Artwork for VOCALOID3
A Vocaloid created in collaboration with GYNOID Co., Ltd. and YAMAHA. She is the first Vocaloid to have a Taiwanese voice provider, and has a Taiwanese accent as a result. Her voice is provided by Wang Wenyi.

  • School Uniforms are the New Black: She wears her school uniform under her idol outfit.
  • The Unintelligible: Taiwanese users have commented that they have trouble understanding her, while Mainland Chinese users say her accent is too thick to hear properly.

flower is the first Vocaloid created by GYNOID Co. Ltd., published through YAMAHA. She is described as a Kuudere. Her voice is well known for its boyish qualities, which allows her to be used for tomboyish or young male roles. She was released for digital download on May 9th, 2014, with her V4 update following suit on July 16, 2015.

Her original design was drawn by Yamako of HoneyWorks, while her subsequent designs were done by miwasiba.

flower was added as an option for the Gynoid Talk program in 2020, making her the third character after Meika Hime and Mikoto. Later still she obtained a CeVIO voicebank and an additional version, titled "Ci Flower", in 2021.

  • all lowercase letters: Her name.
  • Ambiguous Gender Identity: In the hit song "Villain" by Teniwoha featuring Flower, it's not made explicitly clear what the gender the character being portrayed identities as. In the video, the character has an androgynous appearance that can either be seen as masculine or simply tomboyish depending on the visual, and the ambiguous lyrics have them saying "I pretend to be a boy in front of you", making it unclear if the character is an insecure trans man or a closeted trans woman.
  • Bifauxnen: Downplayed; her V4 design makes her look like a cute young boy rather than a tall and sexy adult man. It was fitting, considering the fact that it was based on a gender-bent fan design.
  • Boyish Short Hair: Her V4 design features her with this hairstyle. Interestingly, it was originally based on a fan-made Rule 63 design.
  • Breakout Character: Zig-zagged, as she's far more popular as a voicebank than she is as the mascot attached to the voicebank. In recent times, though, her popularity as a character has begun to catch on, leading some producers to use her design in their music videos.
  • Cool Big Sis: Despite being officially described as a Kuudere, fan portrayals of her tend to portray her as an older sister figure to the other Vocaloids that she interacts with in fanworks.
  • Costume Porn: We dare you to describe her Pistil outfit to someone.
  • Desperately Craves Affection: In "Appetite of a People-Pleaser", she experiences a Loss of Identity as she tries harder and harder to please everyone.
And now that I've become the perfect identity
    What else do you need?
'Cus I dunno who I'm supposed to be anymore
    And I'm starving

I’ll purge ‘em all, the thoughts of anyone I’ll ever meet
    Why aren’t you happy?
Nonetheless, I know my insides are empty
    Aren’t I more than everything?
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: She has a see-through detached sleeve on one arm. On the other, it looks like a bandage.
  • Flower Motifs: flower's first two designs are officially known as her "Pistil" form (V3) and her "Stamen" form (V4).
  • Gayngst: In Abnormality Dancing Girl. Implied to have lead to a Gayngst-Induced Suicide.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: A minor example. She wears a lot of black and purples, but she is a Kuudere.
  • Improbable Hairstyle: Her hair is hard to describe. Think Girlish Pigtails, except coming out of the same hairband on the top of the head, crossed with Spiky Hair, and you have a basic picture.
  • Kuudere: Her official website describes her as such, although they do not specify what type.
  • Lady Looks Like a Dude: In her V4 box art, one unfamiliar with Flower could easily mistake her for a young boy.
  • Ship Tease: Tends to be used to play the often male love interest to Miku-voiced characters in a number of their producer-made duets.
  • Tomboy: While not as emphasized in her V3 design, fanon liked to prescribe her with this personality thanks to her Tomboyish Voice. Her V4 design is decidedly more boyish, making this Ascended Fanon. As well, when used in songs to portray female characters, they're often tomboys.
  • Tomboy with a Girly Streak: Her Gynoid Talk and eventual Ci flower designs have combined feminine and tomboyish elements.
  • The Ophelia: Again, Abnormality Dancing Girl. Fittingly, as her name is "Flower" and Ophelia often is portrayed as an Innocent Flower Girl after she loses it.
  • Updated Re Release: She has had three; her boyish 2015 V4 redesign, her blended 2020 Gynoid Talk design, and her feminine-leaning CeVIO design.
  • Vocal Dissonance: Her original Pistil, Gynoid Talk, and Ci flower designs are all noticeably feminine, but her voice has been described as 'androgynous' with boyish leaning vocals, giving her the ability to portray both men and women in songs. Her V4 character design better reflects her voice, however.
  • You Don't Look Like You: Her updated designs could pass as different characters, with her CeVIO design taking the cake for not looking like the VOCALOID Flower at all save for the black, feathered part of her hair.

VOCALOID5

    Meika Hime & Mikoto

Meika Hime/Meika Mikoto

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/meika_transparent.png
The second original pair of voice banks by GYNOID Co., though the 7thnote  released overall for VOCALOID5. Hime and Mikoto are distinguished by their mid range vocals: Hime's voice can go higher and is more feminine, while Mikoto's is more boyish and is suited for lower ranges. Their samples are provided by Kotori Koiwai.

Similar to GUMI's Megpoid Talk and Otomachi Una's TalkEX, the pair has a separate "Gynoid Talk" feature that allows them to speak in full sentences.

  • Anthropomorphic Personification: They're said to be the "spirits" of plums.
  • Ambiguous Gender: Word of God states that despite their feminine voices and appearances, the Meikas are "free of gender". Some have taken this to mean that they're nonbinary, while others see it as their genders being up for interpretation.
  • Ambiguously Related: While they share the same surname and look quite similar, GYNOID has taken the Crypton approach to their characters and left their relation to each other up to interpretation, similarly to the Kagamines.
  • Hair-Contrast Duo: Hime has a personality akin to a Genki Girl, with pinkish hair to match it, while the more reserved Mikoto has blue hair.
  • Motifs: They deliberately take off from flower's gender motif, with Hime being feminine (matching V3/"Pistil" flower) and Mikoto being tomboyish (matching V4/"Stamen" flower). Character-wise, they're also said to be androgynous.
  • No Biological Sex: Implied, as they're not humans to begin with and are canonically described as "free from gender".
  • Non-Human Non-Binary: Overlapping with Otherworldly and Sexually Ambiguous, the MEIKAs are confirmed to be genderless because they're spirits rather than humans.
  • Otherworldly and Sexually Ambiguous: According to Word of God, they're intended to be spirits and do not have any gender, as such.
  • Our Spirits Are Different: Plum spirits.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Hime is the more energetic of the two, while Mikoto is more reserved. Literally too, as their regular outfits are miko-styled costumes with horns. This trope would come into play in the Meika's shorts, where Hime does most of the talking while Mikoto answers with simple responses.
