From left to right: Siha, Ivy, Yulissa.

    open/close all folders
    In general
  • Blonde, Brunette, Redhead: Yulissa is a blonde, Siha has dark purple hair and Ivy's hair is pink.
  • Classical Anti-Hero: With all their talents, the three are still flawed humans. Siha is saddled with guilt, anxieties and is sometimes harsher than she should. Yulissa struggles with self-identity, how to be herself in spite of pressure from others. Ivy, who's crippled with self-doubt, has to learn to grow tougher without losing sight of who she is.
  • Curtains Match the Window: All three girls have eye and hair colors close in shade.
  • Elemental Motifs: Water for Siha, Light for Yulissa, Darkness and Light for Ivy.
  • Freudian Trio:
    • The Superego: Siha — Reserved, sharp, snarky from time to time.
    • The Id: Yulissa — Bubbly, friendly, easily affected by other people's attitude.
    • The Ego: Ivy — Sweet, shy, often conflict-avoidant.
  • Friendless Background: No members of the trio really had friends before each other. Siha switched school regularly, Yulissa's talents isolated her from her peer, Ivy was constantly bullied for her poor background.
  • With a Friend and a Stranger: Siha and Yulissa have been friends since elementary school, while Ivy only joined them at the beginning of the competition.

    Siha Gu/Luna Ke

Siha Gu/Luna Ke

Click here to see her Luna Ke disguise

A cold and talented girl, participant of the survival show Supernova. Daughter of a disgraced singer, she joins the show in order to reveal the truth behind her mother's scandal, and to reunite with her childhood friend.

  • The Ace: She is a musical prodigy capable of composing songs before turning double digits, can play two instruments, has impressive vocal techniques as well as stage presence, and was one of the strongest contenders of Supernova.
  • Affectionate Gesture to the Head: Does this to Yulissa quite a few times.
  • Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: Siha has dark violet hair, a reserved personality, and her mysteriousness has attracted a rather big amount of fans.
  • Berserk Button: Simona is an extremely, extremely sensitive subject to Siha. If you talk badly about her deceased mother, well, prepare to face her wrath.
  • Blue Is Calm: As Luna Ke, she has blue hair, blue eyes and an even colder demeanor than her reserved true self.
  • Blue Means Smart One: She wears blue (as Luna Ke) and is more rational than Yulissa and Ivy.
  • Child Prodigy: How many gradeschoolers do you know that can write music? Granted, her mother provided quite a lot of help, but it's still an incredible feat for a child.
  • Deadpan Snarker: The fact that she can go toe-to-toe against Leo Long, the King of Snarks probably say it all. After warming up, she grows into more of a tease.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: At the beginning, Siha is quite cold and distant — probably due to the fact that her revenge goal and Secret Identity means she can't openly make friends (especially when Yulissa is already suspecting her). She warms up rather quickly to her new friends, but it still takes a while for her to process the emotional baggage. In the epilogue, she seems to have defrosted out completely, reverting back to the original mellow personality she had as a kid.
  • Distinguishing Mark: Two moles on her left hand. It's what solidifies Yulissa's suspicions about "Luna Ke's" real identity, though it's only mentioned once at the beginning.
  • Don't Think, Feel: A key lesson in her character arc.
  • Duality Motif: Her whole arc revolves around conciliation of her two selves, "Siha Gu" and "Luna Ke". Her "Mirror" performance and costume also reflect this duality.
  • Elemental Motifs: Water.
  • Expository Hairstyle Change: She got two: one from her natural hair to the blue "Luna Ke" wig and back, and another after Supernova ended, when she grows her hair out long and wavy, similar to her mother's hair.
  • Fairy Tale Wedding Dress: Siha wears a beautiful white Pimped-Out Dress in her wedding.
  • Good Cannot Comprehend Evil: Siha confronts Cynthia at the end because she cannot understand why the woman would harm her mother like that. Cynthia's reply doesn't make it any clearer, and the girl says that she should've expected nonsenses from Cynthia, accepting that she would never be able to understand those reasonings.
  • Graceful Loser: No matter who she loses to, Siha remains composed. Be it Yulissa, her long lost best friend or Jade, the hot-headed rival, she always accepts the result without complain. She only lost her cool at Meagan, who almost costed her the ticket by stealing her song.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partner: With Yulissa. Though they don't work in the same group like planned, they still share all important moments of their lives together. The epilogue chapter ends with the two walking to a bright future together while holding hands.
  • I Never Got Any Letters: Yulissa has sent dozens of letters for Siha, but Simona intercepted them all and stored them in a box. Siha only discovers this after her mother's death, and got rightfully upset over it.
  • Meet Cute: A platonic variation. Yulissa was walking on the school's corridor when she heard Siha's melodic voice inside a classroom. They locked eyes for a moment, then Yulissa turned bright red and ran away in embarrassment. There's even cherry blossom petals flying around
  • New Transfer Student: Siha was a transfer student to Yulissa's class when they first met. She plays this role quite frequently (albeit off-screen), thanks to the multiple moves she and her mother have had throughout the years.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: In chapter 303, Ivan points out she resembles him more than Simona, her mother. Siha, unamused by this, quickly shoots the subject down.
  • Pre-Meeting: Siha is formerly introduced as a New Transfer Student shortly after her Meet Cute with Yulissa.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: When Cynthia explains the reason why she harmed Simona, Siha coldly shut it down, saying she doesn't believe a word Cynthia has said. The latter drops the act, confirms that those Freudian Excuse are indeed fake.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: Siha seems like an icy, intimidating girl at first, but she's actually rather nice to others after warming up a bit to them.
  • The Tease: Contrary to her cold appearance, Siha is quite a mischievous person.
  • Teen Genius: A musical variant. As a former Child Prodigy, Siha is proficient in songwriting, composing, can play guitar and piano, has nearly unmatched level of vocal technique, not to mention the ability to move the audience with her songs. There is a reason she's the show's dark horse, after all.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: During the reunion dinner with her father Ivan, she shuts down his offer to make her a star, saying his "love" is fake, and he's only offering it to take advantage of her talent.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The calm, mature Blue Oni to Yulissa's cheerful Red Oni.
  • Wise Beyond Their Years: Siha is pretty perceptive compared to her peer. Even as a seven-year-old child, she's already more mature and even-tempered than an average grade-schooler.

    Yulissa Jin

Yulissa Jin

Siha's childhood friend and an aspiring idol. Contrary to the detached Siha, she is a cheerful, friendly person. She joins Supernova half to realize her dream, half to find her long lost friend.

  • The Ace: She was (and is) the top student in her music class, a stellar up-and-coming idol, and the champion of Supernova's 10th season.
  • Affectionate Gesture to the Head: She received this from Siha a handful of times.
  • Crowd Pleaser: One of her main motivation as an idol is to bring joy to her audience.
  • Did You Think I Can't Feel?: Yulissa's response at the critical, entitled anti-fans who constantly harassed her and her fellow competitors.
Yulissa: A friend once comforted me by saying that durians won't change its taste just because you hate it. However, I am not a durian. I have a heart, words can hurt me, but I will also work harder and become better because of it.
  • Elemental Motifs: Light.
  • Ms. Exposition: Briefly played this role at the beginning to introduce the two main male characters: Brian and Leo.
  • Girlish Pigtails: Her childhood hairstyle.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Yulissa is easily one of, if not the, nicest girls in the manhua, and her locks are golden.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partner: With Siha. Though their dream to debut in the same group didn't go like planned, they still share all important moments of their lives together. The epilogue chapter ends with the two of them walking down a bright white path together while holding hands.
  • Married to the Job: Yulissa is so devoted to her idol career that she refuses to enter a romantic relationship with Rudy, her Childhood Friend, even though the feelings are mutual. She still doesn't change her mind after ten years into the future.
  • Meet Cute: A platonic variation. Yulissa was pacing the school's corridor when she heard a melodic voice inside a classroom. Thinking someone played a CD, she looked through the window only to find Siha playing piano instead. The girl caught her staring and waved, and Yulissa, her face flushed bright red, ran away in embarrassment.
  • Nice Girl: She is one of the nicest person in the story. Her kindness is remarked as naive by many, but it doesn't stop her from being kind to her rivals.
  • Perpetual Smiler: Downplayed. She smiles a lot more than her two friends, but it doesn't mean she can't frown or cry.
  • The Pollyanna: As an idol (and sister of one), unfair treatment from others is no stranger to her. The constant nitpick and harassment is so harsh it breaks her for a moment, but even that kind of hardship couldn't manage to keep her down. When asked to define herself through a performance, she proudly puts her optimism on stage, much to the audience's surprise.
  • Pre-Meeting: After encountering a girl with a gorgeous voice in the piano room, Yulissa quickly found out said girl, named Siha, is the New Transfer Student to her class.
  • Prone to Tears: You'd expect Ivy to be the crybaby of the bunch, but it's actually the sunny Yulissa. She's the quickest to move to tears in the trio, and she cries the largest amount, too. It leads to some rather funny moments, like how she's way more upset than her eliminated friends at their elimination.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The bright, enthusiastic Red Oni to Siha's demure Blue Oni.
  • Shipper on Deck: She's rather enthusiastic about her friends' love life, even creating opportunities for them to be close to their crushes.
  • Teen Genius: A musical variant, but a bit different from Siha above. Yulissa is well-trained as an idol, has excellent stamina, and great improvisation ability. She's also very versatile in both dancing and singing, as seen in how she changes from pop to jazz, folk and rap during her performances. She isn't Supernova's 10th champion for nothing.

     Ivy Ye

Ivy Ye

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ivy_ye_9.png

A poor girl who joins Supernova to escape from her horrible home life. She has a withdrawn personality due to the constant abuse she faced. She becomes friends with Siha and Yulissa after being defended by them.

  • Abusive Parents: Despite having very little screentime, Ivy's father is definitely the most abusive parent of the manhua. This man is so horribly violent that he's willing to hit his daughter at her own school for buying textbooks. His actions made Ivy's life a living hell, both at school and at home. The desire to escape from him and have a better life with her mother was what prompted her to join Supernova in the first place.
  • Break the Cutie: Ivy has gone through a lot for a sixteen-years-old girl. First abused by her father, humiliated, insulted, assaulted by other students, then got betrayed by who she thought was a good friend to her. Subverted at the end, as it didn't break her completely, just left her jaded enough to defend herself against the less well-meaning people.
  • The Cutie: With her pink hair, Tareme Eyes, soft personality and an angelic voice, Ivy certainly qualifies as this trope.
  • Duality Motif: Her arc focuses on the duality of her desires, to be loved by others and to remain true to herself. Most of her performances display contrasting images, such as the dark, sorrowful "The Last Blossom" and "Spoiled Innocence" against the pure, innocent "Ave Maria" and "Moonlight".
    • In "Me", she wears two different costumes: an elaborate Rococo gown with many accessories, and a plain white dress with no makeup or decorations. It symbolizes the mask she puts on in front of others, and the true wounded self she's hidden away.
  • Elemental Motifs: Darkness and Light. See the above Duality Motif.
  • Expository Hairstyle Change: In the epilogue, she's shown to have longer hair.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: Downplayed. Rose-haired Ivy is sweet and romantic, but also timid and quiet. Her romanticism doesn't mean she's deluded, either; in her core, she's always been a realist.
  • Shrinking Violet: Ivy is a meek, lonely girl with a frail body. She's barely able to talk to the crowd when the story started (even when said crowd only consists of five judges). Thankfully, it got better.
  • Slasher Smile: Wear one on her face as Method Acting. Thank god it doesn't become her default smile.
