The list of characters for The Fuzzy Princess webcomic. currently under construction.
Animals of St. Paws
The main protagonist of The Fuzzy Princess, Kat is the friendly, if headstrong and slightly childish, cat heir to the throne of St. Paws.
- Accessory-Wearing Cartoon Animal: Though she sometimes wears clothes whenever she wishes to integrate to human society without drawing undue attention, she's usually seen wearing only her jeweled necklace and a red gem embedded on her forehead.
- Action Girl: For an otherwise humor-themed comic, Kat is certainly the most action-oriented character in the cast and generally the one who does any fighting where necessary.
- Big Sister Instinct: With or without any involvement from Bloated Whale, Kat is extremely protective of Jackson and jumps into action if she has any reason to think he's in danger.
- Has a Type: Thinks dog guys are hot, especially the dog prince.
- Intergenerational Friendship: Her friendship with Jackson technically counts as this, as she's around 20 years old while Jackson is 10 years old.
- Inexplicably Tailless: Averted, She has a prosthetic tail (having lost her real one in an accident), which she frequently detaches and morphs into things.
- Interspecies Romance: So far, she's been attracted to a dog (the prince) and a rabbit (Lauren Ipsum).
- I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: In the "Katrina the Poetry Lover" arc, Kat learns that the dog prince she'd planned to propose to is already engaged. She makes a big show of being happy for him and agrees to attend his wedding, only to start crying the moment he leaves.
- Older Than They Look: Word of God confirms that she's around 19-20 years old, but she can pass for a kid Jackson's age with a disguise.
- One of the Kids: Kat seems to largely prefer to spend most of her time with Jackson over her other friends, which heavily implies she follows this trope.
- Relationship Upgrade: Even while she's attracted to the dog prince, she lets it slip that she thinks Lauren is "cute". She takes it hard when she learns the prince is already engaged, but then a chance meeting with Lauren leads to a close friendship — and, as confirmed in these pics posted at Charles Brubaker's DeviantArt and Fur Affinity accounts, something more.
One of Kat's attendants, Chiro is an uptight and neurotic St. Paws bat who prefers when Kat acts in ways befitting a princess, but also does what she can to make her happy.
- Cute Little Fangs: Charles Brubaker has redesigned her to always have one fang showing.
- A Day in the Limelight: The "Chiro and the Condor" arc centers around her struggle to figure out how to glide and the antics that ensue from her pursuit of that goal. The animated short "Oingo Bongo" also spotlights her getting a pair of bongos and trying (with Kuma's help) to win a poetry contest.
- Deadpan Snarker: Particularly whenever she has to put up with Kuma.
- Make Me Wanna Shout: She doesn't use it for combat, but she has a sonar scream that she used to help find the Dog Prince when he got captured.
- Straight Woman: She generally gets the role of observing and putting up with the more eccentric antics of the rest of the cast.
Kat's other attendant, Kuma is a laid-back and friendly bear. his hobbies include writing haiku and emptying Jordan's fridge.
- Beary Friendly: Kuma doesn't have a single mean bone in his body. He probably spat them all out.
- Big Eater: Jordan can attest to this considering how often he empties her fridge.
- Hidden Depths: In "Oingo Bongo", Kuma gives a highly detailed analysis on the craftsmanship and materials used to make a pair of bongos before he ate them.
- Laborious Laziness: Kat notes that it's rather impressive the effort Kuma puts into being "efficient" when he reveals that he taught himself to be simultaneously ambidextrous.
- The Pollyanna: He almost always sees the positive in everything, even in situations where he's obviously in peril.
- Stylistic Suck: His haiku is so bad that St. Paws forces criminals to read it as a Cool and Unusual Punishment, which has drastically lowered the crime rate.
Queen of St. Paws and mother to Princess Katrina. She's sassy (to her daughter's annoyance), proud, charming, and regal in her own right, yet never lost her taste for adventure even after settling down and marrying the King of St. Paws.
- Adaptational Early Appearance: In the webcomic, Felicia comes to Earth by herself to reunite her daughter after several story arcs. In the "Katrina The Fuzzy Princess" short, she (along with Chiro and Kuma) tags along with Kat when the latter embarks on a trip to Earth to establish diplomatic relations with the humans.
- Aliens of London: She's an anthro cat queen living in a parallel dimension populated with funny animals, and her appearance in the "Cat & Kat" short has her speaking in what sounds like a posh British accent.
- Good Parents: She sassiness and tendency to dote on her daughter may annoy her. But Kat knows her mom always acts with the best of intentions in mind and it's clear they both love each other dearly.
- Guile Hero: It's clear that Kat's own skills in diplomacy came from her, and we see Felicia use her own charms to solve problems more than once.
- Hartman Hips: Perhaps this strip can give us the answer.
- And this.
- Lady of Adventure: Both before and after marrying the King of St. Paws, Felicia always enjoys seeing new places and seeking new thrills.
- Platonic Co-Parenting: After joining the main cast and befriending Jordan, she starts having moments where she shares the role of parenting Jackson (Jordan's younger brother) with Jordan.
- Statuesque Stunner: She's considered very attractive both by fans and in-universe yet stands roughly twice as tall as most citizens of St. Paws and sometimes is seen standing at least a few inches taller than some human characters.
- Team Mom: She shares with role with Jordan after joining the main cast, to a point where she's seen gradually co-parenting Jackson as the comic goes on.
Lauren, an enthusiastic young rabbit, is the new assistant librarian at St. Paws' royal castle and an aspiring writer. She becomes one of Kat's closest friends.
- Breakout Character: After Fuzzy Princess ended, Lauren got her own comic.
- Early-Bird Cameo: Charles Brubaker posted Lauren pics at Deviant Art and Fur Affinity before she appeared in the strip.
- Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Her hair and fur are both blonde, and she's usually a very Nice Girl.
- Love Interest: As noted above, she becomes one for Kat after the princess' attempted relationship with the dog prince doesn't work out.
- Mundane Made Awesome: Her first appearance has her doing an Inner Monologue during her daily routine at the library about how great she is at her job.
- Punny Name: It's based on "Loren Ipsum", a phrase used as placeholder text in publishing and graphic design.
- Righteous Rabbit: She's a lovable rabbit and an ally of St. Paws' royal family.
- Shipper on Deck: The moment she learns that Kat wants a book of love poems, she volunteers to write one for the princess even before learning who she's interested in. Kat notes how "steamy" the poem is.
Humans
A 10 year old human boy and yo-yo enthusiast who mostly keeps to himself and lives with his older sister Jordan. His life changed when he encountered and befriended Kat. Jackson does what he can to keep Kat from drawing undue attention to herself while introducing her to everything Earth has to offer.
- Cowardly Lion: If he had his way, he'd never have to get involved when trouble rears its ugly head, but he will help his friends whenever he's needed and is quite good at it.
- Intergenerational Friendship: His friendship with Kat technically counts as this, as she's around 20 years old while Jackson is 10 years old.
- Killer Yoyo: He prefers to simply do tricks with his yo-yo (with unpredictable results), but when danger rears its ugly head, he weaponizes it with surprising effectiveness.
- Never Bare Headed: Jackson wears a pale green stocking cap almost all the time and really likes keeping it on. We find out in a later comic that aside from fashion, he also wears it to contain his hair, which is long enough to hide his eyes.
Jackson's older sister and guardian, Jordan works as a graphic designer and was surprised to find his brother brought a group of talking animals into their home, but does her best to be accommodating toward them, even if it's not always easy.
- Cool Big Sis: Jordan is very dedicated to taking care of her brother, who clearly looks up to her and is generally happy with his life under her care. Jordan even has moments of being a Cool Big Sis to Kat.
- Platonic Co-Parenting: After befriending Queen Felicia, Jordan seems to trust the cat queen enough to let her co-parent Jackson from time to time.
- Promotion to Parent: We don't know yet what happened to Jordan and Jackson's parents, but we do know they were living with their Uncle Sho and Aunt Suzuki before Jordan moved out and took Jackson with her. Interestingly, it's heavily implied Jordan willingly jumped at the chance to take over parenting Jackson.
- Money Fetish: Gladdie really loves money and eagerly takes every opportunity she can to get her hands on it, she's even not above swiping money that was already taken by a trio of crooks.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She's greedy and sometimes not above taking advantage of her friends, but is still very loyal and is quick to lend her aid when the chance arrives.
- Tomboyand Girly Girl: She's the tomboy to her sister Tara's Girly Girl.
- Annoying Younger Sibling: Whether by intentional brattiness or just her unbridled enthusiasm for anything weird, she often comes across as annoying to most of the cast.
- Princess Phase: She's clearly still in that phase, she even apparently wears her crown in bed.
- Tomboyand Girly Girl: Tara is the girly girl to Gladdie's tomboy.
Antagonists
- Berserk Button: He's very proud of his alias and does not take kindly to hearing his real name, heck, his first appearance has him chasing Jackson for saying it off-panel. For the record, We, the readers, still don't know what his real name is.
- The Brute: Bloated Whale rarely strategizes and generally prefers to use his brawn to get his way. If a more cerebral approach is required, he's fine with deferring to Krista.
- Villainous Friendship: Perhaps one of his few redeeming qualities is that he seems to trust Krista and regard him as friend, despite knowing the mouse sees him as pawn against a common foe.
- Villainous Underdog: A small anthro mouse may not seem like much of a threat and he does mostly lose at the end, but he's cunning and crafty spy who successfully starts his schemes with the upper hand on his foes.
- You Dirty Rat!: He's technically a mouse, but he's not one of the nice ones; he's very much a Jerkass, especially towards Kat.
