Lions

Former Sisters Steppe Pride members

    Nothing
Voiced by: MoMo O'Brien (adult), Kaitlyn Brock (young)
Nothing is a disabled African lioness and the main protagonist of My Pride.

  • Badass Adorable: As a cub she took on an adult male lion and clawed his eye out.
  • Bullying the Disabled: Nothing's mother and half-sisters treat her like dirt for having a limp.
  • Cool Big Sis: Feather and Fire see Nothing as this, especially because she clawed out Feather's dad's eye. While his cousin and not his sister, Feather also likes her especially when she gives him more prey to him than to her.
  • Dream-Crushing Handicap: Nothing really wanted to be a hunter, but her crippled leg made her unable to do so.
  • Good Scars, Evil Scars: Nothing has a scar on her left eye after fighting with Quickmane, and she's a kind lion even if she is passive and diffident.
  • Handicapped Badass: She manages to hunt and fight even with a limp.
  • Heroic BSoD: Has one when Fire attacks Barkmane, reliving the moment Quickmane attacked Starmane.
  • Reincarnation: She’s reincarnated from Kyoga, the chosen leader of the moon kingdom.
  • Pinball Protagonist: Nothing spends most of the story reacting to certain scenarios but does not take action through her own decisions that much.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Chews Fire out when he "kills" Feather.

    Feather
Voiced by: Raven Amato
Feather is Nothing's cousin, as well as one of the main protagonists of My Pride.
  • Clashing Cousins: After spending his cubhood looking up to and liking Fire, all that took a sharp turn when Fire bumrushed and nearly killed Feather when the former wanted to take over Barkmane's pride.
  • Faking the Dead: Appears to have died in episode 10, but The Stinger shows him running through the Prideless Stretch calling for Nothing.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Feather tells a group of No-Manes that his father is blind in one eye. This leads No-Mane Proud to kill Quickmane and take over his pride, killing Feather's sisters as well.
  • Taken A Level In Badass: He grows into a master strategist for hunting, and helps Fire bring down Barkmane, no worse for wear.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: In the context of lion stereotypes at least. He grows up to be a very skilled hunter, which is not at all valued in male lions, as hunting is the females' job.
  • Your Tradition Is Not Mine: Utterly despises the Pride Law and has no intention of ever following it, due to losing his father and siblings because of it, but not being Conditioned to Accept Horror by growing up in a pride like Nothing and Fire were.

    Fire
Voiced by: Caleb Calderon (adult), Sarah Moscato (young)
Fire is Nothing's brother and one of the main characters.
  • Bait the Dog: In the first several episodes he is shown to be rather kind and one of the few characters who is nice to Nothing. Come episode 10 he attempts to kill Feather and cruelly tells Nothing that she was a weak curse.
  • Clashing Cousins: Fire was pretty nice and accommodating to Feather when he was a cub, but the two seemed to become more and more strained as the two got older. Not helping matters is Fire willingly going through with attacking Feather with the intent of killing him when he hoped to take over a pride.
  • Dirty Coward: Kills his younger cousin just to secure a place as a Mane. He admits to Nothing that he isn't brave like her.
  • Ear Notch: Has one on his left ear in Episode 9.
  • Good Scars, Evil Scars: He has a scar from Quickmane's attack, and a few scars on his face.
  • Kick the Dog: Several in episode 10. He attempts to kill Feather after the new pride lionesses tell him to, he attacks Nothing and tells her that she was a useless curse, and it is revealed while he was on the Stretch he killed his friend Tangle due to misunderstanding that over whether he was going to share his prey.
  • Like Father, Like Son: Inherits Starmane's fur color and kind nature. Although it turns out he is more like his step-father than initially shown.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Has this reaction after defeating Nothing in combat, and then when Ghost shows him that Tangle was planning on sharing the meal he caught meaning he killed Tangle for no reason.
  • Nice Guy: He was an overall friendly guy who stands out in a cast of mostly jerks. Too bad it doesn't last.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Being a no-mane in the stretch and losing Tangled has made him much crueler when we see him again. He kills a Mane and then attempts to kill Feather shortly after that in desperation for a pride. It's revealed he also killed Tangled since he thought Tangled was leaving him to starve.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Tries to kill Feather despite Feather saving his life against Barkmane.
  • Wouldn't Hurt a Child: When he picks a Mane to fight, he makes sure the pride doesn't have any children so he wouldn't have to kill cubs. This doesn't seem to apply to the adolescent Feather however.

    Powerstrike
Voiced by: Helen O'Connor
Nothing's mother and the Hunt Chief of the Sisters Steppe.
  • Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: Well bad lionesses anyways. Despite being an abusive parent, Powerstrike cares deeply for her mother and is heartbroken at her death.
  • Hate Sink: She's an abusive parent who thinks her daughter is worthless because she's disabled, tells her daughter that all she can see is her lost potential.
  • Hypocrite: Powerstrike refuses to let Nothing call her "mother" since she's no longer a cub, but refers to Sharptongue as mother. Later, she is referred to as "mother" by Nothing, but doesn't bat an eye.
  • Jerkass Realization: Realizes what an an ass she was to Nothing in episode 7.

    Hover/Longrun
Voiced by: Morgan Ganahl
A prideless lion who became Nothing's mate until episode 5.
  • Butch Lesbian: She has elements of this, both in appearance and personality- her mane resembles a punk hairstyle and she has pierced ears. She's also much more athletic and muscular than Nothing, and overall comes off as the more masculine of the two.
  • Cats Are Snarkers: Mostly just her, but she is good at it. Her being solitary makes her similar to non-lion felines.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Was clearly jealous that Nothing prioritized spending time with her brother over her.
  • Kick the Dog: She is upset that Nothing missed her naming ceremony, refuses to listen to Nothing's explanation, and tells her that if her brother dies it's her own fault.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Contemplates what she had done to Nothing in episode 7. Then goes off with Powerstrike and Farleap to find her.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Hover/Longrun was just a snarker when introduced, but after joining the Pride she has become colder, and rather cruelly snaps at Nothing for missing her naming ceremony.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Chews out Nothing for missing her naming ceremony.

    Farleap
Voiced by: Maisie Meehan
Nothing's half-sister.
  • All Love Is Unrequited: Seems to have a crush on Hover, but Hover still loves Nothing.
  • Alpha Bitch: Starts out with this vibe. It's pretty clear that she gets a kick out of belittling Nothing for her disability and the fact she failed her Huntress assessments, but she seems to be remorseful for her behavior after Nothing vanishes.
  • Platonic Declaration of Love: When Silentstalk begs for her to stay in Proudmane's pride, Farleap tells her she loves her, but she wants to go find Nothing with Hover/Longrun and Powerstrike.

Sisters Steppe Pride

    In General
The Sisters Steppe is the main pride featured in My Pride.
  • Conditioned to Accept Horror: As with Pride Law, no one appears to be bothered in the slightest when a No-Mane comes along, exiling or killing the current Mane in charge and any cubs he fathered in order to take over leadership of the pride.
  • Klingon Promotion: Whoever drives out or kills the current Mane becomes the new Mane of the pride.
  • Proud Warrior Race: A group of hunters who greatly value strength.

Huntresses

    Sharptongue
Voiced by: Shayla Kirkham
Sharptongue was Nothing's grandmother and the former Hunt Chief of the Sisters Steppe. She was calm and loved to tell stories about the Three Sisters and historical events.

    Waterhunter
Feather's mother, former mate of Quickmane, and current mate of Proudmane
  • Flat Character: Given that she doesn't speak at all, we know very little about her other than she is Powerstrike's sister and the mother of Feather.
  • Living Prop: She is pretty much in the background of every scene she appears in and does not bring much attention to herself.
  • The Voiceless: She does not speak once in the first season. This is not an intentional character trait; rather, every moment in which she had lines ended up being cut.

    Silentstalk
Voiced by: Izzy Sach
Nothing's half-sister and Farleap's sister.
  • Beta Bitch: Seemed to follow Farleap's lead while browbeating Nothing.
  • The Fundamentalist: Implied to have been manipulated into believing this mindset after becoming one of Proudmane's mates, insisting that "huntresses belong to their Mane" when Farleap tries to persuade her to join the search party to look for Nothing on the Stretch.

Manes

    Quickmane
Voiced by: Anthony Castillo
The vicious, aggressive Mane of the Sisters Steppe after he killed Starmane. He is the father of Farleap, Silentstalk, and Feather.
  • Asshole Victim: It's hard to feel bad for Quickmane after he's killed by Proudmane.
  • Eye Scream: Nothing claws out Quickmane's eye in the first episode.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Quickmane cares deeply for his own children even if he wants nothing more than Starmane's children dead.
    • He's also shown to be comforting Powerstrike towards the end of episode 3 after Sharptongue's death, clearly saddened by her distress over the loss.
  • Karmic Death: He was killed shortly after he attacked Nothing once again.
  • Pet the Dog: Despite same-sex relationships being against Pride Law, he knew about Nothing and Longrun's relationship and didn't do anything about it.
  • Straw Man Has A Point: He was right to be angry with Nothing for leaving his infant daughters unguarded and taking Feather outside of the Sisters Steppe. Unbeknownst to him, it was because of this that Proud saw an opportunity to take over the pride.
  • Would Hurt a Child: He murdered Spark.

    Proudmane (spoilers!)
Voiced by: Chris O'Bray

  • Consummate Liar: He tells the Sisters Steppe pride that he killed Nothing and Feather, but doesn't have the bodies to prove it.
  • The Fundamentalist: He's very invested in Pride Law, unlike most characters, and bemoans Sisters Steppe Pride as being "full of heretics" when he learns that Powestrike and Quickmane silently tolerated Nothing and Hover's relationship.
  • Largeandin Charge: He's huge, to an undoubtedly intimidating degree.
  • Nothing Personal: Proudmane tells this to Nothing after he kills Quickmane.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: Reprimands Hover for being in a relationship with Nothing, as lionesses dating is against Pride Law.
  • Straw Man Has A Point: While planning on killing Nothing was unnecessary (as he could simply exile her), from lion standards he was right to remove her from the pride. In an environment where food is scarce and dry season gets worse each year post Sunce's fury, no sensible lion would want another mouth to feed who cannot do anything other than watch the cubs, and even that, Proud had already seen how irresponsible she was with Feather as Nothing not only took him outside of his pride, but did nothing while Feather told him Quickmane's weakness.
  • The Stoic: Normally has a serious, emotionless expression unless provoked.
  • Would Hurt a Child: He murders Feather's sisters.

    Starmane
Voiced by: Sage Hyden
Starmane is the former mane of the Sisters Steppe. He is the father of Nothing, Fire and Spark.
  • Accident, Not Murder: His backstory reveals that he was going to exile Embermane instead of killing him, but Embermane accidentally hit his head on a rock and died.
  • Good Parents: He lets Nothing (who was nameless), Fire, and Spark climb all over him and enjoys their company, while also being firm about what is fake and what is reality.
  • Sacrificial Lamb: He is killed off quickly in the first episode to show how Manes take over a pride.

Cubs

    Spark
Voiced by: Archer Casey
Spark was the brother of Nothing and Fire.

    Feather's Sisters
Voiced by: Moonkitti (Sister 1), PetPyves (Sister 2)
Feather's sisters who are the same age as him.
  • Fish Eyes: Sister 1 has a wall-eyed look.
  • Killed Offscreen: They are not seen again after Proudmane takes over Quickmane’s pride. Considering what male lions do to cubs after taking over prides, they are most definitely dead.
  • No Name Given: Lionesses are not given names until adulthood. They are just known as "Sister 1" and "Sister 2".
  • Only Sane Man: They both seemed to be more grounded than Feather, stating that he could've died when Nothing took him to meet Fire and his band of bachelor No-Mane friends.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: They get a couple seconds of screentime before being killed off offscreen.

Other Lions

    Ghost
Voiced by: Matt McBee
A mysterious leucistic south african lion that appears in Nothing's dreams.
  • Albinos Are Freaks: A leucistic lion that's mysterious.
  • Dissonant Serenity: When Fire begs him to stop tormenting him by channelling Tangle's Madness Mantra, he immediately complies with a cheerful "Okay!"
  • Many Spirits Inside of One: Possibly why when asked they say "we are Ghost" and avoids using singular terms in favor of being a Third-Person Person.
  • Meaningful Name: In addition to working well with their pale coat and mysterious nature, they can speak on the behalf of dead lions, such as letting Tangle explain to Fire he really did intend to share his kill so there was no need for Fire to kill him.
  • Nice Guy: Very cheerful when talking to others, even when he's been particularly unnerving, non-aggressive by nature despite being a lone No-mane, and comforts Nothing when she has doubts about herself.
  • Prophet Eyes: Gets a glowing pair when actively speaking for the dead, not unlike what Asra's depicted with.
  • Willing Channeler: Seemingly can act as one for the spirits of dead lions, as they channel Tangle when confronting Fire to unbalance him, and can cheerfully cut it off by request once the "message" is received.

    Rain/Cansu
Voiced by: Cassidy Stachow
A Prideless Lioness who Nothing runs into in episode 6.
  • God in Human Form: Is the Goddess Cansu
  • Good Scars, Evil Scars: Has a scar across one of her eyes in Episode 7.
  • Kick the Dog: Tells Nothing that she will only help her if she abandons Feather to die. Although considering she is actually Cansu, this may well have been a Secret Test of Character.
  • Unexplained Accent: While most characters in the show have mid-Atlantic accents, some leaning toward entirely American or entirely English, Rain stands out for having a thick Southern drawl.

    Tangle
Voiced by: Malcolm Derikx
Fire’s friend who is part of the bachelor group before dismemberment.
  • Killed Off for Real: By Fire
  • Madness Mantra: "I was going to share it!", as conveyed through Ghost to his murderer.
  • Nice Guy: One of the very few characters in the series who isn't an all-out jerk or has malicious ulterior motives.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Kills some prey he planned to share with Fire. Unfortunately Fire thought he was going to keep it to himself, and killed him.

    Barkmane
Voiced by: Phillip Sacramento
An old Mane whose Pride Fire wants to take over.
  • Brave Scot: He is a tough Mane with a Scottish accent who puts in everything he’s got to fight off his attackers. Unfortunately, he manages to get killed off thanks to his old age.
  • Unexplained Accent: A Scottish one.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Killed in the episode he debuted in.

    Moonstrike
Voiced by: Zee Andrews
The Hunt Chief of Barkmane's Pride
  • Everyone Has Standards: Is disturbed after seeing Fire attack Nothing, and is troubled that Nothing would even challenge Fire to a duel.
  • Kick the Dog: Demands Fire kill Feather or they won't let him and Nothing in the Pride, forcing them to go back into the Stretch.

The last Leaders of the Kingdoms

    Kyoga
Voiced by: Hillary Taylor
The last leader of the Moon Kingdom before it fell. At a young age, she was betrothed to Lite to unite the Sun and Moon kingdoms in an alliance.
  • A Million Is a Statistic: What gets her to curse Lite is not the hordes of deaths caused by the war he started, but killing her lover Karabi (who started the fight).
  • Incompatible Orientation: One of the reasons she couldn't love Lite the same way.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: While it is understandable why she'd leave Lite, her refusing to tell him in person let him to believe she was kidnapped by Karabi and starting a war. Not to mention her cursing him enraged Sunce who is causing a massive drought.
  • Sympathetic Adulterer: Was cheating on Lite with Karabi but was presented in folklore as being truly in love with Lite and not Karabi.

    Lite
Voiced by: Phillip Sacramento
The last leader of the Sun Kingdom before it fell, and the creator of the pride system.
  • Cosmic Plaything: He was cursed by Kyoga to be routinely reincarnated, living a life of suffering and then being murdered by her incarantion.
  • Entitled to Have You: Believes Kyoga should be with him.
  • Light Is Not Good: His name is Lite and he is the leader of the Sun Kingdom but he has quite the temper and started a war over a misunderstanding.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: While killing Karabi was unnecessary, he was correct in that she almost killed him first.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: Created Pride Law which among many things punishes romance between lionesses by death.
  • Written by the Winners: Told a story about how he was a hero, demonizing Karabi.

    Karabi
Voiced by: Emily Goeman
The last leader of the Storm Kingdom before it fell, and Kyoga's lover.
  • A Deadly Affair: She and many members of her kingdom end up dead due to her affair with Kyoga.
  • Historical Villain Upgrade: In the legends she is portrayed as an evil villain who kidnapped Kyoga to deliberately destroy peace between the kingdoms. In actuality, Kyoga and her were in love.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Her eloping with Kyoga led to Lite waging a war that killed many of her subjects.

The Three Goddesses

    Asra
The goddess of the moon, mercy, and death.
  • Glowing Eyes: Unlike her sisters, Asra has glowing, pupiless eyes.
  • The Grim Reaper: Takes the souls of the deceased to the stars. However, It is revealed in episode 8 that Asra is missing after the three kingdoms collapsed, meaning that all spirits are stuck on Earth until Asra comes back.

    Cansu
Voiced by: Cassidy Stachow
The goddess of rain, wisdom and travels.

    Sunce
The goddess of the sun, wrath, and life.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Burning the entire Emerald valley out of fury with Asra interfering with mortal lives definitely counts. She is still angry a thousand seasons later.
  • Light Is Not Good: Is the Goddess of wrath and is responsible for the current drought and famines.
  • Playing with Fire: As the goddess of the sun, she has control over fire.
