Voiced by: Jenifer Lewis
Suga Mama's older sister, who she's not on good terms with. She only appears in "Penny Potter".
  • Asshole Victim: She suffers what turns out to be a painful spell caused by Suga Mama reflecting the magic back at her with a garbage can. Given that she had spent the past few days badmouthing Oscar for literally no reason at all beyond her view of him as a "boob", pretty much everyone considers it a suitable punishment.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: She's pretended to be a nice person to everyone, even Oscar. After he openly admits he wished she was his mother, after leaving the room, it's shown to the audience and her assistant Shaza she has a very low opinion of him.
  • Bright Is Not Good: Her signature outfit is pink and purple like Suga Mama's, but her soul is as black as the night itself.
  • Broken Pedestal: While it isn't outright said, the fact she's never mentioned again makes it clear Oscar doesn't hold a high opinion of her anymore.
  • Cain and Abel: The Cain to Suga Mama's Abel.
  • Color Motif: Pink, to go with her sickly sweet personality as well as Suga Mama’s signature outfit.
  • Con Man: She tricked Zoey into thinking she's a psychic to rip people off into thinking they can pay to have powers too.
  • Hate Sink: In a show where even nice people like Penny and Trudy have moments of being unpleasant and jerks like Oscar and LaCienega can have their nice bits, Spice is one of the only exceptions. She pretended to be nice to her nephew just to annoy her sister, ripped people off with false promises of psychic powers and was more than willing to let Oscar take the fall for her. She even left her own apprentice, Zoey, at the mercy of her enraged audience.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Sista Spice is an asshole, but she did make a good point on how people should stop doubting themselves and remove the word “can’t” from their vocabulary to maximize their self confidence. Also, she was the one who helped Zoey gain confidence in herself (she was right in the beginning, but when it was during the show, it was just an act).
  • Parental Favoritism: She was favored over her younger sister Suga Mama.
  • Smug Snake: Sista Spice is a con artist who relies on trickery with some confidence to boot.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: She's last seen being levitated off the ground after Suga Mama redirected her psychic blast at her. Did she leave town, get arrested or even left that way forever? Regardless, the Prouds more than likely renounced her and she's no longer welcomed in their home.

    Ray Ray Proud Jr.

Voiced By: Jamal Mixon
Penny's third cousin (the son of Oscar's cousin).
  • Big Eater: He and his baby brother S'mo eat an entire dinner that was prepared for the family and their visiting relatives.
  • Gentle Giant: He's a big boy with a friendly nature.

Boonetta and Ray Ray Proud Sr.

Voiced By: Anthony Anderson and Monique
Oscar's cousin and his wife.
  • Big Eater: According to Trudy, they ate her and Oscar's wedding cake.
  • The Bus Came Back: Ray Ray Sr. finally returns in Louder and Prouder in the episode "The Soul Vibrations" where he helps Penny and the others get into the back to see Giselle. According to Oscar, the reason he's been gone for so long is because Oscar had blocked him over 10 years go for not paying him back $10 that he lent to him.
  • Fat and Proud: His fatness is only second to his colorful personality.
  • No Indoor Voice: Most of the time, he talks pretty loud.
  • Innocently Insensitive: They mean well and act friendly but they do cause a few problems with Trudy's family from being clueless about how the Parkers respond to their behavior.
  • Oblivious to Love: According to Giselle, she had a thing for Ray Ray Sr., but he never got any of her signals. Considering how beautiful and successful Giselle turned out to be, this really wrecked him.
  • Obnoxious In-Laws: Subverted. They're very friendly and jovial, most of the problems they cause with the Parkers being from oblivious mistakes. It's implied Trudy finds them grating because of their lack of social awareness but they only really start acting up when the Parkers keep being abrasive to them.
  • Pet the Dog: Comes to Boonetta's aid when Rueben accuses her of moving during a game of "red light green light".
  • Slobs vs. Snobs: They have this vibe with Trudy's family.

    Pa Towne
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/patheheartless.png
Voiced By: Glynn Turman
Suga Mama's father.
  • Abusive Parents: In most of his screen time, he only seems to put down Suga Mama.
  • Boyfriend-Blocking Dad: When Pa found out about Suga Mama's plan to elope with Quanah so they could get married, Pa stopped this from happening by hanging Quanah upside down over a cliff and threatened to down drop him.
  • Bear Hug: How he welcomes Oscar to the family—with a large, squeezing hug.
  • Grandparent Favoritism: He never got to know his grandson, but after seeing him be a natural cowboy, he’s grown fond of him. Oscar couldn’t be happier to have an elder relative that respects him.
  • Hidden Depths: Based on what Myrtle told Trudy as they were about to part ways, all Pa would ever talk about was his "Little Bit" (whom he called Suga Mama). This means that even if he looked down on her, part of him was fixated on her departure, affecting him more than he'd like to admit.
  • Jerkass: It’s implied that he doesn’t like Suga Mama too much mainly because she’s a woman. He even discredits any good thing she does.
  • Jerkass to One: A Crueler to One example. He's naturally depicted as rude towards everyone unless they've done something to earn his respect, and are males. For his daughter, he goes out of his way to show her how little he respects her.
  • Older Than He Looks: He should be long dead given his daughter is already an elderly person, so naturally, he's this.
  • Pet the Dog: After seeing Oscar's natural skills at being a cowboy, he welcomes Oscar into the family and showers him with love and support. Oscar is so unaccustomed to receiving love and respect from an elder family member he breaks down in tears, and Pa doesn’t even shame him for it.
  • Stay in the Kitchen: His attitude towards women in general. He only values them for cooking meals and being mothers.
  • Straw Misogynist:
    • He doesn’t allow Suga Mama to participate in the Town rodeo simply because she’s a girl.
    • He gives Suga Mama a backhanded compliment of how "she did something right" by having Oscar as a son (he discredits all of her other traits and only compliments her for being a mother).
  • Wanted a Gender-Conforming Child: He dismisses the fact that Suga Mama is tomboyish and just tells her to go cook dinner when she shows how good she is at bull riding.

Trudy's Side

    Diana Parker
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_1048.PNG
Voiced by: Sheryl Lee Ralph
Trudy's older sister, who visits the rest of the family occasionally. Diana lives out in New York City, where she is a professional Broadway actress. She tolerates Suga Mama, but nevertheless follows the Parker "party line" of considering Oscar and his cousins to be less-than-desirable folks. She is not shy about expressing this viewpoint, and turns down Bobby's romantic affections towards her. Diana only appears in "Romeo Must Die" and "Behind Family Lines". It is during her visit in Wizville the first time that she helps Penny prepare for the role of Juliet in Romeo and Juliet.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Is called "Aunt Dee" by Penny.
  • Fiery Redhead: She is a sweetheart to both Penny and her sister, but she is mostly this towards Oscar and his cousins because she sees them as mongrels and not worth the crud on her boots.
  • Foil: To her sister Trudy in "Romeo Must Wed", who's a lot more mild-mannered and modest in comparison to her rich and famous older sister. According to Trudy, it's just "the diva in her" and it occasionally lets Diana walk all over Trudy.
    • To Bobby in "Behind Family Lines". Bobby, Oscar's older brother, is an unsuccessful singer who lives with his mother and is pleasant to his brother's family. Diana is Trudy's older sister who is a very rich and successful Broadway actress who won't hesitate to express annoyance to her brother-in-law or his extended family.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: While Penny and Trudy adore her, it's strongly implied that they're the only ones. Oscar obviously despises her for treating him like a servant, and while Suga Mama enjoys getting gifts from her, the rest of the family from Oscar's side has to tolerate her presence. It's possible even Bobby's devotion to Diana is more out of lust, than actual love, considering how focused he is on warming up to her.
  • Kick the Dog: She has no problem casually talking smack about Oscar's relatives in his presence. This turns out to be a big mistake for her, however, as a pissed off Boonetta involuntarily threatens to "bring da noize" on her.
  • Master Actress: She is considered to be a great actress.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: Aside from sharing a first name, she does have a vague resemblance to Diana Ross.
  • Obnoxious In-Laws: To Oscar. Not that he deserves it entirely, but even him and Suga Mama and their cousins find Diana too snooty and obnoxious to bear.

    Chanel Parker
Voiced By: Solange
Rueben and Leslie's beloved daughter and Penny's cousin. Initially, she's an attractive Alpha Bitch who's opinion of Penny and her room is not very high. Of course, Rueben and Leslie turn a blind eye to her negative traits and act as though Chanel were the perfect daughter, and even she tries to correct herself. By the events of "Behind Family Lines", Penny has not seen Chanel since the fifth grade. After the adults begin to fight with Oscar's cousins, Chanel starts to change and ultimately she is the only member of the Parker family to make a complete Heel–Face Turn before the end of the episode.
  • Bully Turned Buddy: She spends the first few minutes being nothing but condescending to Penny, but then sides with her when her parents go to war with Oscar's cousins.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Normally, she has a dour opinion of her Aunt Trudy's home. After her Heel–Face Turn, however, it hits her that her parents are intolerable. Chanel is actually horrified by this since she, like Penny and Ray Ray Jr., see each other as family. It gives her the courage to try to reprimand her family for fussing and fighting.
  • Lovable Alpha Bitch: She's a bit stuck up and can't hide that she's used to living in a nicer home than the Proud Family's house, but she seems pleased about the Twins baptism and gets along with Penny and Ray Ray Jr. while their parents are busy fighting for most of the episode.
  • Graceful Ladies Like Purple: She's constantly wearing a purple sweater.
  • The Hedonist: Prior to her Heel–Face Turn, she really doesn't care much about Penny and her room, enjoying herself and not hiding the fact that she is used to sleeping in a place with a concierge.
  • Heel–Face Turn: After seeing her parents fighting because of their differences in social circles, she comes to realize that they are intolerable. Between that and her, Penny and Ray Ray Jr. ending up apprehended by Sunset Boulevardez, she starts treating her cousins much nicer afterwards. By the time of the epilogue, she and Penny actually have a quite admirable relationship with each other.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She's mildly rude and boorish at first but later becomes a more behaved girl later on.
  • Not So Above It All: She's much less uptight than her parents, which gets shown when the kids take off rather than deal with the adults arguing. She's even the one to suggest using her dad's truck to get away for a bit.

    Rueben Parker and Leslie Parker
Trudy and Diana's brother and sister in law.
  • Cool Car: He has a fancy SUV from a model not out on the market.
  • Evil Uncle: Not quite evil, but still snobby to Oscar's cousins.
  • Happily Married: For all his other flaws, he and Leslie really love each other.
  • Obnoxious In-Laws: Zigzagged. He's perfectly nice to Oscar, but he feuds a lot with Ray Ray Sr. and his wife.
  • Pet the Dog: He's the only one of the Parker family who treats Oscar nicely, showing off his new car because he thinks Oscar will enjoy the bells and whistles. While he does get testy with Oscar's relatives he never takes it out on Oscar.
  • Trrrilling Rrrs: "That's Rrruben. Rrroll the 'R'. LIKE YOU ROLL THOSE EYES!"

    Maureen and Dr. Vincent Parker
Trudy's parents and Penny's maternal grandparents. Vincent is a pretentious, social-climbing, television hating doctor with an incredibly insular view of Oscar and his kin. By direct contrast, both he and his wife Maureen are very loving grandparents to Penny.
  • Actually Pretty Funny: Vincent admits with Oscar that seeing Suga Mama clocking Maureen in the head was funny.
  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: On so very much seen in the ending of "Behind Family Lines".
  • The Bully: He enjoys belittling his in-laws and keeping Oscar under his thumb. He approves and even encourages his wife to do the same.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: While he's not truly evil, Vincent is a deeply unpleasant man in the eyes of Oscar’s relatives - while he belittles Oscar, he is genuinely Happily Married to Maureen and he is a Doting Grandparent to Penny and the twins. In "Behind Family Lines", Maureen becomes outraged with Boonetta when she blames Little Ray Ray for the theft of Rueben's truck.
  • Everyone Has Standards: They appear to invoke this with regards to the other Prouds, as while Penny seems to love them, it's implied that Oscar and Suga Mama do not and only tolerate them because they're family.
  • Doting Grandparent: They are fairly sweet to Penny and the twins.
  • Insistent Terminology: Oscar is forced to call them "Doctor and Mrs. Parker".
  • Jerkass: Mostly in the first half of "Behind Family Lines" when he is completely cold and abrasive towards Oscar. He also stopped at nothing to keep the Prouds from succeeding in the football game against his family.
  • Lack of Empathy: When it comes to Suga Mama. In "Behind Family Lines", Maureen is fully prepared to call her a crusty old woman, despite full knowledge that she is family.
  • Last-Name Basis: Vincent tends to refer to Oscar as "Proud" until the end of the episode when he calls him "son".
  • Nice to the Waiter: Maureen insults Suga Mama while mistaking her for a maid, setting off a feud between them.
  • Not So Above It All: He's understandably unimpressed when Oscar treats the family to dinner at a rather unique restaurant. (The place drops fish on the table for customers to eat by hand, no plates or silverware.) When the food does get there he still balks until he tries the food, at which point he gladly starts fighting with Suga Mama over it.
  • Obnoxious In-Laws: They are rude to Oscar even when he's a good host.
  • Talk to the Fist: When Maureen insults Suga Mama in front of her, Suga Mama retaliates by giving her an elbow blow. Maureen's response, however, occurs offscreen.
