the night. She proceeds to end up having a nightmare related to said fear and wets herself.
  • Why the Hell Are You Here, Teacher!?: Some of the situations involve one of the teachers being stuck in a bad position, and it goes From Bad to Worse when they have to use the restroom and are nowhere near one. Or if they are, it's usually the men's restroom and they risk getting caught. With how often it shows up it seems the mangaka may have a fetish for it.
  • The Youkai Fidgephant of Yo-kai Watch has the power to make this happen to people.
    • In "Yo-Kai Babbalong", Nate has one at the beginning of the episode while in class. Unfortunately for him, the titular Yo-Kai inspiriting his teacher causes class to go on a little longer than usual. He does make it in time, however.
    • Nate has a potty emergency in Episode 26 while Espy is reading his mind.
    • In an episode of the 2019 series, Nate is inspirited by a Yo-Kai while having one of these. Unfortunately, the powers cause him to try and unzip his pants... but stops after a group of girls notice what he is doing.
    • Nate also has one in the middle of episode 84 while he's in the pool. Of course, it's Fidgephant's fault again who procedes to call his friends and cause a bit more trouble than usual.
  • Yosuga no Sora: Akira has one in Episode 2, but doesn't want to stop helping others. Fortunately, a worried Kazuha watches from the distance and finally drags Akira to the bathroom. She scolds Akira for holding it.
  • YuruYuri:
    • Akari has a small one in season 2's episode 4 (where she gets scared by Ayano (who’s wearing a gas mask due to allergies) in the bathroom), season 3's episode 6 (while there’s a blackout going on), and season 3's episode 10 (while visiting Yui’s house).
    • Chizuru has one in the middle of the night in a flashback in season 3's episode 9.
  • Yuyushiki: In the fifth episode, Yuzuko experiences this after Yui stops her from going to the bathroom. She does make it, though.
  • Zatch and Umagon have one in episode 96 of Zatch Bell!. They make it to a bathroom on time.
