    The Gods of The Genesis
The three gods that ended up starting the rebirth of the world and the creation of Asgard.

In general

  • Adaptation Species Change: What kind of Jotun Odin and Hoenir had ancestry from is never specified but they were not frost giants as that species was wiped out. Loki is a mountain giant here as opposed to a fire giant.

Odin/Vakr

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chara01_01.png
Click here  to see him as Vakr.

The young and ambitious leader of the Aesir gods. He is plagued by the prophecy of Ragnarök and is working to avoid it. A very dedicated god with strong determination, however he is weak to having emotional outbursts. He was originally born as a weak frost giant, but received great magical power after his trip to Ginnungagap, the resting place of Ymir.

  • Asskicking Leads to Leadership: After the death of Ymir he gained unsually strong magic potential, making him a the strongest god among them. It probably helps that he trained thrity years afterwards.
  • Eye Scream: Rips his own eyeball out in echange for a prophecy by the norns.
  • Marked Change: When battling a thurs in Glitnir he taps into his true strength for the first time and his markings appear.
  • Meaningful Name: Vakr means "the one who is awakened". His mother named him this because she saw a vision of him awakening in the new world he ended up creating.
  • Rape as Backstory: Was raped by his giant father as a replacement after his mother died.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: After he saw the vision of Asgard's destruction, he became more manic with fortifying but remained mostly stable and can debate with his brothers.
  • Take Me Instead: Offered himself to be used as a sex toy by his father instead of his brother Vili.

Hoenir/Vili

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chara01_02.png
Click here  to see him as Vili
The younger brother of Odin and older brother of Loki. He is very talanted in designing and constructing tools and buildings and helps with constructing both private and public buildings in Asgard. Like his born brother, he was a frost giant born with weak magic but got stronger after his trip to Ginnungagap.

Loki/Vé

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chara01_03.png
Clickhere  to see him as Vé
The younger adoptive brother of Odin and Hoenir. Originally known as Vé from a mountain thurs village, he was kicked out due to his "revolting body" and kidnapped by Bergelmir to the frost thurs village. He was saved by Vakr and Vili who took him in as family. He is a popular figure among the Aesir due to his charming personality and good looks.
  • Attempted Rape: Is nearly raped by Borr after arriving in the Frost Giant village. Thankfully Vakr and Mímir intervene.
  • Ambiguous Gender: Played with: He indentifies as male but due to his hermaphroditism, he attracts men and women alike.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: When he first met his future brothers he assumed they were trying to take him to their father but to his surprise they told him they wanted to be his friend. He had only ever been treated with scorn before that and took an instant liking to them.
  • Big Brother Worship: Looks up to his brothers, but Odin in particular.
  • Distinguishing Mark: His markings are unique. He is stated to be a mountain thurs but all other mountain thursar have yellow or brown markings.
  • Distressed Dude: Is kidnapped by Bergelmir first time he's seen outside his village to be used as a sex toy by Borr. Thankfully Vakr saves him.
  • Everybody Wants the Hermaphrodite: Is liked by men and women alike in Asgard. This is also something that has put him in danger when he was younger when adults would desire his child body.
  • Happily Adopted: Was taken in by Mímir, Odin, and Hoenir and is clearly happy with his life with them.
  • I Have No Son!: Was a subject of this. While crying he manages to tell Vakr and Vili that his grandmother called him disgusting and had him tossed out of the village.
  • In Touch With Hisfeminine Side: Acts very flamboyant when it benefits him, but has some masculine tendencies.
  • Immodest Orgasm: When flashing back to a memory of his assault he runs off to be alone but he hears his siblings are worried and are looking for him. He becomes so touched that he climaxes out of pleasure, much to his embarassment.
  • Meaningful Rename: When introducing himself to Vakr and Vili stops short of saying his real name Lodurr and calls himself Vé instead to match his foster brothers.
  • Raven Hair, Ivory Skin: Has this and is on top of that one of the most desired men in Asgard.
  • Unbalanced By Rival's Kid: Implied: In the original drafts, Loki was on great terms with Hödr, but in the actual series he is annoyed by him. What changed between the two versions is that Hödr's mother became Sigyn, Loki's mythological wife.

    Thursar
The first beings who lived in the world. They come in many subspecies including earth, frost, sea, and mountain.

In general

  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Each type of thurs has diffrent colors on their markings.
    • Frost: Gray or light blue.
    • Earth: Red or pink
    • Sea: Dark blue
    • Mountain: Yellow, possibly brown and black.
  • Our Giants Are Bigger: Played with, the first thurs Ymir is mountain sized but all the other thursar's heights can vary from being normal looking to as tall as a building.
  • Power Glows: When using magic their eyes glow and when tapping into berserker strength, their marks do so aswell.

Mímir

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chara01_04.png
The older brother of Bestla and the uncle of Odin, Hoenir, and Loki. He has the ability of "precognition" which allows him to get a glimpse of what the future might entail. He is Odin's most trusted advisor.
  • Cool Old Guy: Is technically only an uncle as he never had kids of his own, but still counts due to his high age and the fact that he killed Borr, who had been unnaturally amplifying his mana.
  • Honest Advisor: Gives Odin his wisdom even when the news he gives him isn't what he wants to hear.
  • An Ice Person: A frost thurs like the rest of his village.
  • Nephewism: Cared for his newphews after their mother died when ever they would ask for help. After the flood he watched over them and his new foster nephew when they had no one else.
  • Older and Wiser: Sort of, in his youth he helped the frost thursar settle down and was a bit careless, allowing Borr to take over the lead.
  • Seers: Not on the same level as Bestla or the Norns though. He is only capable of "future precognition", which is essentially seeing the outline of the future and not exactly what the future holds.
  • We Used To Befriends: Became friends with Borr when the latter first came to their village.

Borr

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chara00_06.png
The leader of the tribe of frost thursar as well father of Vakr and Vili and the step father of Bergelmir. With his strength he strikes fear in his tribe, keeping himself as ruler.
  • Abusive Parents: Raped his son Vakr regularly and threatened to do the same to Vili if Vakr kept fighting him.
  • Accidental Murder: According to the first volume extra material, he killed Besta by accident due to his accumulated mana.
  • Asskicking Leads to Leadership: His stregnth is what helps him keep the village under control. What gave him the position of leader in the first place was slaughtering the first leader Thrudgelmir.
  • Bad Ass Boast: Claims he will turn Mímir's grave into a warning to others. Is then promptly killed by him.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: With Mímir. That is, Mímir ripped him to shreads after he found out that Borr had been raping Vakr.
  • Excessive Mourning: The death of Bestla, who was his original motiation drove him to such insanity that he began to assert his authority much more brutally and rape Vakr as replacement.
  • An Ice Person: A frost thurs.
  • Large and in Charge: Is bigger than any frost giant and is the leader of the village.
  • Murder the Hypotenuse: Killed Thrudgelmir so that he could marry his wife Bestla.
  • Never My Fault: Blames Mimir for Bestlas passing.
  • Parental Incest: His sexual abuse of his oldest son.

Bergelmir

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chara00_05.png
The son of Thrudgelmir and Bestla and Vakr and Vili's older half brother. Due to their weak magic, he loves to pick on them.
  • Big Brother Bully: Relentlessly picks on Vakr and Vili for being born weak.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Surprisingly, yes. He kidnapps Vé to give to Borr so he stops raping his younger brothers.
  • Blue Blood: According to the offical website family tree, he is the only direct descendant of Ymir as their grandson.
  • Dramatically Missing the Point: He kidnapped Vé so that Borr could rape him. He happily explains to a horrified Vakr that he did it so Borr would stop abusing him and Vili, and since Vé is an outsider, no one will care about him so therefor everyone will be satisfied.
  • Dropped a Bridge on Him: Played with, the last we see of him he saves a female frost giant from drowning before he's suddenly hit with another wave. However he is known for being the only frost thurs who survived the flood, along with his partner so it is safe to say that he survived.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Kind of, he tries to protect Vakr from Borr's beating when the younger brother tries to save Vé. Even though he has no problem beating Vakr himself.
  • Fantastic Racism: Kidnapped a diffrent kind of thurs because he hoped no one would care about outsiders to try and rescue them from his step-dad.
  • Forced to Watch: Had to see his father Thrudgelmir be slaughtered by Borr.
  • Freudian Excuse: The reason he puts such importance on magical stregnth is because Borr killed his father Thrudgelmir infront of him.
  • An Ice Person: A frost thurs. One of the last ones alive most likely.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: The step-son of the village leader, and he instantly tries to help his people find safety when the flood hits.

Bestla

The late mother of Vakr, Vili and Bergelmir. She is a seer and predicted the future of her second born son.

  • Missing Mom: Died before the series began.
  • Seers: One of the few true Volva's, seers who can accurately predict the future.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Her son Vili looks alot like her.

Norns

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chara01_08.png
From right to left: Urd, Verdandi, and Skuld.
Three thursar with the ability to predict the future. They live by the roots of Yggdrasil in Urdabrunn. Odin came to them for a prophecy in exchange for an eye.
  • Barbie Doll Anatomy
  • Facial Markings: They seem to be the only thursar to only have markings on their face and not their entire body.
  • Seers: They are all Volva's, basically oracles with accurate future prediction.
  • No Biological Sex: They only wear see-through veils on them and seem to have no visible genitalia.
  • The Weird Sisters: Like in the original mythology. They live by themselves and predict the future for anyone willing to pay.

Thrudgelmir

The father of Bergelmir and first husband of Bestla.
  • All There in the Manual: He doesn't appear in the series, but is marked on the website's family tree and is mentioned in volume 1 supplementary material.
  • Blue Blood: He was the ruler before Borr because he is the child of Ymir, the ancestor to all giants.

    Aesir
The people of the kingdom Odin and his brothers founded. They are all thursar who have been rejected by their own villages.

In general

  • Adaptation Species Change: In this series, Aesir is a citizenship a thurs can have, rather than a completly different species with different origins from jotnar. Then again, some jotnar could become honorary aesir.
  • Dangerous Forbidden Technique: Berserk, the technique of tapping into one's greatest potential and increasing one's own strength and magic is forbidden in Asgard because it can put weaker thursar at risk if it is used too much.
  • Family of Choice: Aesir isn't a race exactly but rather a tribe of all diffrent kinds of thursar who aren't welcome within their own tribes.
  • Island of Misfit Everything: The thursar who become aesir do so because Asgard is a more open minded and welcomes people who are either to weak or are seen as a threat by their own kin.

Hödr

Odin's first born son, mothered by the sea thurs Sigyn. He is an exceptionally skilled warrior with a great talent for seidr. He was titled as a God of War and so far he has never been defeated.
  • Big Damn Heroes: He becomes this on multiple occations.
    • Once when a group of Aesir were attacked by thursar he managed to single handedly kill the attackers.
    • Another example includes skewering a thurs that tried to kill his father.
  • Cute Bruiser: Is known as the "God of Death" and "God of War". Comically enough when othert aesir point this out he's shown blushing and holding his hand innoceltly behind his back.
  • Hiding the Handicap: By chapter 8 when he's 18, he's lost some sensation in his right hand due to misuse of Berserkr, he's trying to hide it from his father though.
  • Related in the Adaptation: In the original mythos he is the son of Odin and Frigg aswell as the twin of Baldur.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Looks almost identical to his father when he was in his age.
  • Super-Speed: He is so fast that whenever he's fighting, everything might aswell stand still from his perspectiv.
  • Tyke Bomb: Is undefeatable on the battlefield by the time he's 13 years old. Odin has raised him to become this for the sake of Asgard. He started his path by filling in for Jörd as she has to take maternity leave.

Odin's second son, mothered by the mountain thurs Rindr. He admires his older half brother Hödr greatly and hopes to catch up to him someday.
  • Big Brother Worship: Really admires Hödr and wants to go with him on dangerous missions. However he isn't strong enough to take such risks. He even goes to far as to try and sneak aboard a ship Odin and Hödr were about to take until he was found out.
  • Related in the Adaptation: In the mythos he is the son of the giantess Hrodr, not Rindr.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Looks like his mom without pigtails or markings.

  • Making a Splash: She's a sea thurs.

  • Ship Tease: Has this somewhat with Loki, as she enjoys making him flustered. Should come as no surprise to those who know about norse mythology and know that she will end up marrying him.
  • True Blue Femininity: Has blue hair and a blue dress and is the most lady-like of Odin's wives.
  • Women Are Delicate: The only one of Odin's wives who isn't ready to throw down. As her markings aren't visible she is somewhat weaker in magic than the average thurs.
