The Eds

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_eds_peach_creek.jpeg
Still (mostly) the same old Eds.
The titular trio. Eds have grown since we last saw them as kids; they're teenagers in their final year of high school and must deal with the struggles of growing up, the future, and their personal lives.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: The trio gets hit with this trope, given the maturity of the work.
    • Ed's tired of his family's favoritism toward Sarah, culminating in him running away from home.
    • Double D has OCD and is depressed.
    • Eddy fell back into old habits and acts like a jerk again, but it's secretly a front to hide the fact he has trouble figuring out who he is.
  • Growing Up Sucks: The Eds have to deal with the problems of being teenagers in their last year of high school and the personal struggles in their lives.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: The Eds are still friends after all these years.
  • Home Base: The Retro Van. The trio still use it as their hangout, and aside from lazing around inside, they're trying to fix it up and get the van working again.
  • Theme Naming: They all have the same name.

    Ed

Edwin "Ed" Horace Wendle

Voiced by: Sean Goodrich
The lovable dimwit of the group, now coming to terms with the extent of his family's favoritism towards his little sister.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: His parents' favoritism toward Sarah has caused Ed to drift away from his family; there was also the subtle implication they weren't treating him well when they grounded him and trapped him in the basement by taking the stairs away. It all culminates in Ed packing a bag and tearfully running away from home.
  • Adaptational Intelligence: While still easily the least intelligent of the Eds, he is much smarter than he was in the original show, being able to help Sarah with her homework and finally seeing how unfair his family is towards him.
  • Ascended Fridge Horror: There was a subtle implication that Ed's parents weren't nice to him, with many viewers and fans believing he was in an abusive household. "Three Squares And An Ed" shows Ed was grounded for some reason, and as punishment, his parents took everything in his room and the stairs, trapping him in the basement with only a box for him to sit and stew in. The viewer gets to see this lovely scene again in the first episode during May's dream, with Ed staring at the wall where the stairs leading out of the basement used to be and breaking down in tears. Aside from his parents favoring Sarah over him, this is likely another reason Ed chose to run away from home.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: After spending years in Sarah's shadow, he's caught on to his parents' favoritism towards Sarah and is increasingly hurt and bitter about it.
  • The Dutiful Son: Deconstructed, his parents' imposed the role onto him and expect him to protect and take care of Sarah, despite his clear sadness on the matter.
  • The Runaway: His parents' favoritism towards Sarah and the subtle implication they were abusing him takes its toll on Ed, resulting in him packing a bag and runing away from home in "The Rug Pull".

    Edd

Eddward "Edd" Marynn Walker / Double D

Voiced by: JoshBot
Also known as Double D, the intelligent, soft-spoken member of the group who is now dealing with the lack of his parents' presence in his life.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: While his neuroticism is gone, Double D was diagnosed with OCD and mild depression, which he takes Prozac for; Double D also makes a strict set of boundaries for himself, which Eddy and Marie tease him over.
  • Deadpan Snarker: He's still very snarky and sardonic. While the Eds are working on the Retro Van, Double D sarcastically wonders Eddy if he's going to help them and remarks that he prefers to pollute his lungs with cigarettes.
  • Drugs Are Bad: Unlike Ed and Eddy, who are getting high during Minisode 2, Double D doesn't join them.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He refuses to get high with Eddy and Ed in Minisode 2 and calls Eddy out for smoking three cigarettes, saying it's way too many.
  • In-Series Nickname: Called Double D by everyone in the Cul-De-Sac, due to having the same name as Ed but with an additional D.
  • Minor Living Alone: With his parents being out of the house a lot, Double D had to become independent to take care of himself while they're away.
  • Nerdy Nasalness: While it's not as profound as when he was younger, Double D's voice is a bit nasally after all these years.
  • The Smart Guy: Double D remains the brains of the trio after all these years. While working on the Retro Van in the junkyard, Double D uses a soldering iron to repair some wires.
  • Smoking Is Not Cool: He calls out Eddy for smoking three cigarettes and sarcastically says he prefers contaminating his lungs rather than doing something useful (i.e., helping him and Ed fix the Retro Van).

    Eddy

Edgar "Eddy" Skipper McGee

Voiced by: LoopyGG
The bold, loud, snarky leader of the trio who has fallen back into old habits since the movie but secretly struggles to come to terms with who he is.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Eddy, to an extent, seems to have mellowed out. He still calls people names and insults them, but he has learned some lessons since Big Picture Show; he quit scamming people, got himself a job at a fast food joint, wants to hang out with his friends, and seemed genuinely hurt that Double D wouldn't let him over to his house.
  • Cigarette of Anxiety: He smokes three cigarettes to help him prepare for the night shift at his job while Double D and Ed work on the van in the junkyard.
  • Deadpan Snarker: The years haven't dulled Eddy's wit, and he has a snarky comment for everyone and everything.
Eddy: (watches Ed eat a gravy-drenched sandwich) Jesus, Lumpy... You wanna have some sandwich with your gravy?
  • Distressed Dude: Double D and Ed are pulling Eddy up after he falls off a cliff of garbage in the intro.
  • Freudian Excuse: Eddy's narcissism was the result of the abusive relationship with his brother, something that his parents continually overlooked.
  • Happiness in Minimum Wage: Zig-zagged. Despite needing to smoke three cigarettes to deal with the stress of working the night shift, given how happy and proud he sounded when he said he got to serve customers the previous night, Eddy seems to enjoy his job.
  • The Leader: He's the self-proclaimed leader of their trio.
  • The Nicknamer: Eddy still refers to everyone by the nicknames he gives them; Lumpy (Ed), Sockhead (Double D), Loudmouth (Sarah), and Shovel-chin (Kevin), to name a few.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Despite finally gaining acceptance from the rest of the Peach Creek Kids at the movie's end, Eddy briefly returns to his old habits, causing a rift between him and them. He did eventually repair some of the damage with his new friends, but the scars remain, and Kevin and Jimmy don't want anything to do with him.

The Kids

For their original show tropes go here.
    General

    Jimmy

Jimmy

Voiced by: Noah Keawakane
The sweet, outgoing, effeminate, and friendly best friend of Sarah, Jimmy considers himself a cut above the rest. But underneath that kind persona lies a darker and conniving side to Jimmy's character.
  • Ambiguously Gay: He's very effeminate and is deeply into fashion. His bio states that he's also confused about his sexuality, claiming that while he loves Sarah, he doesn't feel any sexual attraction to her.
  • Arch-Enemy: He still dislikes all three of the Eds, including Double D, and often goes out of his way to inconvenience them. He even risks losing his faux personality to do so.
  • Baby Of The Bunch: He's still the youngest out of the kids at 15-years-old with Sarah.
  • Effeminate Voice: Has a notably softer voice compared to the rest of the male cast.
  • In-Series Nickname: May still calls him "Dutch" during her Dream Sequence.
  • In Touch with His Feminine Side: In the pilot he plans to spend the weekend baking and gouache painting.
  • Irrational Hatred: Jimmy still hates the Eds despite the events of the movie and the fact they've mostly grown up. He considers all three a singular entity, deserving of his loathing. Jimmy might be justified in hating Eddy, as he went back to old habits and did something to ruin his relationship with him, but he has no right to despise Ed or Double D.

    Sarah

Sarah

Voiced by: Samantha Rose

    Jonny 2x4

Jonny 2x4

Voiced by: Connor Cheely
Having recently returned to Peach Creek, Jonny is now a social outcast. He now works at the same fast food joint as Eddy, and became adept at reading people's feelings.
  • All of the Other Reindeer: Since his return he has become the town loner. Even Plank is gone, and he doesn't like talking about what happened to him.
  • Put on a Bus: Jonny and his family went on a trip before the start of the series, leaving their old home vacant, which is why no one in town has seen him; according to Eddy, they've been gone for a few months.
  • Noodle Incident: Why he and Plank split is unclear, but it must've been bad as Jonny gets uncomfortable when asked about it. All we know is Plank ended up in the junkyard, overlooking the Eds' Retro Van.
  • The Quiet One: Years of being ostracized by the kids of the Cul-de-sac have turned the once kind if a little quirky Jonny into a quiet, nervous, and timid teenager that keeps to himself. Even while at work, Eddy points out that Jonny hardly speaks.
Eddy: He's a hell of a lot quieter now though.
Double D: Yes, well, being a social outcast, and ostracized by everybody would do that to you.

    Plank

Plank

Voiced by: None
Jonny's (former) Companion Cube. For reasons unknown, he and Jonny have split, and now he resides in the junkyard.
  • Companion Cube: Plank was this to Jonny, and he treated Plank as if he was an actual person.
  • A Dog Named "Dog": He's a plank of wood named "Plank".
  • Noodle Incident: The reason for Plank and Jonny splitting up is unclear, but it must've been bad as Jonny gets uncomfortable when asked about it.
  • Perpetual Smiler: Since his face is painted on, he never changes his expression, and his smile is still there after all these years.
  • Those Two Guys: With Jonny. At least initially before they split.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Again, with Jonny. The duo broke up for unclear reasons, with Plank ending up in the junkyard, now embedded in the garbage, while overlooking the Eds' Retro Van.

    Rolf

Rolf

Voiced by: Marlon Dunn
The son of a shepherd. Rolf was held back a year due to language issues and is in his last year of high school. Despite his English improving dramatically, he often falls back into old habits and waffles. Puberty hits Rolf the most out of all the characters; as a result, he has a burly beard and is more buffed up.
  • Adaptational Curves: As a kid, he had a skinnier build but in Peach Creek, Rolf has developed a huge upper body, and is incredibly burly.
  • Manly Facial Hair: He's grown a balbo beard and is very proud of it.

    Nazz

Nazz

Voiced by: Vivian Reed

    Kevin

Kevin

Voiced by: Ari Zysczk
Still the athletic jock at Peach Creek, Kevin's passions have changed over the years; he lost his desire to play football long ago and continues only to impress his dad. His real passion now lies in bikes and racing.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Kevin's relationship with his father has become complicated over the years. He pressures his son into continuing his football career despite Kevin not being into it anymore and likes motorbikes and racing. Kevin tried to tell his dad about quitting, but he got shot down; now, he only does the sport impress him, nothing more.

The Kanker Sisters

For their original show tropes go here.
    General

The Kanker Sisters

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_kanker_sisters_peach_creek.jpeg
Still (mostly) the same old sisters.
The other trio that lives at the local trailer park in Peach Creek. While not as crazy as they were as kids, they're no longer the main antagonists in the series. Like everyone else, they have to deal with their own personal problems and the uncertainty that is the future.

    Lee Kanker

Lee Kanker

Voiced by: Megan Youmans
The eldest child of the Kanker Sisters. Blunt and headstrong, Lee stepped up take over as the matriarch of the Kanker Sisters.
  • Cigarette of Anxiety: Lee took up smoking as a coping mechanism to deal with the stress in her life, the other being booze.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: After Marie eats her last cheesecake slice, Lee forces her to get up from bed, get dressed, and go into town to buy another cheesecake with her own money before she goes to work. When Marie doesn't want to do that, Lee tosses her across their trailer.
  • The Dutiful Daughter: After the mother left, Lee had to step up to take care of her siblings and is having trouble keeping them together.
  • Empty Nest: A lot of Lee's stresses seem to stem from the fact that her siblings are growing up and she's afraid of losing them. She and Marie often fall into loud, screaming, and near-violent arguments with Marie, who has become fiercely independent.
  • Freudian Excuse: Lee firmly believes family is everything and doesn't want to lose her sisters, clinging to them dearly. It leads to headed arguments with Marie, who's becoming independent, while May's stuck in the middle.
  • Nervous Wreck: While it's not outright said, Lee is actually under a lot of stress trying to keep her sisters together, despite Marie wanting to find her own path and go out on her own.
  • Promotion to Parent: After their mom left, Lee took up the matriarchal responsibilities of the Kanker trailer and worked two jobs to pay the bills.
  • Sex for Solace: Heavily implied to be the case with Eddy, they drunkenly hook up during parties, but never discuss the events afterwards. In public, they act disdainfully to one another. We get a glimpse of this in "Fridge". While Lee is yelling at Marie for eating her cheesecake, a shirtless Eddy, wearing only his boxers, sneaks out though the roof of their trailer.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: In "Fridge", she furiously calls Marie a "piece of shit" for eating her cheesecake, a "lying sack of shit" for denying it, and when Marie is too lazy to get up to buy her a new one, she yells at her to "GET THE FUCK UP" before throwing her across the trailer.

    Marie Kanker

Marie Kanker

Voiced by: Megan Youmans
The middle child of the Kanker Sisters. Snappy, quick to anger, and incredibly wry, she has a part-time apprenticeship as an auto mechanic at Grey's Garage, near the road entrance to the junkyard. Marie still has the hots for Double D after all these years, who still isn't interested in her.
  • Abhorrent Admirer: Marie still has a massive crush on Double D after all these years. Instead of forcefully kissing him this time, she enjoys flirting and making him uncomfortable. In "The Rug Pull", they run into each other near the doorway to AP art class, and she playfully sticks her tongue out at him.
  • All Women Are Lustful: She still has a crush on Double D, who doesn't reciprocate it despite looking very easy on the eyes now.
  • Bad Liar: In "Fridge", she tries to deny eating Lee's last cheesecake slice (which she did), but Lee absolutely knows she's lying.
  • Hidden Depths: Her appearance in "The Rug Pull" has her heading into an AP Art class, showing that she has artistic skills.

    May Kanker

May Kanker

Voiced by: Courtney Goodrich
The youngest child of the Kanker Sisters. While everyone is talking about the future, college, and other life goals, May's overwhelmed with everything and is still unsure of her place in life. Recently, she's been getting strange dreams that are eerily coming true...
  • Adaptational Intelligence: A far cry from when she was younger, May is above average in all her subjects in school, with chemistry as her best one; ironically, it's not her passion despite being good at it.
  • Dreaming of Things to Come: In "The Rug Pull", May has a dream where he's talking to Jimmy at the playground. He tells her three things: "A trio to ensure success, but one is now leaving". Second, "someone who grew around a corrupting force but transferred it to a Curly-O with a line". And third, "when drawn, your story continues". For now, he tells May that she has to take heed of the world around her.
    • We get the answer to the first warning in Episode 1: Ed running away from home.
