    The Player Character

The Player Character

Yes, the player character, aka you. The one who goes around to solve all the islands' problems, saves Poptropica on a regular basis, and travels around in a blimp. Can be a boy or a girl.

  • Action Girl: If you play as a girl.
  • Plucky Girl: If you play as a girl.
  • Little Girls Kick Shins: If you play as a girl in Mocktropica Island during this scene:
Player: You're responsible for those annoying ads?! I should kick you in the shins!
The Ad Sales Manager: Please don't. I get that a lot. My shins are very bruised.
  • Little Miss Badass: If you play as a girl. And your character is a kid.
  • Little Miss Snarker: If you play as a girl. Your character is a snarker.
  • Girly Bruiser: If you play as a girl who is wearing a dress but carrying a sword.
  • Cute Bruiser: Your character might be a kid and look adorable, but he or she is known to kick ass.
  • Badass Adorable: Your character might be a kid, look cute, and have an innocent wide eyed gaze, but he or she is known to kick ass.
  • Kicking Ass in All Her Finery: If you play as a girl and she is dressed in fancy clothes.
  • Action Fashionista: If you play as a girl and she wears fashionable clothes while kicking ass.
  • Damsel in Distress: On some islands, if you play as a girl.
  • Damsel out of Distress: If you play as a girl, if she's in trouble, she can save herself.
  • Pirate Girl: If you play as a girl, on Skullduggery Island.
  • Girlish Pigtails: If you play as a girl who wears pigtails.
  • Flowers of Femininity: If you play as a girl who wears a flower in her hair.
  • The Fashionista: If you play as a girl who wears stylish clothes.
  • Southern Belle: If you play as a girl who wears this costume from the store.
  • Long Hair Is Feminine: If you play as a girl who has long hair.
  • Pink Means Feminine: If you play as a girl who is dressed in pink.
  • Graceful Ladies Like Purple: If you play as a girl who is wearing purple.
  • True Blue Femininity: If you play as a girl who is wearing blue
  • Mouthy Kid: Your character can be snarky but reasonable.
  • Kid Detective: Your character solves mysteries on islands.
  • Earthy Barefoot Character: Your character is barefoot in nature.
  • All Girls Like Ponies: On Wild West Island, one of the first things you do is buy yourself a horse.
  • Amazing Technicolor Population: Talking to the balloon man in Poptropica Towers allows you to change your skin color.
  • Badass Normal: Since Poptropica is a Fantasy Kitchen Sink with super-powered people, Greek gods, vampires, medieval royalty, zombies, etc., and the player character is more or less a normal Poptropican, you're this as well.
  • Badass Cape: Super Power Island, if your character wears a cape as part of their superhero costume.
  • Superheroes Wear Capes: Super Power Island, if your character wears a cape as part of their super suit.
  • Superheroes Wear Tights: Super Power Island, if your character wears tights as part of their super suit.
  • Not Wearing Tights: Super Power Island if your character decides not to wear a super suit.
  • Chronic Hero Syndrome: Seems to have this, considering that the player character always goes out of his/her way to solve the problem of each island s/he goes on.
  • Cool Airship: Your mode of transportation is the iconic yellow Poptropica blimp.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Your character can definitely count as one.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: You take on Zeus himself. Twice. And beat him both times.
  • The Drifter: The player character never stays on an exact island (except for Home Island) after saving the day.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: After defeating Betty Jetty, Ned Noodlehead receives all the credit for delivering the final blow, and the Warden mentions you in his congratulation speech as an afterthought.
  • Empowered Badass Normal: A variation. The player character can gain powers on certain islands (such as Super Power Island), but said powers are always limited to only those islands.
  • Fingerless Hands: Like all Poptropica characters, your hands are simple spheres with no fingers.note
  • Featureless Protagonist: Your character has basically no personality, aside from a heroic tendency and a few snarky remarks.
  • Flight: In Early Poptropica, you find a jetpack in the airplane graveyard, and in Super Power Island, the retired superhero gives you the power of true flight in order to help you take down Betty Jetty.
  • Free-Range Children: The fact that your character is a kid is hardly ever brought up, and your parents are equally never brought up.
  • Heroic Mime: Averted. You can talk to other players (albeit through pre-recorded questions/responses like "Can you juggle?" and "Do you want to play head-to-head Paint War?"). You also talk to NPCs, and to yourself in some cases (e.g. "I don't think Snoopy has much to say").
  • The Hero: Your character always comes to save the day.
  • Kid Hero: Your character is a kid that always comes to save the day.
  • Kleptomaniac Hero: You swipe everything you find, from a crowbar to a pixellated pig.
  • Nice Guy: This is the most personality your character can have, judging from dialogue to NPCs and actions in general.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: On Counterfeit Island, the reason the Balloon Boy ends up floating around in the sky with a balloon is because you gave the balloon to him in the first place.
  • Noodle People: Your character's limbs are slim sticks with balls for hands and wedges for feet.
  • Parental Abandonment: Implied, his/her parents are nowhere to be seen. The only mention the player character ever makes of them is on Night Watch Island, if you click on the chocolate-flavored soap sud bottles in the MacGuffin's store:
Player Character: I wish my mom would've washed my mouth out with these.
  • Purely Aesthetic Gender: There are literally no differences whatsoever between the player character being a boy or a girl.
  • Unwitting Pawn: Ends up being manipulated by island villains on more than one occasion; Spy Island, Counterfeit Island, Mythology Island, and Super Villain Island being prime examples.
  • Snakes. Why Did It Have To Be Snakes?: Your character says this when he or she has to beat the snake challenge in Mythology Island.
