Main Characters

Kingdom Hearts Characters

    Sora

The legendary Keyblade Wielder who saved countless worlds from the threat of the Heartless, his efforts to stop Xehanort: Seeker of Darkness, led to his apparent demise while rescuing his friends. In truth, he revived in the world of the wonderful creatures known as Pokémon, leading him to defend this new world from the Heartless and try to find a way home.

For tropes pertaining to Sora from canon, see this page.

  • Adaptational Deviation: In canon, Sora was transported to the world of Verum Rex from the video game in the Toy Story world as punishment for abusing the power of waking. He instead ends up in the Pokémon world, and winds up teaming up with Ash Ketchum in the Orre Region.
  • Alien Non-Interference Clause: The World Order still forbids him from discussing that he's from another world, but the Heartless' presence force him to reveal the truth.
  • Aura Vision: Sora is able to detect Shadow Pokémon using light.
  • Calling Your Attacks: He still does this by habit, but he has to get used to the fact that he's ordering Pokémon instead of casting his own spells.
  • Crossover Power Acquisition: With a little help from Ash's Corphish, he obtains a Rufflet as his Pokémon partner.
  • Damn You, Muscle Memory!: In-Universe, he's too used to calling out his own spells and has to remember that his Rufflet only knows Pokémon Moves.
  • Delayed Reaction: He's a little too late to realize that Bonnie's discussion about Ash and Serena had shifted to him and Kairi.
  • Elemental Rock-Paper-Scissors: Discussed. He's not sure how exactly this works, and expresses frustrations at figuring it out.
  • Everyone Can See It: He's able to pick up that Serena has a major crush on Ash.
  • Exact Words: When being questioned by Brock about how he got here, Sora says he's not sure. Brock assumes he has amnesia, which Sora goes along with to avoid breaking the World Order until circumstances force him to do just that.
  • Global Currency: His munny somehow got converted to Poké.
  • Immediate Sequel: From his perspective, his adventures take place just after he defeated Xehanort and faded due to abusing the Power of Waking.
  • Limit Break: He's able to develop one with Ash and Pikachu, similar to his previous partnerships with Donald and Goofy.
  • Oh, My Gods!: He uses the term "light" in this manner.
  • Outside-Context Problem: Because Sora comes from another world, he has no clue what Pokémon even are.
  • She Is Not My Girlfriend: Surprisingly, he doesn't consider Kairi his girlfriend yet, despite Kingdom Hearts III having them share a Paopu Fruit and basically make it official anyway.
  • Shipper on Deck: He supports the idea of Ash and Serena getting together, although Ash is a little too oblivious to notice.
  • Starter Mon: His Rufflet, which he obtains thanks to Ash's Corphish.
  • Sweat Drop: He has this reaction to Zook upon first meeting him.
  • What If?: What If Sora's abuse of the power of waking sent him to the Pokémon world?
  • Year Outside, Hour Inside: His time spent in Orre is roughly a week, but equates to four months back in Twilight Town

    Riku

One of Sora's oldest childhood friends, it was the boy's unwavering courage to get through that allowed Riku to be spared from darkness and brought back to the light. In his continued efforts to fight for good, Riku has journeyed to Orre to find his old friend.

For tropes pertaining to Riku from canon, see this page.

    Kairi

One of Sora's oldest childhood friends (and possibly more), she has come to Orre in the hopes that she may be able to find Sora.

For tropes pertaining to Kairi from canon, see this page.

    Donald Duck and Goofy
Sora's longtime traveling companions, and loyal followers of King Mickey Mouse, the two stood side-by-side with their friends in order to stop Xehanort: Seeker of Darkness.

For tropes pertaining to Donald and Goofy from canon, see this page.

  • Demoted to Extra: Justified. Yen Sid tells them it's better they don't go to the Pokémon World because they'll draw too much attention, or even be mistaken for some kind of new Pokémon.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: Defied. Yen Sid doesn't want them going to Orre out of concern that they'll warrant far too much attention if they do.

    Jiminy Cricket

The conscious of Pinnochio and Sora's official chronicler, who's been there to document his journey since the beginning.

For tropes pertaining to Jiminy from canon, see this page.

  • Species Surname: His last name is Cricket, as is appropriate for a cricket.
  • Tagalong Chronicler: He acts as this to Sora, just like before, and later does the same for Kairi and Riku. Because of him, he's able to explain Sora's backstory to Ash's group.

Pokémon Characters

    Ash Ketchum

The main protagonist from Pokémon: The Series and the champion of the Alola Region, he has traveled to Orre to liberate Shadow Pokémon.

For tropes pertaining to Ash from canon, see this page.

  • Adaptational Badass: Unlike in canon, Ash begins to fully explore the use of his Aura abilities.
  • Adaptational Deviation: The events of Pokémon Journeys: The Series never occurred with this Ash.
  • Adaptational Wimp: A very Downplayed example. Because the fic chooses to skip over the events of Pokémon Journeys: The Series, he never obtains the title of World Coronation Series Monarch, alias the strongest trainer in the world, but he's still a very skilled trainer nonetheless.
  • Age Lift: He's 18 instead of eternally 10.
  • Famed In-Story: He's managed to become known as the Champion of Alola thanks to his win in the Manalo Conference all those years ago.
  • Hustler: He manages to snag a Shadow Metang by pretending to be a clueless rookie wagering his Pokémon, only to bust Charizard out and wallop Nover.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: Played With. Eagun agrees to train him in Aura because Ash admits he feels he doesn't want to feel helpless against the Heartless, though he does admit he's a bit envious at Sora and Serena's growing abilities.
  • Limit Break: He, Sora, and Pikachu develop a powerful attack called "Ten Million Volt Thunderstorm."
  • Not Allowed to Grow Up: Defied. Unlike in canon, which infamously kept the character as eternally ten despite a great deal of time passing, he's 18 years old by the time the story begins.
  • Oblivious to Love: Downplayed. He's figured out that Serena had a crush on him during their travels in Kalos—he's just oblivious to the fact that she still has a crush when Everyone Can See It. That said, he does pick up on the fact that Sora has a crush on Kairi.
  • Outside-Context Problem: Since the Pokémon world has never contended with the likes of the Heartless, he's completely unsure about how to handle them.
  • Signature Mon: He still has his loyal Pikachu by his side, forever and always.

    Serena

A former traveling companion of Ash Ketchum's from years past, she has reunited with him to travel to Orre.

For tropes pertaining to Serena's depiction in canon, see this page.

  • Adaptational Badass: She obtains a magic staff similar to Donald Duck, and starts to become proficient in using it.
  • Age Lift: Like with Ash, she's 18 at the start of the story.
  • Crossover Power Acquisition: She obtains a Magus staff not unlike that of Donald Duck's.
  • Everyone Can See It: Virtually anybody who's not named Ash Ketchum has put two-and-two together and sees that her lingering crush on Ash has not gone away.
  • I'm Standing Right Here: She overhears Bonnie and Sora gossiping about her crush on Ash while the pair are sitting in a jeep within earshot of her.
  • Love Interest: Even all these years later, she acts like this to Ash still. Everyone Can See It except for Ash, though he does seem to get the idea that she had those feelings for him back during their travels.
  • Magic Staff: She gains a Magus staff later on in the story, and is able to later use it.
  • Skewed Priorities: Upon first meeting Sora, she's less concerned about a stranger dropping out of the sky than she his by his usual outfit and massive shoes.
  • Shipper on Deck: She's very supporting of Sora getting together with Kairi.

    Brock

The former Gym Leader of Pewter City, and one of Ash's oldest companions and friends, who's rejoined his old traveling partner in Orre.

For tropes pertaining to Brock's depiction in canon, see this page.

  • Let Me Get This Straight...: He has this reaction when Sora is finally forced to reveal the truth about who he is and where he's from.

    Bonnie

The younger sister of Lumiose City Gym Leader Clemont and now a trainer in her own right, Bonnie has rejoined Ash and Serena from their traveling days in Kalos.

For tropes pertaining to Bonnie's depiction in canon, see this page.

  • Age Lift: Bonnie has now grown up to become a trainer herself.
  • Brutal Honesty: Older though she may be, her bluntness certainly hasn't grown out any. She practically tears into the Orre region for being so far behind the rest of the Pokémon World, even in front of the locals.
  • Cuteness Proximity: She still has this reaction to anything cute she happens to come across.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Zig-Zagged. Some of the residents of Orre don't like her blunt attitude about their region, but others can't help but agree that she's not wrong about how backwards Orre really is compared to the rest of the Pokémon world.
  • Shipper on Deck: For both Ash and Serena, and Sora and Kairi.

    Wes Leo

A native of the Orre Region who was formerly a criminal.

For tropes pertaining to Wes's depiction in canon, see this page.

  • Canon Name: His full name is a combination of his English (Wes) and Japanese (Leo) names.
  • Justified Criminal: Rui's grandmother tells Wes's story to the main group, revealing it stems largely from the region lacking resources and Pokémon.

    Michael Ryuto

A young trainer who winds up getting caught in the middle of the efforts to find Sora.

For tropes pertaining to Michael's depiction in canon, see this page.

  • Canon Name: His full name is a combination of his English (Michael) and Japanese (Ryuto) names.
  • Crossover Couple: Downplayed. He starts developing a crush on Kairi, but she doesn't seem to be interested.
  • Precocious Crush: It's implied he's only following Kairi because he's developing one for her.
  • Rhetorical Question Blunder: When Kairi tries convincing him not to come along out of concern for his safety, he's quick to respond that Ash was not much younger than he was when he started, and he turned out just fine. Kairi tries asking if Ash went looking for criminal organizations to fight, but Michael responds that Team Rocket kept chasing after him. Needless to say, Kairi and Riku are a bit taken aback.
  • Sherlock Scan: Despite his age, he has impressive analytical skills of combat. Even Kairi and Riku are impressed.
  • Tagalong Kid: He secretly tails Kairi and Riku and winds up joining their hunt for Sora.
