All spoilers will be unmarked ahead. You Have Been Warned!

It really says something when a fanfic writer has so many stories on his plate that he has enough of a certain genre to warrant its own page.

  • Chris' parents dying in "Tifa Lockhart & Chris Thorndyke short story". Thankfully, he is soon Happily Adopted by Tifa Lockhart.
  • Joker's death in "Sonic x Harley Quinn: Twinkle Park Date" wasn't terribly sad (since he brought his death upon himself by angering Dr. Eggman with a prank, and he's, y'know, the Joker), but Harley's reaction is understandable, given their history.
  • What happened to Star Wars fandom character Daniel Star'lyte. Long story short, he was warned about Order 66 and tried to save his family and old master from it, but could only watch as they were all gunned down. Then he was hunted down by Darth Vader, whom he escaped, but lost an arm to in the process. Now he's starting a new life in the universe of Sonic the Hedgehog (SatAM).
  • "Bat-Hog" is essentially Sonic the Hedgehog with Batman's costume and gadgets. Sounds goofy, but it also has the same tragic origin story: the death of his parents.
  • Living in a city where the citizens are racist against your kind can take a mental toll on you, as shown in "Meggy's Destiny: Letting It Go". In it, Meggy is so overwhelmed by the racial discrimination that she basically gives up on her dream, reasoning that her promise to her late rival doesn't matter in the end.
  • Tari tearfully worrying that SMG4 will kill her off in “Fearing Fate”. Because the story was released at a time where the Meta Runner series finale was just around the corner, and the Tari in that series is strongly implied to be facing her doom (which ends up only being half-true, but still), her reaction is almost relatable in a way.
  • "The Demon Hunter and The Virus", James' version of the battle against Zero in "War of the Fat Italians 2021", still ends with Melony being forced to kill Axol to save the universe. This adaptation has our heroes being aided by Anti-Shroomy, a guy with demon-hunting as his profession—and for all intents and purposes, Zero is a demon. Yet the ending is a grim reminder that sometimes, You Can't Fight Fate.
  • "Inkantation and Destiny", inspired by an unfinished comic from Perry Martin (and granted permission by the original author), begins with the now-human Desti grieving for Meggy and vowing to win Splatfest for her—an inverse of what Meggy does in Meggy's Destiny. Only problem is, the team she recruited not only don't like her for the way she antagonized them, but mostly only joined her team either for their own selfish reasons or for Meggy and not Desti. The rival team openly stating how happy they are that Meggy died doesn't help matters.
  • The Stinger for "SMG3 Kidnaps Tari (Because He Felt Like It)" goes into a little more detail regarding how sad SMG3 felt when Tari supposedly died during the events of Saiko Rocks. He was likely regretting almost getting her run over by the train. Now imagine his potential guilt for all the other bad things he did while he was still a villain.
  • Swagmaster's sorrow over not having a redesign in "Desperate for A Redesign" is hard to read through, especially considering he was willing to hurt or even kill himself over it. Thankfully, Chris talks him out of it.
  • Tari having a nightmare about her death in the appropriately-titled "Vision of Fate", based on a supposedly leaked image on Twitter of her getting shot. Fortunately, this doesn't become a reality in SMG4 Movie: Western Spaghetti.
  • Speaking of Western Spaghetti, there's also "Alex and The Fallen Champion", where Creator/Makerboy confronts Wren for his actions upon encountering him in the story, unable to believe he and Meggy looked up to a monster. Worse, Wren tries to forcibly drag him into his simulation, just like he did with Meggy before, a fate Makerboy (barely) evades. See also this picture Makerboy made about the confrontation as a visual aid.
  • On August 21st, 2023, Nintendo announced that Charles Martinet will no longer be voicing Mario. To that end, James made a fanfic the following day, where Mario and Luigi react to the sad news in "So-A Long, Eh, Old Friend"note .
  • At one point in "Doki-Doki Date", during Makerboy 10's date with Saiko, due to not being used to being outside of the game she was pulled out of, Saiko's body start to glitch out, making Makerboy worry that his date is about to die. Thankfully, that doesn't happen, and their date ends on a happy note.
  • In "Voice Dilemma", James' response to some... controversies with SMG4 at the time, SMG2 learns about his voice actor stepping down due to complications involving Tari's voice actress being replaced without her being notified. He and SMG1 don't take it well, to say the least.
  • Mr. Puzzles (then just called the TV Adware) mocking Werner for his brother's death "The Trolling Adware". That's just mean-spirited, even for the character.
