All of the major characters of the first arc alone and that's even getting into the rest of the world

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part Nine: Stairway to Heaven is an ongoing Alternate Universe Fic fanfic by Roam Home For Glory that continues the story after Jojolion's hypothetical ending in the distant future.

It is the year 4021, the Locacaca Fruit has been modified into a more improved model called Eden's Fruit, which has led to longevity and heightened regeneration. It helped the world overcome an extinction-level pandemic along with a similar in function vegetable called the Forbidden Legume, and led to 99% of the populace developing Stands.

Unfortunately, like all things, it led to global conflict, which was ended when a mysterious man called the Star of the World declared that conflicts would be settled by a global tournament every ten years called the Star Tournament to declare the person who'd be the mediator between all nations.

2000 years later, the latest descendants of Josuke Higashikata, a seven-year-old, bespectacled boy named Joshua Joestar, and his mother, Joan Joestar being hunted down by the current Star of the World, Justiz Beliver due to a conspiracy involving the results of the previous tournament. Out of options, Joan uses the secret powers of Stonehenge, known only to the Joestars to summon the Joestars of another universe to aide them- Jonathan Joestar, Joseph Joestar, Jotaro Kujo, Josuke Higashikata, Giorno Giovana, Jolyne Cujoh, and two unknowns from before Jonathan's time.

Together, these ten Jojos embark on a quest to stop Justiz and the shadowy, eldritch powers behind him while eventually participating in the Star Tournament in 10 years.

It has a Deviantart page, which details the specifics of each character. under the artist Nectp.

It also has a prequel called JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 8.5 Rainbow In The Dark.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part Nine: Stairway to Heaven provides examples of:

  • Action Girl: Any girl shown in the part, regardless of personal combat prowess, is capable of fighting and most of the time outwitting their opponents in order to defeat them in unorthodox ways. Specific examples include all of the Pussycat Dolls, Felixa, Jamezella, Barneladi, Bom-Tu-Bom, and Joylne Cujoh.
  • Adaptational Badass: The Brando and Joestar lineage get this retroactively. Initially, it's assumed they were normal families who only became special due to special circumstances. It's then revealed that the lineages have been at war since the beginning of life itself, and having Stands from the beginning until the generations leading into George The 1st lost that capability until DIO's actions reawakened this possibility.
    • Individually, each of the major Joestars get a power-boost from their allies, making them much more powerful than they were in their respective Parts. Jonathan gains a suitably powerful Stand, Giorno's Stand becomes even more powerful than it already was, and Joseph finally gets a proper Fighting Spirit amongst other examples.
    • On the antagonists' side, each get a suitable power-boost to make them stronger than their depiction in their respective Part. Notably, Pucci's retroactively revealed to have his power-up, Whole World beforehand, with the depiction of his power-up, Made In Heaven being a convoluted illusion to distract the heroes while waiting for the New Moon- making the canon power-up an odd case of in-universe Adaptational Wimp as the events of the finale with Emporio's victory/arrival in the new universe all being apart of this illusion.
  • Ambiguous Gender: Doctor Candy's gender is officially non-binary, but zhey themselves state to be a third gender that appeared in the late 3010s that belong to neither women nor male.
  • Arch-Enemy: While DIO remains one of the Joestar's greatest enemies, it's retroactively revealed the entire Brando lineage has been the Joestar's enemies since the beginning of life itself, rather than starting with DIO.
    • Averted with the Brando family of the new continuity, while Diego having been miraculously revived by the Holy Corpse had been a rival to Johnny Joestar, he never felt the same animosity that his alternative counterpart both of them did towards the bloodline. The family would then settle for an Aloof Ally role following in the 2000 years the 2010s while other major villains took on the role.
  • Bad Guys Do the Dirty Work: Joan invokes this via having Erean left to be killed by Yoshikage Kira, not wanting to be arrested and let Joshua be sent to an orphanage for her impulsive decision. Letting Yoshikage do the deed negated a situation where Bar, Rett, and Syd would go after Joshua in Revenge.
  • Bald of Evil: Justiz Beliver/ Daze Zepelli has a noticeable bald spot on his head, being a pragmatic, but ultimately tyrannical despot that shuts down entire cities if they don't give him respect. Ironically, when he achieves his Story-Breaker Power of Light-Bringer, he gains significantly long hair. This leads to a widow's peak, as well as becoming incredibly obnoxious and losing what little redeeming qualities he had in the first place.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: Initially, Justiz was the source of the negativity in the part, but it's gradually revealed that there's a power called the Ocean Men/Authors behind him, and in his bid to defeat the Joestars, he summons DIO and the other previous villains aside from Kars, Funny Valentine and the Part 8 hypothetical villain- leaving three replacements, easily decide to do their own thing in conquering the world- ignoring Justiz completely.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: Justiz Beliver is ultimately this in spite of his influence in the first half of the story, barely being able to cooperate with DIO and the others of the Brando lineage enough so they don't ruin his plans. He's also a figurehead needed by the Ocean Men to achieve access to the Jojoverse world in order to conquer it.
    • Erean Davis Floyd, the mother of Bar, Rett, and Syd who initially pester Joshua and head of a company that denies insurance to the poor and chances for them to rank higher in society, lobotomizing the employees that pester her, making life difficult for Joan Joestar, and engaging in subtle abuse to her sons through favoritism. In the grand scheme of thing, she's only a threat due to her connections to Justiz's cabal, none of the employees have Stands powerful enough to fight back, and the fact that Joan Joan Joestar lacked her overwhelming Stand due to Joshua's pregnancy seemingly robbing her of this power- which would normally make her a monstrous person, but a nuisance to anyone competent. Once her antics reach the point that rumors start to spread, Justiz and even Erean's own husband plan to ditch her even if she didn't get subjected to a newly empowered Joan Joestar with an evolution to her already powerful Stand and left at the mercy of Yoshikage Kira who targeted for her lovely hands.
  • Bishōnen Line: It's ultimately revealed the reason that animals develop Stands as well is for this very reason. Animals began to exhibit heightened sapience traits after gaining a Stand, a certain few individuals began to undergo a metamorphosis into more anthropomorphic, humanoid forms, with the scale of how humanoid they look depending on the individual. They also become able to interbreed with humans. They also exhibit the power boost aspect, as they uniquely an abnormal power separate from Stands, called Muse, which give those animals the label of being called Players. They do this by being able to use unique powers by turning into a character from a mythology, movie, tv-show, video game, or art piece- anything recorded image that is not a book or music album cover can be potentially a Muse for a Player. Used in tandem with Stands, leads to a massive advantage over normal Stand users.
    • In terms of Stands, some of the Pussycat Dolls undergo this with their Stand evolutions. The most noticeable ones are Nabuna- whose Stand goes from an eerie chameleon humanoid to an elegant samurai warrior and Nilly whose Stand goes from a bird anthropomorphic bird humanoid akin to Magician's Red into a silver winged humanoid.
    • Averted with Kelly and Amba, whose Stands become more monstrous with their Stand evolutions.
    • The Ocean Men also capable of this. As the race is explored more and more, the representatives become increasingly larger and imposing until the final representatives are humanoid in body proportions, thought, and size. With their own leaders being either red-haired humans or Monstrous Humanoid beings.
  • Chekhov's Gun: The Joestar Birthmark, a seemingly significant indicator one was is from the Joestar lineage, turns out to be a means of empowering a Stand with evolutionary properties via the Go Beyond powerup.
  • Color Motif: The color Red is associated with the Ocean Men with Stands or Stand users with this color, having been influenced by them in the past.
  • Connected All Along: Enrico realizes that the new continuity was one created by Made in Heaven, or rather Whole World, the completed form of Pucci's Stand and that the finale of Part 6 had been an illusion created by Melt Your Heart he generated to halt the heroes from attacking him until the New Moon was reached, allowing C-Moon to become Whole World, the intended form of Made in Heaven. Only for Jolyne to still throw the plans off the rails with her evolved Stand, Iron Butterfly, taking out the Green Baby from Whole World, which merged with her and was later birthed into the man who became the Holy Corpse sought by Funny Valentine.
    • It's also revealed that Yoshikage Kira, Diavolo, and Pucci are all related to DIO due to sharing the same common ancestor.
  • Deliberate Values Dissonance: Jonathan, Joseph, Jotaro, and to a lesser extent, Giorno show intentional/unintentional disrespect towards women. While commonplace in their time, by the year 4021, sexism is outlawed and is an offense punishable by imprisonment.
  • Distant Sequel: takes place over 2000 years after Jojolion.
  • Eldritch Abomination: The Ocean Men, better known as the Authors, are the powers behind Justiz's rise to power. They come from the fifth dimension that deals with causality and are able to rewrite reality with their powers, even the weakest ones are capable of this.
  • Evil, Inc.: Electric Sun, the first evil antagonistic force of the Part, are a nefarious company with a corrupt leadership, only tolerated due to both a lack of Stand users capable of fighting them due to various ploys they schemed and the fact their leader, Justiz Beliver, is deemed the highest political power due to winning the competition, with his threats to shut down the major source of energy of the world if they don't comply with his demands.
    • It is later revealed the company was initially benevolent before it was secretly taken over by Justiz as a part of his scheme with the Ocean Men.
  • Homosexual Reproduction: It's stated in the story that because women overtaking males in the population, led to the genders being able to have children with same-sex couples. Eden's Fruit and the Forbidden Legume are heavily implied to be the cause of this evolutionary development.
  • Knight of Cerebus: The Ocean Men as a whole, but specifically the Ghostwriter-A: Adaptation. It immediately turns the somewhat humorous, but intense battle with Justiz Beliver into a traumatic fight for survival with the Pussycat Dolls at the time, being gradually overwhelmed and needing Joshua to be pushed to his limits to even survive.
    • DIO, Yoshikage Kira, Diavolo, Daemon, Ozborn, and King BB to a lesser degree, lacking the incompetence of Justiz's forces- allying with the Ocean Men to use them to achieve their individual objectives.
  • More Deadly Than the Male: It's gradually revealed that between 2021 and 4021, the female populace gradually began to get more powerful due to the influence of Eden's Fruit/Forbidden Legume, leading to them slowly outclassing males in every area. By 4021, 90% of humanity is female with males being 10%.
    • While Lennon Harrison is deemed the strongest man alive, he's absolutely outclassed by every single one of the Pussycat Dolls, Even before they undergo a Next Tier Power-Up.
    • It's heavily implied this is the reason as to why Joshua being a hermaphrodite as women by this time have a natural advantage in combat.
  • Outside-Context Problem: Compared to Stand Users, Vampires, Pillar Men, and Rock Humans, the Ocean Men are complete unknown, being Eldritch Abomination entities from a different plane of existence whose way of fighting is alien and unorthodox to how fights have gone so far.
  • Outside-Genre Foe: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure while having many weird elements such as vampires, psychic manifestations with esoteric powers that allow virtually anything to have the power, ancient super-vampires, a humanlike race of silicon beings, etc- had been generally grounded in reality. The Ocean Men a godlike race of extra-dimensional beings from another plane of existence who operate on a power system so alien that the usual way of fighting is ineffectual.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: A significant feature amongst the Ocean Men is that the specimens thus far have completely red sclera with massive black pupils. And all have been hostile to humanity and life in the Jojoverse.
  • The Reveal: Joylne and Pucci come to the revelation that the events of Part 6's finale never happened as C-Moon had used Whitesnake's Melt Your Heart to stall the heroes, allowing it to become its intended form, Whole World by the time the heroes woke up by the New Moon. In spite of this, Jolyne still manages to throw the plan off the rails be taking in Green Baby from Pucci, which was later birthed into the man who would become the Holy Corpse sought during the Steel Ball Run within the universe inadvertently created through Jolyne's actions.
    • Dio's assumption that his Brando lineage is proven wrong as it is revealed that Dio's mother, named Diona, was a descendant of the Brando lineage.
    • The meteors that land on earth, notably the ones that caused mass extinctions are the source of the capability to use Stands, preceding the first official account of the origin of the Arrow.
    • The Joestar and Brando lineages rather than being normal people thrust into the bizarreness they became accustomed to, were actually rivals since the beginning of life itself with their rivalry continuing through the eons until the first universal reset.
    • Yoshikage Kira, Diavolo, and Pucci are retroactively all descendants of the Brando lineage having scoured the earth to expand their lineage, in Diavolo's case the means were much more unusual than initially assumed.
  • Sanity Slippage: Justiz Beliver immediately undergoes this as he evolves Trick Of the Light into Lightbringer. He loses his reserved personality to act more obnoxious and vain, changing his goal from exploiting the Ocean Men in order to steal their resources to fuel his products to maintain the world's sustainability into being a Godhood Seeker, willing to let the world be devoured by the Ocean Men as long as he rules over the remainders of humanity. It's heavily implied the Ocean Man Ghostwriter A did it in order to make him an easier target to take down.
  • Serial Escalation: In keeping the series' conventions, everything has been escalated from the previous parts.
    • The most notable is that in comparison to previous Parts where Stands were kept to the shadows to select individuals. The majority of the population now have Stands.
    • There are new ranks to the Stand Parameter, Omega, Beyond Omega Tier, and Incalculable, which in turn, makes the previous impressive A rank unimpressive in comparison.
    • Reality Warping and Time Stands, which had been rare occurrences, usually belonging to the Big Bad of the Part or occurring near the end, are now common place with specializations for those powers.
    • The ultimate enemy is a race of metaphysical beings that are able to bend reality by altering it like a story.
    • The Fusion Dance aspect of Part 8, which had been treated as a sacrifice, has now been rendered a means to power-up to create even more insanely powerful Stands.
    • While animal Stand users appeared in previous parts, there are now Beast Man with Stands.
  • Specs of Awesome: Joshua Joestar, Felixa Bernard, all of the Pussycat Dolls, Loy Wood, Mr. Styx, Uljoron Scorpion, Ozborn Brand, etc- essentially almost all of the major protagonists or antagonists possess eyewear they prominently wear for eyesight while being equally badass. Subverted in the case of Erean Davis Floyd, who is more of a Big Bad Wannabe.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Both the heroes and villains in the previous parts receive upgrades from their respective allies, allowing them to compete against the stronger enemies.
    • Giorno Giovanna is a particularly notable example as his Stand, Golden Experience Requiem was already one of the strongest Stands with its ability to reset actions to zero and cause infinite deaths. It manages to make it even more impressive than its already godlike power Its Of Heaven upgrade is a can control the concept of truth in a surprisingly versatile manner that bends reality, its infinite death activation can now be applied to striking the animals it creates, its limitations of what kinds of animals is greatly reduced and attacking the enemy with G.E.R.Of Heaven, the enemy is made to have never existed.
    • In typical JoJo fashion, Joshua gradually becomes stronger as the part goes on, with him managing to evolve his Stand into a Story-Breaker Power at the midpoint of the narrative.
    • The previous heroes of the previous part, either have all gained power-ups to their Stands during the Time Skip or manage to get their Stands to reach new levels during a fight with the current enemy.
  • Ultimate Life Form: The Ocean Men/Authors are this to all of existence. Being beings that are able to continuously adapt and evolve to combat dangers. The first one that is introduced in the series easily killed the first Arc Villain, who had at that moment gained a godlike power of being capable of traveling across spacetime and traveling through time at his prime once he served his purpose- being capable of adapting and becoming immune to whatever defeated it the first time around - required an Eleventh Hour Super Power of Joshua being able to sever its connections to its own broken powers in order to defeat it. This same one was just the weakest member of the group.
