Straw Hat Pirates

    Monkey D. Luffy

Monkey D. Luffy

Captain of the Straw Hat Pirates who makes up for his idiocy with brawn and heart. His dream is to be the Pirate King.

  • All-Loving Hero: When he see Jones's One Piece pendant, he decides it means she's one of his crewmates, and so he won't allow her to be alone and in pain any longer.
  • Celibate Hero: He's utterly confused when Johnny and Yosaku kiss in front of the crew, and his brothers' reactions are to hope that he doesn't ask them to explain, seeming to indicate that he doesn't even understand romantic/sexual attraction.
  • Heroic BSoD: When he believes Jones dead because she tried to protect Vivi, he takes it very badly, because he's supposed to be strong enough to not lose anyone again, yet he was unable to protect one of his crewmates. Even worse is the fact he knew Jones tried to kill herself and didn't want her to hurt herself again.
  • You Are Not Alone: He reminds Jones she's his now, and a Straw Hat Pirate. The entire crew cares for her and doesn't want her to die or be hurt again.

     Roronoa Zoro

Roronoa Zoro

Boatswain and de facto first mate of the Straw Hat Pirates, a warrior who wields three swords and aspires to become the World's Greatest Swordsman.

  • Charles Atlas Superpower: He's the second strongest fighter on the crew, and holds that position simply because he has the muscles and fighting skills for it.
  • Noble Demon: He's easily the most bloodthirsty member of the Straw Hats, always up for a good fight, but he follows a strict code of honor in the vein of Bushido: loyalty (he'll die for Luffy), honesty (he hates lying), integrity (will never attack from behind), and hard work (his strength comes from almost a decade straight of training).

    Nami

Nami

Navigator and Treasurer of the Straw Hat Pirates, a treasure-loving master of meteorology who dreams of drawing a map of the entire world.

  • Money Fetish: She's the trope picture for a damn good reason.
  • Secret-Keeper: She's the only person on the crew that knows Jones's full name.

    Usopp

Usopp

Sniper of the Straw Hat Pirates, a coward and liar with unequaled marksmanship skills who dreams of becoming as great a pirate as his father.

    Sanji

Sanji

Chef of the Straw Hat Pirates, a lady-loving man with unparalleled culinary skills and kicks stronger than cannons. He dreams of finding the All Blue, a legendary sea where dwell all species of fish in the world.

  • Charles Atlas Superpower: The third strongest fighter on the crew, and like Zoro, got there purely because of melee skill and strength.
  • Insistent Terminology: Whenever the matter of his parentage comes up, Jones insists that his true father is Zeff.
  • Wouldn't Hit a Girl: And how...though Jones is an exception by her insistence.

    Tony Tony Chopper

Tony Tony Chopper

Doctor of the Straw Hat Pirates, a reindeer given intelligence thanks to the Human-Human Fruit who dreams of finding a cure for all illnesses.

    Jones

Jones

The story's Author Avatar, counterbalancing martial arts skills and ingenuity in writing and science with depression and social anxiety that the Straw Hats help her to overcome. Her full name is Jones Faye Keira.

  • Accidental Aiming Skills: crossed with Improbable Aiming Skills. Jones struggles to hit something she is directly aiming at, but she has made impressive shots while she can't see the target or fires without aiming at all.
  • Ambiguous Disorder: She's certainly depressed and very socially anxious. Now, it's unclear if she's naturally this way or if that's because she was bullied.
  • Apologizes a Lot: She's Canadian, it comes with the territory.
  • Attack Reflector: Jones ate the Force-Force Fruit, which basically turned her into a living Impact Dial. She can absorb physical energy and then release it.
  • Badass Longcoat: Wears one made by Ghin starting shortly before Jaya.
  • Blind Without 'Em: Her glasses are a centimeter thick.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: She quickly understands she's in a Self-Insert Fic and promptly adopts a Deadpool-like opinion about it.
  • Cloud Cuckoo Lander: When she starts breaking the fourth wall and making references, she certainly appears to be this. Johnny and Yosaku tell her it's kinda freaky.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Her code of honor runs contrary to Zoro's; her loyalty to the crew takes precedence over honesty and integrity. She won't hold anything back if it's for the sake of the crew.
  • Cordon Bleugh Chef: A Running Gag is that the rest of the crew refuses to let her cook. The first time she tried, she put so much ginger in the broth that Luffy was disgusted.
  • Driven to Suicide: How she ended up in One Piece- she was so depressed she tried to drown herself after cutting her wrists.
  • Foreign Cuss Word: She often uses sacre, her most recurring swears being merde, tabarnak and osti d'épais de marde (basically shit, fuck and holy fucking shit).
  • Friend to All Living Things: If something is cute, she's gonna pet it. She managed to befriend Mr. 13 and a sea cat this way.
    • Fluffy Tamer: She can command a dragon and was able to protect the Merry by nicely asking a cat-shaped sea king for its help.
  • Hates Being Touched: If she doesn't consider you a friend, she won't be comfortable with you touching her...except in sparring.
  • Heart Is an Awesome Power: Besides her status as a living Attack Reflector, Jones can also manipulate other kinds of Newtonian forces in a variety of ways, like increasing the friction of her body to climb walls.
  • Lady Looks Like a Dude: Somewhat ambiguous appearance, and thanks to damage from ammonia in the Baratie arc, her voice becomes ambiguous as well.
  • Meaningful Name: Quite aside from the fact that the name Jones is associated with pirates through Davy Jones, when she tells Nami her full name, Jones gives her middle name as Faye. This means "of the fairies" or "magical," and given that Jones likes to call herself a witch, it seems fitting.
  • Medium Awareness: She's not slow to realize she's in a Self-Insert Fic and frets about being a bland powerhouse.
  • More Expendable Than You: Tries to pull this off when she almost gets eaten by a T-Rex to save Vivi. Luffy is not happy with her decision.
  • Not Afraid to Die: Jones frequently acts this way, as in the above mentioned moment when she was saving Vivi; in part, it stems from a combination of her mental issues and the fact that she isn't native to the One Piece world and sometimes feels that she's not supposed to be there. Can cause friction with other members of the crew when she puts herself in dangerous situations, to the point where Luffy repeatedly tells her she's not allowed to die.
  • Signature Laugh: "Sesehihihi!"
  • Stepford Smiler: She is very good at putting on a fake smile, but it doesn't take the Straw Hats long to learn how to see through it, especially Luffy.
  • To Be a Master: Her dream, solidified in the Alabasta arc, is to learn all of the world's martial arts.
  • The Tell: According to Ghin, Jones unconsciously ties her bandanna differently based one her current gender mentality. She uses a square knot when masculine, and a granny knot when feminine.
  • Wall Crawl: She can climb walls like a spider by channeling friction to the relevant parts of her body.

    Ruatha

Ruatha

A young Millennial Dragon. Jones saved him from dying in his own egg, and subsequently adopted him as her child/pet.

    Ghin

Ghin

Formerly the First Division Commander of the Krieg Pirates, Jones's intervention resulted in him joining the crew after the Baratie arc.

  • An Arm and a Leg: Loses an arm protecting Jones during the battle against Blackbeard.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Towards Jones, who really needs someone watching over her. It's also mentioned he had this for a little girl named Tippy when he still was a street rat, and it's heavily implied that something very, very bad happened to her.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Packing bandages, a change of clothing, and tuna with a giant ball of yarn definitely qualifies him for this.
  • Good Is Not Nice: He was Krieg's man before joining the Straw Hats, and we're reminded of this little fact when he waterboards Mr. 3 to force him to help.
  • Hidden Depths: Has a great singing voice. Who would have thought it?
  • Team Mom: The crew's resident mother hen.

    Johnny and Yosaku

Johnny and Yosaku

Former bounty hunters and old friends of Zoro's, they joined the Straw Hat Pirates after the Arlong arc.

    Lisa

Lisa, a.k.a. Miss Goldenweek

Formerly an Officer Agent of Baroque Works, Jones fought through her Colors Trap and saved her from dinosaurs on Little Garden. Thus impressed, she abandoned her loyalty to Baroque Works and now sails with the Straw Hats.

  • Ascended Extra: From a minor antagonist in one arc to a vital ally for the rest of the saga.
  • Badass Adorable: A tiny twelve-year-old who was enlisted in Baroque Works for a reason.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: The reason why she sticks with the Straw Hats? Jones treated her as the little girl she was rather than a grown-up.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: We don't know what happened to make her leave her home island, but we do know it was traumatic.
  • Emotion Bomb: The main effect of her paints, making it her modus operandi in combat.
  • Fragile Speedster: When you're tiny and twelve, punching someone into submission is not an option, forcing her to rely on her hypnotic paints.
  • Take a Level in Badass: Begins to add bindrunes to her paints to amplify the effects of her hypnosis.

    The Unluckies

Drifter and Geier, a.k.a. Mr. 13 and Miss Friday

Police officers from a small island, they left home and joined Baroque Works in search of an unspecified someone. After Crocodile's defeat, the duo joined up with the Straw Hats in the hopes that it would help them find whoever they're looking for.

  • Ascended Extra: From minor antagonists to valued crew mates.
  • Hidden Depths: You'd never guess from their initial actions that Drifter is a Mountie.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: Otter. In. A. Mountie. Uniform.
  • Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: Geier is an Andean condor, one of the largest birds in existence (at least in the real world); her wingspan is more than three times the length of Drifter's body.

    Nico Robin

The last archaeologist of Ohara, Nico Robin initially tries to distance herself from the crew, despite attempts by Luffy and Jones to make her feel at home.

    Toma

A young man who wants to master the sword of justice, Toma joins the crew as Zoro's apprentice.

  • Ascended Extra: He was initially a character from one of the movies.
  • Aura Vision: He doesn't really know the how and the why, but he's able to see people and some objects glow in different colors.
  • Shout-Out: The only named technique he's been shown using so far is called Ryutsuisen.
