Yankees and Kitties
I'll Make You Cry (Nakaseteyaruyo Yankee-kun) is a one-volume action-BL manga by Hiiragi Nozomu released in 2019.

Delinquents Kou and Maki have been childhood friends for fifteen years and did everything together, basketball, karaoke, beating up gangs, but the former always wants something more out of their relationship from repressing his feelings with the latter. When he finally got the courage to confess, it turns out Maki knew this entire time and had waited patiently for so long until Kou was ready that the feeling eventually became mutual.

Contains the following tropes:

  • Aggressive Submissive: Maki has more or in Kou's case any experience in sex but agrees to be the bottom. He is firm in setting boundaries such as when Kou held his hand and tried pulling him close for a kiss in public, Maki's immediate reaction was to sock him in the face and tell him to do so when no one was around. However, at one point in chapter 4, he is quite powerless when Kou becomes way too sexually frustrated and could do nothing but accept what's coming if it weren't for the bell.
  • Ambiguously Gay: While never explicitly stated, the guy with wavy blonde hair in Kou and Maki's gang is implied to have a crush on Kou given he's way more enthusiastic and vocal about it to qualify as a simple case of Even the Guys Want Him. He even exclaims "my Kou" in reference to him and When He Smiles, blurts out "I like him" while the others merely blush in awe.
  • A Minor Kidroduction: The manga opens with Kou and Maki as kindergarteners having a nap when the former kisses the latter then goes back to sleep. Moments later, Maki opens his eyes wondering why Kou just did that before cutting to fifteen years later where the story begins proper.
  • Bad People Abuse Animals: Zigzagged. The thugs who first found Kon tried feeding him but when they caught Maki looking, they toss the kitten at him as an opening to attack him if it weren't for Kou intervening.
  • Battle Couple: Kou and Maki are incredibly capable fighters alone but once they get together, the two become a well-coordinated tag team as shown by their rematch with the thug duo. They even have lighthearted banter when Maki gets irritated with Kou stealing his moves but insists he's borrowing them.
  • The Cameo: The unnamed gang leader in chapter 3 turns out to be Mugimaru in Hiiragi's previous work Konna ore wo Suki Toka Majika back when he used to be a delinquent (Notice the same eyeglasses).
  • Cleaning Up Romantic Loose Ends: Maki's sister Yoshino who has had a crush on Kou since young and seemingly still is interested in him ends up dating Miu after Maki mentions his and Kou's relationship. Neatly resolving the Love Dodecahedron in the end.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Maki knew that once Kou's ED is cured, it'll be the end for his ass. Thus, he had to prepare himself for what was to come like having lube and condoms on his person just in case and in the side-story, practiced with three dildos so he can take on the real thing.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Maki dyed his hair pink (plum blossoms), Kou has a blueish tinge to his hairdo and both their eyes have matching colours.
  • Dramatic Dislocation: Kou breaks his left arm from blocking the gang leader's powerful kick. As such, it remains in a cast for the rest of the manga, putting a damper on his and Maki's plans of having sex.
  • Dude, She's Like in a Coma: As kindergarteners, Kou sneakily kissed Maki on the lips during naptime before going back to sleep. However, Maki was awake the whole time as he immediately opened his eyes in confusion but still lets Kou do it time and again growing up without telling him. Maki brought the incident up during Kou's Love Confession as to how he knew about his crush on him in the first place.
  • Even the Guys Want Him: Kou has this effect on the gang, especially the wavy-blonde guy, due to his handsome looks and cool attitude that would make anyone swoon. This feeling amplifies When He Smiles which makes Maki jealous.
  • Foreshadowing: When Yoshino gets suspicious when Maki is going to Kou's house more frequently, he retorts back that Miu goes to their house to meet her as often. The siblings then paused for a moment and were about to say something but stop themselves. At the end of the last chapter, Maki tells Yoshino that he's dating Kou expecting she'll be upset but was shocked to find out she's dating Miu.
  • Gag Echo: The gang's reaction when they ask who Kou's crush is and then later who is Kou marrying and Maki bluntly replies both times that it's him:
[When discussing about Kou during karaoke]
Glasses Guy: "Speaking of which, Kou doesn't have a girlfriend, right?"
Maki: "Nooope. 'Cause the person he likes is me."
Tall Brunette Guy: "Hah! As if!"
    Wavy-Blonde Guy: "Noooo, my Kou...!"
[Later when Kou is busy reading a marriage magazine]
Classmate: Huh? Is Kou getting married? To who?
    Maki: "With me."
Tall Brunette Guy: "Hah! As if!"
    Wavy-Blonde Guy: "Noooo, my Kou...!"
  • The Loins Sleep Tonight: One of the main plots of the story is Kou's erectile dysfunction from constantly suppressing his sexual urges and desires for Maki since puberty and the two of them trying to get it up. This proves to be difficult as finally confessing and going out with Maki then thinking incredibly erotic thoughts about him does nothing for Kou.
  • Love Confession: Maki had long-awaited fifteen years for Kou to confess which he finally does after some indirect coaxing. However, Kou phrased it in that Maki was the reason why he couldn't get it up which pisses off Maki who demands a proper one after citing the number of times he kissed him in his sleep or secretly jacked off to his clothes. Maki would later give his own rendition to him.
Maki: "I have nothing to say to someone who only makes excuses and doesn't have the courage to confess his feelings!"
Kou: [Taken aback] "I... I... I like you so much that I could die!"
Maki: "See. You can say it after all."
[Later inside the construction site storage room]
Kou: "You accepted my confession so easily."
Maki: "Yeah... I thought about it every day. About how I would respond if you ever confess but then... [Becoming aggitated] You never, ever said anything. We've been together for 15 years now and I've spent all my time thinking about you. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I wanted to okay?!"
    [Kou looks on bewildered]
Maki: "I'm saying the feeling is mutual. So, even though I said all that, the coward here is me..."
  • Love Dodecahedron: A minor, non-impactful one between Kou, Maki and their respective sisters Miu and Yoshino. As kids, Yoshino had a crush on Kou who had a crush on Maki who had a crush on Miu whose crush is unknown but it's assumed to be Yoshino. Kou's affection for Maki is the only one that remains unwavered during the fifteen-year Time Skip, Maki who knew all along eventually developed feelings for Kou while his with Miu faded and in spite of Yoshino wistfully hoping Kou would look her way, she ends up dating Miu (Tying Up Romantic Loose Ends in the process).
  • Making Love in All the Wrong Places: Maki and Kou had their first time on the park's restroom sink given they had no choice when calming down the latter's enormous erection. The author had initially intended for their first time to be an aversion but time constraints resorted to her cutting corners and leading to the trope.
  • Manly Gay: Japanese Delinquents Maki and Kou are mutually attracted to each other for their coolness, toughness and how they can put up a fight. Maki has a brief romantic Imagine Spot of Kou but instead of blooming flowers or Bishie Sparkles, it's of him walking away from an explosion like a badass after curb-stomping an entire gang of thugs as shown by the mountain of thoroughly beaten-up bodies.
  • Meaningful Name: Kou names the kitten "Konbini" (Japanese for "Convenience Store") since he had to beat up two thugs to rescue it from the parking lot of one.
  • Moment Killer: Twice Kou and Maki have an intimate, heartfelt moment only for it to be interrupted by external circumstances. The first was in chapter 1 where Kou almost confessed to Maki before an unexpected gust of wind ruined the umbrella and drenched them and the kitten. Later in chapter 4, the two become frustrated at their PDA being cut short by the untimely arrival of the thug pair from the previous chapter challenging them to another duel.
  • Nocturnal Emission: Maki gets a wet dream from imagining what it would be like with Kou being inside him, unsurprisingly leading to him washing his briefs which his sister mocks him for.
  • No Name Given: None of Kou and Maki's friends were named which is why they go by their appearances on the page such as Glasses Guy #1 and #2, Tall Brunette Guy and Wavy-Blonde Guy.
  • Only Known By His Nickname: Maki is short for "Makino" but is called the former by everyone except Miu who revealed it in the first place.
  • Patient Childhood Love Interest: As little as they were three, Maki knew about Kou's burning, long-standing crush on him all along but kept quiet for the fifteen years that followed until the latter was ready. This is evident by the number of times he let Kou get away with kissing him in his sleep and jerking off to his clothes. Alas, Maki got tired of him not making the first move anytime soon, since the feeling eventually became mutual, and had to break the silence by lying about getting a job in Tokyo to coax Kou into confessing.
  • Raging Stiffie: After spending the majority of the manga having The Loins Sleep Tonight, Kou finally got hard but unfortunately, he happened to do so in the middle of a public park. Maki is rightly worried Kou will get arrested if he walks around like this, especially how huge it is, so they end up having their first time on the park's restroom sink to calm it down.
  • Scary Teeth: Maki was born with shark-like teeth, which his sister Yoshino also has, that compliments his delinquent aesthetic and ups the intimidation factor. However, this is impractical at times during sex since he can't give blowjobs for obvious reasons and had a handkerchief in his mouth so he wouldn't bite his tongue off in reflex during his first time with Kou.
  • Single-Target Sexuality: Kou attributes his ED to his seemingly Unrequited Love for Maki, meaning he never had romantic or sexual feelings towards anyone except for him. Additionally, Kou constantly looks at porno magazines but feels nothing at all and kept the same poker-face throughout since the models are not Maki.
  • Social Circle Filler: The gang Kou and Maki hang around with during school consists of two wearing glasses, a taller brunette guy, one with wavy blonde hair and a slightly bigger crush on Kou. All of them don't serve much purpose other than being Satellite Characters.
  • Title Drop: An aroused Maki says the title in chapter 3 once it's his turn to have his way with Kou.
  • Umbrella of Togetherness: Since Kou broke his umbrella while fighting off some thugs to protect the kitten, Maki ends up sharing his umbrella with him. During their stroll, Kou almost confesses his feelings to Maki until a strong gust of wind damages that umbrella too and ruins the moment.
  • Wall Pin of Love: While they are alone in the classroom, Kou interlocks both his hands with Maki's and pushes him against the wall for a make-out session. Maki breaks out of it to demonstrate to Kou a better way of kissing more passionately.
  • The Worf Effect: Kou, who was established as The Ace when it comes to street fighting, gets taken out in one kick by the scrawny gang leader and has his arm broken from the force. His detractors pettily recorded the moment to upload online in an attempt to discredit him but Kou isn't deterred by it since he's more focused on recovering from his injuries.
