Danesville Citizens

    Karen
Karen Reis AKA Artemis

A former US army sergeant who was stationed at the Bullion Depository at Fort Knox during the Event.

  • Ambiguously Brown: It's noted that even to Roxy's keen eye Karen could be any of a dozen different non-white races.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Roxy amputated her arm to save her from a Manticore Venom injection, and eventually she loses her legs as well.
  • Disabled Badass: After losing her arm.
  • Gayngst: She's suffered a lot of stress from being gay in the military, even since the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell.
  • Human Popsicle: When her and her subordinates were trapped by the Manticore, they were all frozen to wait for somebody to rescue them. That somebody ended up being Roxy, 10 years later.
  • Improbable Aiming Skills: Karen's one ability. She can hit any target with any weapon at any range the weapon could conceivably function at.
  • Love at First Sight: Karen was very obviously infatuated the first time she laid eyes on Roxy. Eventually they get married.

    David
David Furst AKA Knight

Roxy's brother, a mafioso before the Event but an immensely skilled speedster now.

    Romana
Romana Scomparsa AKA Witch

Former mafia boss and current president of Danesville. Eventually the Queen of New Jerusalem.

  • Amazonian Beauty: She's 6 foot 6, with washboard abs.
  • Bait-and-Switch Tyrant: After weathering the apocalypse, Romana managed to transition her criminal control to seize legitimate power as the President of a post-apocalyptic city-state. Despite having been a publically known mob boss, she is well liked her by citizens and seems to have embraced the idea of Danesville as a republic.
  • Large and in Charge: A 6 foot 6 President certainly qualifies.
  • Mafia Princess: Romana was the heir of the Danesville Mob while David was dating her. It's not said how much she knew about her parent's business growing up, but she eventually inherited the title of Capofamiglia.
  • Promotion to Parent: Romana has admitted that she thinks of Roxy as her first daughter, having raised her like one.
  • Shiksa Goddess: She's a blonde-haired, blue-eyed Italian Catholic, married to the Jewish David.

    Ashley
Ashley Scomparsa AKA Phoenix

Romana and Dave's eldest daughter, who was four when the Event happened and doesn't remember anything before it.

    Aradia
Aradia Johanna Christa Scomparsa

Dave and Romana's youngest daughter, born 9 months after the Event.

  • Doomed by Canon: According to Roxy in New Light, Aradia is going to die young, though what age specifically is unknown.
  • Extra-ore-dinary: She has the ability to almost effortlessly manipulate "noble" metals, including Adamantium.
  • Identical Granddaughter: It's noted that she looks exactly like her grandmother Johanna.
  • Jacob and Esau: She takes after her father's side of the family in looks and is closer to him than her mother.
  • Light 'em Up: Her other power is to manipulate light, but she doesn't have much control over it.
  • Power Glows: She can glow when she's sleeping or not otherwise trying to do so.
  • Supernatural Gold Eyes: Aradia's eyes are a shiny gold color.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: The Girly Girl to Ashley's Tomboy.

  • The Omniscient: She can see everything that has happened or can happen.
  • Omniscient Morality Licence: She and Roxy argue endlessly about her right to "guide"/control everybody in the name of defeating the Demons and achieving world peace.
  • Prophet Eyes: They're just blank white with cataracts.
  • Those Two Guys: She's seen at her sister Victoria's side more often than not.

    Luna
Luna Lily Lumos Landis

Theresa's daughter, and Aradia's best friend.

    Victoria
Victoria Arachne

Theresa's foster sister and closest friend.

  • Orphanage of Love: She runs an orphanage out of her home which has rescued all of the children in Danesville whose parents died during the apocalypse. There are at least 50 children that all live there as one big happy family. Vicky's own daughter, Aranea, and niece, Luna, live happily as just two more of the children in the orphanage.
  • Parental Substitute: As a part of running the orphanage she acts as a mother to all the children there.
  • Those Two Guys: She's seen at Theresa's side more often than not.

  • Missing Mom: She died of lung cancer when Roxy was seven.
  • Posthumous Character: She's been dead 10 years by the start of the first chapter.
  • Struggling Single Mother: Johanna had to raise her children alone, and couldn't afford to live anywhere more expensive than a trailer park.
  • Teen Pregnancy: Johanna was 18 when she had David.

    Jake
Jayadev "Jake" Newark AKA Fenris

Roxy's best friend for as long as she can remember, and current boyfriend.

  • Future Badass: The version of hm that Rey meets is missing an eye in both human and wolf form, and is noticeably more intelligent.
  • Our Werewolves Are Different: He can transform at will, and can control where along the transformation between man and wolf he ends up. He is immune to all damage except damage inflicted by silver weapons.
  • Saved by Canon: He survives at least until Rey first comes to New Jerusalem, though a little worse for wear but wiser.

Roxy's best friend for as long as she can remember.

Other New Jerusalemites

    Bright
Michael Bright AKA Makkapitew

Roxy's supervisor at Yggdrasil.

  • Expy: He's based off of the SCP Foundation's Jack Bright, and it's implied that his powerset is similar
  • Shout-Out: He outright tells Karen that his codename is a reference, specifically to the Big Bad of Until Dawn.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: He is very lenient with Roxy's shenanigans, because he's one of Theresa's cohorts and is guiding Roxy to where she's supposed to be.

    Clara
Clara Scomparsa

The Grim Reaper. An ancestor of Romana who died in Venice, Italy in 1479

    Muninn
Muninn

Prince of the Corvans. An intelligent crow living in New Jerusalem.

    Trip
Trip Walker AKA Padparadscha Planeswalker III

Rey's mother, on the run from New Jerusalem, now living in the Astraverse. For her tropes, go to that worlds character page.

Demons

    In General
Demons

The Denizens of New Jerusalem's attached Hell, released upon that world on September 3rd, 2018.

  • Always Chaotic Evil: With a singular exception, Demons are all irredeemable bastards bent on destroying and defiling the works of God.
  • Demonic Possession: They are each a powerful soul who has taken over a human body, though there is a spectrum to the nature of the possession. They can be in absolute control, having destroyed the human soul whose body they hijacked, and at the other end of the scale are the Demons who have completely synchronized with their human half and become one.
  • The Legions of Hell
  • Our Demons Are Different: They rebelled against Paradise and were punished by being locked in Hell away from the light of God. The Deceiver responded to this by releasing the rest of the Demons upon humanity to destroy and enslave them.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: The single common physical trait all Demons share is having red eyes in their human form, but they are capable of concealing their eye color when they want to hide their nature.

    Xena
Xena Noble/Trisha Lustheart/Andrew McMann AKA The Salamander

A Demon possessing the shared body of three humans. Together they are an agent of Yggdrasil operating in Danesville.

  • Ascended Demon: Xena is the single Demon on Earth who is working on the side of good against the Deceiver and the rest of the Demons, even if it is mostly unwillingly.
  • Cannibalism Superpower: Xena's power was to absorb people's minds and abilities. After absorbing two people, they were able to lock her out of using it.
  • Fiery Redhead: Andy
  • Humanity Ensues: Xena was supposed to be a great warrior for The Legions of Hell but her first two victims locked her down and forced her to work for Humanity, and have even started working her towards her Demon soul achieving redemption.
  • Nominal Hero: Xena is only an Anti-Hero because Trisha and Andy (and Roxy, externally) are giving her no choice but to put her destructive habits to good use.
  • Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette: Trisha
  • Perky Goth: Trisha wears the darkest clothes but is the most cheerful of the three about their situation.
  • Playing with Fire: Andy was a pyrokinetic.
  • Restraining Bolt: Trisha and Andy have put a lock on Xena's ability to absorb others.
  • Secret Identity: Xena tries very hard to keep the fact that she has more than one identity in her head a secret. Roxy blackmailing her with the threat of being revealed is one of the major things keeping her loyal to Roxy and/or the organisation.
  • Shapeshifter Identity Crisis: Whichever persona is currently dominant tends to be the one presenting their form, though there are exceptions when they are trying to hide their situation.
  • Technically Naked Shapeshifter: As Trisha points out at one point, their clothes are all created and absorbed during the process of shifting from form to form. The Ifrit, their combat form, forgoes even the appearance of clothes altogether.
  • Voices Are Mental: Subverted. It seems to be the case at first but there are times when one of the identities uses another's voice to speak while maintaining their cover.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifter: Trisha was a shapeshifter.

    Mercury
Mercury AKA Flash Strider

A Demon speedster who attempted to murder Roxy after she first returned to Danesville.

    The Manticore
The Manticore

A Demon who had been locked in the Bullion Depository for the 10 years since the Event.

  • From a Single Cell: It was capable of recovering from being blown in half by a grenade.
  • No Name Given: His human form's name is never mentioned.
  • Our Manticores Are Spinier: It's big, it's red, it eats people and its scorpion-like tail has a venom that disrupts healing and shapshifting. It also appears to have near human intelligence.

    Orion
Orion

A Demon sent to interrupt Roxy's raid of the Bullion Depository

    Legion
Legion

A Demon Roxy first meets in Vegas.
