All spoilers will be unmarked ahead. You Have Been Warned!

While comedy isn't something James strictly aims for in his stories, that doesn't stop him from adding some humor into his stories now and then.
  • One of James' earliest stories is "Eggman Laser Whizzes on the Moon", a family-friendly take on a beloved meme.
  • "Sonic Zombies: Chao Garden" opens with characters blatantly Breaking the Fourth Wall more than once... while on the run from the zombies, prompting Cream to say this while shooting the zombies.
Cream: Less fourth-wall breaking and more storytelling!
  • DJ Octavio still makes music puns in the stories that feature him, and they're still hilarious. Even more hilarious is Sha'D'Oh Nightmare, who's otherwise a dead-serious antagonist, getting in on the fun during their interactions in "Octo-Trouble With Overlords".
  • The SMG4 gang suddenly waking up to find they've all taken on the appearance of anime in "When SMG4 Turned Into An Anime", followed by anime SMG4 engaging in a 1v1 with anime Bob, is all described in a way that's so ridiculous it's not hard to find funny.
  • Goggles' introduction in "SplatSquad vs Team Blue: One Legendary Turf Match-Up". According to Specs, Goggles has a habit of showing up in an undignified manner. His appearing in a speedo proves Specs right. Still, it could have been worse; he could have been naked like in the manga he was from.
  • When Bob first runs into Viger in "Hardware Store Trouble", the first thing the latter does is break out in rapping diss tracks. It's so unexpected and ridiculous, it's hilarious.
  • You can expect to see a few nut puns in "SMG2 Gets Nuts", which is about No Nut November. The title even qualifies as a nut pun.
  • Meggy in a penguin outfit during the events of "Meggy and Desti: Penguin Hanukah" is just as hilarious and adorable there as it was in "Little Penguin Lost"... only this time, she's in there willingly.
  • Sonic and Felicia's romantic date in "In The Silver Moonlight" provides this gem as Sonic is describing his latest victory over Dr. Eggman.
Sonic: Eggman tore several hairs out of his mustache and I gave him a stache-wedgie.
Felicia: (laughing) Oh, Sonic, that sounds so funny. You can't wedgie someone's mustache.
Sonic: The doc is a special case, especially with that big mustache.
Felicia: If that's a thing, then can your nose get wedgied...?
    Sonic: (blushing) N-No.
Felicia: (laughing again) I'm just kidding handsome. But your chili dog could use a wedgie tonight.
Sonic: Oh, Felicia. You are so... gorgeously silly... and sneaky.
    • Later on, they end up getting the hiccups after drinking too much wine.
  • "The Splatfest Rematch" opens with a recreation of the wacky hijinks the Glitchy Gang get into when gearing up for Splatfest in "The Splatfest Incident", particularly Mario chasing Boopkins with a Splattershot and Bob looking at anime magazines. Considering the point of the story was to delay the... interruptions for the sake of allowing a proper match, this makes sense.
  • Even James' scarier stories have a little bit of humor in them, mostly serving as End-of-Episode Silliness. After Metamorphosis Meggy is dealt with in "Meggy's Metamorphosis Nightmare", Meggy goes to take a shower... only to find a perverted teenage guest look at her naked body. In a Shout-Out to Tomb Raider II, she chases him away with her Splattershot.
  • After Mario smacks Lara's butt in "If Mario Was In Lara Croft", we get this exchange.
Lara: Mario, who just touched my butt?
Mario: Ee-hee. Oops, sorry. I was swatting at a fly.
Lara: Accident then? Did you get it?
    Mario: Pingas.
  • If there's one thing Spider-Man and Green Goblin's fight in "Peter and Mary Jane's Motorbike Lake Date" needs, it's some witty back-and-forth banter.
Peter: HEY, GOBLIN! YOU'RE TRASHING PUBLIC PROPERTY!
Green Goblin: The Lake Pontchartrain Bridge is more than that, Spider-Man! It's public domain, MEANING YOU CAN DEMOLISH IT, ANYTIME!
  • If you like fourth wall jokes, "Spider-Man and Spider-MJ: Goblin Trouble" has this line from Peter, who is getting a good glimpse of MJ with Spider-Man's powers.
Peter: I hope DC doesn't come for us, but that version of you is a wonder woman.
    • Also from "Goblin Trouble" is this dialogue with the Goblin himself as the heroes confront him.
Green Goblin: I waited very patiently.
Peter: If you call blowing up cars being patient, then you're wacked!
Green Goblin: Everyone needs a hobby. Even villains need something to do.
  • Another one of James' stories has some End-of-Episode Silliness after its resolution; this time, it's "Saiko Rocks: Seaside Saiko". After handling the Salmonid, Saiko takes a Waterfall Shower... only to find an Inkling boy watching her and making a Wolf Whistle. Not only that, but she also sees Meggy filming it with her camera. One of James' drawings illustrates this scene.
    Saiko: Really?
  • In case you need to be reminded that some SMG4 traditions will never truly die, Mario's nose enlarges when Meggy kisses him on the cheek in "Midsummer Intimacy At Mahi-Mahi Resort".
  • Despite Inklings' anime phobia, Team Killer Ink finds the time to do their Team Rocket motto in "Meggy's Big Splatfest". Meggy is quick to point out the irony.
  • Even when James Bond and Lara Croft are tracking down Goldfinger (who had just turned the latter into gold, albeit nonfatally) in "Golden Love", there's still room for silly conversations like this:
James: Honestly, the only gold I wouldn't mind fancy seeing you in is a gold dress...
    Lara: Or a golden bikini...
James: Yes, I suppose that works too.
    • This becomes a Brick Joke when Lara is seen in a golden bikini at the end.
  • After the defeat of Starro in "Starro Seaside Terror", Wonder Woman breathes a sigh of relief and sits down... on top of the bat plane.
Batman: Wonder Woman, your butt is blocking the view.
    • Related is the last line of the story from the narrator:
"Batman would have a hard time forgetting that he could have seen another starfish when Diana accidently sat on his plane's front view window..."
  • At The Stinger for "Intimacy on Wuhu", Link is massaging Cia's back... then ends up going a bit too low.
Cia: Massage my back, not my butt.
  • While Spiderman is complimenting Kasumi on their romantic date in "Flower Ninja Date", he gets a little sidetracked by her "hot cleavage".
Kasumi: My Eyes Are Up Here, Pete...
  • Even in a Villain Team-Up, Deadpool won't stop annoying Black Adam in "A Test of Power and Justice".
    • Deadpool's love for women returns when he hits on Wonder Woman as soon as he and Black Adam encounter her, and continues to hit on her during their fight with her, much to her annoyance.
Wonder Woman: ...one of you should be more polite and respectful towards women.
  • In a Shout-Out to The Simpsons, "Mario and The Last Minion" begins with Mario and SMG4 leaving the theater and talking about the movie they saw, which was The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Unfortunately, this discussion ends up spoiling big surprises for the people waiting at the theater who haven't seen it yet.
  • "Plant Monster Trouble" begins with Tifa helping Aerith with her garden, and then we get this exchange:
Tifa: Can I get you some soil?
Aerith: As long as you don’t dump it on my head, my hair is not for plants.
  • During the fight with the burglars in "Operation: Rescue Evelyn", Swagmaster deduces that some Inkling tried splattering some red ink on their tank. Only Chris points out that it's blood, not ink. Cue Swag freaking out.
  • "Swag and Chris' Tank Patrol Time" ends with Swagmaster and Chris saving the world from aliens... and with Mario getting his PINGAS stuck in the door once again.
  • Before the Mood Whiplash kicks in (courtesy of Z'or'ogh-Ro'gon), "Underpants vs LarryBoy: Dawn of Silliness" starts with a fun fight between Captain Underpants and LarryBoy as they use their signature goofy weapons and fighting moves on each other. Even when Awful Alvin gets involved, his weapons of choice are just as silly.
  • How do Mario and Meggy convince SMG4 to partake in the Tunnel of Doom in "SMG4 and the Tunnel of Doom Challenge"? By threatening to tell the world that he looks at dummy thicc memes online. SMG4 complies.
    • SMG4 gets some payback at the end:
Mario: Do you look at Mario’s internet history?
SMG4: I can tell you right now that you’re very obsessed with spaghetti memes!
  • If you like Hitler Rants, you'll like reading James' story where SMG4 subscribes to him... leaving Hitler himself thoroughly pissed off that people aren't taking him seriously.
  • Before the fight between Puss In Boots and Darth Vader in "Puss and The Sith", Puss says "now we know each other" after they both give each other their names, as if they were acquaintances.
  • The story "Wolverine Tries Grimace", where Wolverine treats drinking the then-trending Grimace shakes as if it were some major challenge in his life. And somehow, he survives them better than Deadpool does.
    • There's also Deadpool's quip in The Stinger.
Deadpool: You gotta admit that was bullshit. I mean, what’s next?
  • While evading the Watermelon Man in "Senbo and The Watermelon Man", Senbo throws some spaghetti at Peach and blames Mario for it. This becomes a Brick Joke when she confronts Senbo at the end of the story wielding a frying pan.
  • Some End-of-Episode Silliness shows up once again in "Dolphin Riding at The Seaside", where Chris and Tifa give a heartwarming speech about dolphins... that gets interrupted when the dolphin they were bonding with sprays them.
  • SMG3 getting extra-defensive of his notebook during "Mario's Trial", just like the SMG4 episodes the fic was based on.
    • Much like Saiko Rocks, SMG4 seems to think a court case is the best time to advertise SMG4 merch.
  • "Operation: Facility Infiltration" has some slight Ship Tease between Lara Croft and James Bond at one point, specifically after they split up during their mission.
Lara: (thinking) No, no, Lara. No naughty thoughts. You two aren’t THAT close. Focus.
  • "MJ and Cat's Pool Battle" has a pretty silly premise. Black Cat interferes with Peter and Mary Jane's romantic time at the pool. How do Mary Jane and Black Cat settle their dispute? Why, with a butt-bumping competition, of course!
  • While hugging and holding baby Jacob in "Jacob's First Time in The Pool", Makerboy says a barrage of cute baby things, concluding with "man, I hope you don't fart on me."
  • As usual, Chris and Swagmaster are a riot. "Bob Lives, Bois!" has Chris bring up something involving the Bikini Atoll, an actual place in real life, with Swagmaster reacting accordingly.
  • While "Voice Dilemma" isn't a very happy story, being James' response to Robyn Barry-Cotter no longer voicing SMG2 in fanfic form, there is one funny moment of SMG1—usually a serious character—not knowing his little buddy was voiced by a woman.
    • Later, after Bob voices his own concerns about the website where SMG4 gets his voice box shutting down in June, Mario comes in (having fallen off a pile of trash, no less) complaining about how rare it is for him to be fully voiced. Bob promptly tells him to screw off.
  • If you enjoy stories that feature a guy tapping on his significant other's buttcheeks as if they were drums, "Marooned For A Night" is for you.
  • "Mario Reacts to Godzilla Memes" captures the spirit of the SMG4 Crew videos where Mario reacts to memes. To start things off, Mario, thinking Godzilla is a Shoop Da Woop meme, uses a whistle he "borrowed" from Professor E. Gadd to summon the monster and try to unmask him. No. He doesn't, actually. He turns Godzilla into that particular meme while claiming he unmasked him. Either way, Shoop Da Woop Godzilla promptly "fires his lazer" at Mario.
    • Mario also finds that Godzilla was originally intended to be designed with the head of a mushroom cloud (which is actually true). Cue mushroom-cloud headed Godzilla right behind Mario.
    • One meme showed an incarnation of Godzilla (more specifically, Showa Godzilla) sliding on his tail in a goofy fashion, which Mario thinks is hilarious. He wonders if Godzilla flying is the next meme. Turns out, it is.
"Flying Godzilla, now that is something you don't see every day."
