    General
  • Alien Geometries: Partly by necessity due to her great sizes and also due to the eldritch nature of their goddess, but their monolithic, cyclopean architecture is known to possess these qualities. Most notable example is the colossal Temple of Kthoryu itself, due to being both a place of worship and the palatial residence of Kthoryu, and it is much Bigger on the Inside than it already is on the outside, on top of its internal Gravity Screw.
  • The Atoner: The Oceanaiads of N'ghft Vulgtmog are this as a whole. After gaining compassion and mercy by fusing with a repentant mortal Oceanaiad named Deep Song, she realized that what she and her people did during the Third Age were deeply reprehensible and decided to seek atonement. Under her leadership and influence, those Oceanaiads who sided with her help the world through doing good deeds so they can redeem themselves in the eyes of the rest of the world.
  • Creepy Good: A whole civilization of Oceanaiads plus one Eldritch Abomination goddess which regretted what they did in the Third Age and pulled a collective Heel–Face Turn.
  • Eldritch Ocean Abyss: The entire civilization is built in the deep depths of the ocean on the Sunken Archipelago and its surrounding trenches. As it's name suggests, the Sunken Archipelago is an island chain that sunk into the ocean but remains suspended by arcane oddities, giving it an otherworldly wrongness. Their structures themselves are built with Alien Geometries and the civilization is inhabited by Oceanaiads and their eldritch Abyssal One sea goddess.
  • Fish People: Most of the population consist of Oceanaiads (part of the same race as the Dazzlings in their true forms) which pulled a Heel–Face Turn in atonement for what their civilization did in the Third Age and before.
  • Lovecraft Lite: The Oceanaiads of N'ghft Vulgtmog are a race of Fish People that worship a family/pantheon of eldritch sea deities, but are out to do good and redeem their kind for their past actions in the Third Age.
  • Proud Scholar Race: Of the "Mystical Race" type. Having left behind their old war-like culture, the Oceanaiads of N'ghft Vulgtmog have evolved into a faction of philosophers who spend their days either trying to understand the world they inhabit. This has led to many intelligent non-Oceanaiad deities like Princess Amicitia Sparkle, Princess Ataraxia, and several members of the Church of the Stars visiting the kingdom to have philosophical debates with the smartest local philosophers. N'ghft Vulgtmog also has artisans who create vast, otherworldly yet beautiful works of art that, while unnerving and eerie to non-Oceanaiad races, are nonetheless highly respected. One primary form of art is music, with their greatest singers being highly revered.

    Kthoryu, the Abyssal Queen

Classification: Elemental/Ethereal/Eldritch

Portfolio: Primordial Sea, Primal Fear, Dark Energy, Remorse

Rank: ???

"I have done countless things that would put me in Hell several times over. I dearly wish I could take them all back."

Queen Kthoryu (her entry here) is the ancient goddess of Primordial Sea, Primal Fear, Dark Energy, and Remorse, and is the benevolent founder and ruling matriarch of N'ghft Vulgtmog.
  • Abstract Apotheosis: She came to embody Remorse as a concept when she merged with Deep Song, gaining the ability to feel empathy for others and realizing how much her alien mindset in past eons had hurt countless innocents.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: She's an ancient goddess who embodies Primordial Sea, Primal Fear, Dark Energy, and Remorse. It's noted that she originally didn't possess Remorse until she fused with Deep Song, giving her the empathy for sapientkind that she and her kind previously lacked.
  • The Atoner: Tens of thousands of years on, she and her Oceanaiad followers are still trying to make up for the damage she and her family and chosen mortal race caused in the Third Age and before.
  • Barrier Warrior: As a goddess of Dark Energy, she can produce barriers made of Dark Energy.
  • Beam Spam: Kthoryu unleashed a colossal beam attack from her maw which wiped out an entire Autorist naval fleet.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: Like the rest of the family, she possessed a strange mindset that could only be understood by herself, her family, or the mortal Oceanaiads that her parents created. It's deconstructed and played for drama - because she was so alien, she lacked the capacity of empathetic understanding for others and did not care about the deaths, destruction, and suffering she would cause others. Because of this, even other deities deemed her to be a threat, culminating in her defeat at the end of the Third Age. Once Deep Song approaches her and fuses with her to give her empathy, she finally understands what she had done, and the full truth drives her to tearful remorse. She has taken huge steps in atoning for her past, but in the process, she has developed a Guilt Complex over what she did, especially in the face of racial hatred that she and her kind receive from most of the world.
  • Cosmic Horror Story: She is effectively a major character of one until Deep Song fused with her. Now she is the Horrifying Hero of a Lovecraft Lite story.
  • Creepy Good: She is an Eldritch Abomination from beneath the waves who wishes to make up for the damage done to the world by her family. She could cause madness merely by existing, but ultimately just wants to do good.
  • Divine Parentage: She is one of many children of Father D'agah and Mother Huthi, divine Abyssal Ones who also created the Oceanaiads. She herself would become the biological mother of many of the Abyssal Princes, though in Deep Echo's case she's technically akin to a loving adoptive step-mother.
  • Eldritch Abomination: Like her parents Father D'agah and Mother Huthi, she is this, an impossibly alien and eldritch sea goddess who fundamentally could not understand what was not of herself, her family or their chosen children the Oceanaiads. Her Fusion Dance with Deep Song changed her on a mental level to something closer to other Sapients on Equus, but physically she is still an abomination which could drive people mad just by looking at her and being in her presence. It's noted her magic is rather alien in nature and can't be categorized by a light or dark magic correctly.
  • Emotion Bomb: As a goddess of Remorse, she can psychically inflict all the suffering and pain her target(s) has inflicted on others back onto them, forcing them to face their sins.
  • The Empath: As a goddess of Remorse, she can psychically sense remorse and understand if it's genuine or fake. This is how she was able to save the more repentant members of an Autorist fleet that stole valuable artifacts from her kingdom.
  • Energy Weapon: As a goddess of Dark Energy, she can fire devastating beams of it. As shown with the Autorist fleet she confronted, she can also create rains of destructive energy.
  • Expy: Going by her name, she is meant to be one to either Cthulhu or his daughter Cthylla, since she is an offspring of two older cosmic horrors. She is also one to Mother Hydra, wife of Father Dagon, given her existence as a deep sea goddess worshipped by a borderline-eldritch race, although in-universe the one closest to Mother Hydra in both name and implied appearance is her own mother, Huthi.
  • Fusion Dance: Kthoryu as she presently is was the result of the original Kthoryu fusing with a benevolent Oceanaiad named Deep Song, resulting in her gaining empathy, understanding, and a conscience to feel remorse for what she's done.
  • Godzilla Threshold: Her using her full power and eldritch form is this, as her true form is extremely destructive and detrimental to the sanity of those around her.
  • Go Mad from the Revelation: Invoked. Her very appearance and presence could drive whole groups of mortals to insanity. An Autorist fleet self-destructed in violent madness and suicidal despair just from being in close proximity to her even before her actual attack blew them to pieces.
The fleet commander gazed in horror at both the leviathan and the oncoming destruction... and his mind snapped, leaving him an insane, laughing wreck as his ship was torn asunder by the rain of the eldritch horror. Across the fleet, his subordinate commanders are left likewise broken in their final moments. Some rocked under tables in gibbering terror like children. Others clasped their heads and howled in utter madness and despair as their minds shattered. A few calmly drew their sidearms and blew their brains out. As her presence washed over the fleet, most of the remaining crew across the ships descended into violent insanity as they saw their doom and what simply cannot be, tearing each other to piece in a bloody frenzy, while some threw themselves overboard just as the attacks struck, choosing death in the depths rather than the horror they face now at the surface.
  • Guilt Complex: Deconstructed. After gaining empathy for sapient life, she was horrified by what her eldritch family and mortal people had done in the Third Age, and she set off to redeem the Oceanaiads by teaching them empathy as well. While this did improve the Oceanaiads' reputation in the eyes of many, it's noted that she felt so guilty regarding her people's sins that she has continuously blamed herself for them, despite many people pointing out what she did before fusing with Deep Song couldn't have been committed by the same person. During a therapy session, Prince Canticum Lunae Cahaya points out how her guilt complex is causing her to neglect herself and makes it quite clear that taking care of her own needs is not selfish at all.
Prince Canticum Lunae Cahaya: (to Queen Kthoryu) Yer Majesty, Ah understand yer pain regardin' what yer people did. Ah've screwed up many times mahself and Ah wish Ah could go back and fix 'em. Guilt's natural, and it's okay ta feel it. But ta dwell on yer mistakes fer a long time... that's like me focusin' on what mah other Pops did ta me as a kid. Or the survivors of the Third Age's end hatin' all the Oceanaiads just 'cause they're Oceanaiads. Slowly, ya start gettin' addicted ta those feelings, and eventually you'll fall in a rut that gets deeper n' deeper the longer ya stay in there.

That's why Ah say it's okay ta let go. Ta learn from yer mistakes and move on. While knowin' what yer people did is important, yer joy and wellbeing matters, too. It's not selfish ta want ta take care of yerself. Whatever Kthoryu did before that fusion or whatever, she's not you. And what yer people and yer parents chose ta do, it was their choice, not yers. Yer you, and ya always will be. All ya need ta do is figure out where ta take the next step... or the next swim, in this case.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Does this after gaining empathy and understanding to comprehend the mortal lives she and her family was hurting and realize what they did was horrible.
  • It's All About Me: Her previous Blue-and-Orange Morality mindset all boiled down to caring only about herself, her family, and mortal people; the rest of the world either doesn't exist or are only playthings for her kind.
  • Large and in Charge: She is absolutely colossal, the point of being the size of an island with tentacles which could toss a fleet of ships around. She is also the main goddess and ruler of a civilization of remorseful Oceanaiads.
  • Last of Their Kind: It's believed she's the last pureblooded Abyssal One, the rest having all perished in the Final Battle with them at the end of Third Age. Her children are all hybrids.
  • Lord of the Ocean: Gender-Inverted and Eldritch version. In Kthoryu's case, she is a goddess of the Primordial Sea, an embodiment of the oceans in their most primeval and therefore purest forms, which grants her greater strength and control over them then younger, more modern sea/ocean deities.
  • Lovecraftian Superpower:
    • As an 'Abyssal One', her power is vaguely understood; notably, it is fueled by Dark Mana, which is not Dark Magic, but rather the magical equal of Dark Matter and/or Dark Energy. The nature of Dark Mana is so alien that it is only observable via its passive effects on the things around it. It is still being heavily researched, and it's believed that Dark Mana is the reason why her temple/palace has strange, eldritch qualities. Her domain of Dark Energy gives her powerful anti-gravity abilities, but otherwise the full scope of it is unknown due to difficulty in observing it.
    • Her domains of Primordial Sea and Primal Fear are also Lovecraftian, to a lesser degree. Being a goddess of Primordial Sea means that her powers are 'purer' and more potent compared to normal Sea deities, making her incredibly dangerous. Her domain of Primal Fear generally revolves around thalassophobia, the fear of oceans and/or deep bodies of water, though she is able to invoke other primal fears depending on her targets.
  • Lovecraft Lite: An eldritch goddess from beneath the seas gains empathy and understanding of other races through a Fusion Dance with a remorseful member of their mortal children and decides to become good (by other races' standards) and atone for it.
  • The Magnificent: Known as "the Abyssal Queen", due to being the divine ruler of the deep sea kingdom of N'ghft Vulgtmog. If Vicearch Iniquitous is to be believed, she is alternatively called "Sovereign of the Depths" and "the Redeemer of Sirenkind".
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Fusing with Deep Song filled Kthoryu with empathy, wisdom, and knowledge for other beings beyond her immediate family and made her realize how much harm they had caused to others at the end of the Third Age and before that. She was not happy about it in the slightest.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: Being a colossal eldritch sea goddess and the daughter of two 'Abyssal Ones' means that she could wipe out whole fleets (like what she did with the Autorist fleet that stole many powerful artifacts that could wreak havoc if misused) and drive entire groups of mortals mad just by appearing. During the cataclysms that ended the Third Age, it took several divine pantheons as well as an entire army of Crystal Titans to bring her down. One drabble implies that she could be comparable to Vicearch Iniquitous in terms of sheer power, to the point where both their respective children were nervous about a potential fight between them; thankfully, this never happened. It's deconstructed; because deities get Stronger with Age, she is immensely powerful, which means that she frequently has to restrain herself to only use her full power in absolutely dire situations to avoid collateral damage.
  • Rape and Revenge: Double Subverted. She tracked down the Dolphin Clan that brutalized and raped Deep Song, who is now part of her... to offer them a Last-Second Chance after psychically forcing them to experience the suffering they've inflicted on others. She forgave and spared the ones who repented and showed genuine remorse for their actions. Those that didn't, however, faced her wrath.
  • Supernatural Fear Inducer: As a goddess of Primal Fear, she can project an aura of primordial terror, inflicting thalassophobia (fear of the ocean or deep bodies of water in general) on those affected by it. She can also make people hallucinate their own primal fears. In her avatar form, this is signaled by her bioluminescent patches glowing with a baleful 'deadlight'. In her true form, her domain is potent enough to drive weak-willed creatures insane.
  • Villainous BSoD: Deep Song fusing with her gave her the ability to empathize with and understand beings that aren't her family, resulting in her developing a conscience and ability to actually feel guilt. This leads to her Heel–Face Turn.

Abyssal Princes

    General
  • Badass Family: All of the Abyssal Princes are divine children of Queen Kthoryu, but they're also powerful eldritch deities and warriors.
  • Divine Parentage: All of the Abyssal Princes are divine children of Queen Kthoryu, whether biologically or through adoption.
  • Eldritch Abomination: As Oceanaiad deities, all of the Abyssal Princes are eldritch by nature. However, it's subverted as they are genuinely benevolent and kindhearted royals thanks to the influence of their mother, Kthoryu, who gained compassion via fusing with a mortal Oceanaiad who realized the error of their people's wickedness.
  • Family Theme Naming: All of the Abyssal Princes have names that are related to the ocean.
  • She Is the King: Despite there being female members, all biological/adoptive children of Kthoryu are collectively named the "Abyssal Princes", regardless of gender.
  • Warrior Prince: The male Abyssal Princes are powerful eldritch deities and competent fighters.

    Prince Deep Echo

Classification: [WIP]

Portfolio: [WIP]

Rank: Divine (Tier III/Intermediate)

Prince Deep Echo is a benevolent Oceanaiad god and a son of Queen Kthoryu despite his status as a bastard child.
  • Child by Rape: It's heavily implied he's the result of Deep Song being raped by the Dolphin Clan who brutalized her. From the looks of it, however, Deep Song and Kthoryu don't hold it against him.
  • Family Theme Naming: He and his biological mother share oceanic/sound-related names, his mother's name being Deep Song, while his name is Deep Echo.
  • Heroic Bastard: He's the bastard son of Deep Song and one of the Dolphins who attacked and raped her. Deep Song fusing with Queen Kthoryu technically makes him the half-brother of the other Abyssal Princes. Despite this, he is a benevolent god and a heroic character, largely thanks to his loving upbringing despite the ugly circumstances of his birth.
  • Meaningful Name: Twofold. "Deep" refers to the ocean, while "Echo" refers to the "echo", a sound or series of sounds caused by the reflection of soundwaves from a surface back to the listener. It refers to how he's the bastard offspring of an Oceanaiad named Deep Song, who refused to mistreat him for being a Child by Rape and continued raising him with love.
  • Sins of Our Fathers: Defied. Despite being the result of a Dolphin Clan assaulting and raping Deep Song in the past, both his mother and his stepfather, Signal Flare, refuses to blame him for it and continued raising him with love. Kthoryu feels the same way about him after fusing with Deep Song, treating him like her own beloved child (which he technically is).
  • Upbringing Makes the Hero: His parents' choice to raise him right instead of holding his birth father's actions against him played a huge part in him growing up to be a benevolent god and Abyssal Prince

    Princess Abyssal Plain

Classification: [WIP]

Portfolio: [WIP]

Rank: Divine (Tier III/Intermediate)

Princess Abyssal Plain (first introduced here) is an Oceanaiad goddess and a daughter of Queen Kthoryu.

Prince Ghost Sea, the Guardian of the Dead

Classification: Elemental/Ethereal/Ascendant/Eldritch

Portfolio: Death, Storms, Ships, Retribution

Rank: Divine (Tier III/Intermediate)

Prince Ghost Sea (first introduced here) is the Oceanaiad god of Death, and is a benevolent Abyssal Prince despite his nature and eldritch appearance.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: He's an Oceanaiad god who embodies Death.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: He's a diligent Death god who is kind and comforting to the souls he ushers, but he is utterly terrifying when dealing with wicked souls.
  • Don't Fear the Reaper: He's a benevolent Death god who diligently guides those who die at sea to their final resting place, and is generally kind and comforting to the souls under his care. However, when dealing with wicked souls, he relentlessly chases them across the seas "like a horror movie monster" until he captures and drags them down to a watery Hell-Realm.
  • Dragged Off to Hell: He drags any wicked souls he captures down to a watery Hell-Realm to face eternal punishment for their crimes.
  • Same-Sex Triplets: Averted. He, Blood Trench, and Serene Tides are part of a set of mix-gendered fraternal triplets, with Serene Tides being the only female.

Prince Blood Trench, the (WIP title)

Classification: [WIP]

Portfolio: [WIP]

Rank: Divine (Tier III/Intermediate)

  • Same-Sex Triplets: Averted. He, Ghost Sea, and Serene Tides are part of a set of mix-gendered fraternal triplets, with Serene Tides being the only female.

Princess Serene Tides, the (WIP title)

Classification: [WIP]

Rank: Divine (Tier III/Intermediate)

  • Same-Sex Triplets: Averted. She, Blood Trench, and Ghost Sea are part of a set of mix-gendered fraternal triplets, with her being the only female.

    Prince Derelict Dive

Classification: [WIP]

Portfolio: Destruction, [WIP]

Rank: Divine (Tier III/Intermediate)

Prince Derelict Dive (first introduced here) is the Oceanaiad god of Destruction, and is a benevolent Abyssal Prince.
  • Alliterative Name: Derelict Dive.
  • Necessarily Evil: He believes that destroying 'rot' - including wicked people - is a necessary part of being a Destroyer Deity as it ensures positive growth and survival. He compares his role to being a gardener who diligently and carefully removes weeds, pests, and dead foliage/branches so their garden can thrive.
  • Weak, but Skilled: He's a god who's 'younger' than Prince Canticum Lunae, yet is more experienced and skilled in applying his domains, whereas Canticum is now a newly re-Ascendant 'infant' eldritch deity who looks as old as the Thirteen Empyreans yet is Unskilled, but Strong.

Historical Individuals

    Deep Song

  • The Atoner: What prompted her to merge with Kthoryu was the desire to redeem her people and atone for their crimes during and in ending the Third Age.
  • Crisis of Faith: Deep Song was horrified and guilt-ridden by what her people, the Oceanaiads, did to the world at the end of the Third Age, prompting her to meld and merge with Kthoryu and give her understanding of the other inhabitants of the world beyond their own kind.
  • Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: After accidentally awakening a slumbering Kthoryu, she is subjected to immense pain as the eldritch goddess attempts to psychically force her way into her mind. Thanks to her strong will and resolve to redeem the Oceanaiads, she not only resists, but also fuses with Kthoryu in order to give her empathy for beings outside the Oceanaiads and her family.
  • Fish People: She was once a mortal Oceanaiad before she merged with Kthoryu.
  • A Form You Are Comfortable With: Kthoryu still uses her former form for interacting with other beings without maddening them with her very appearance and presence.
  • Fusion Dance: She merged with Kthoryu mentally and physically to grant the eldritch sea goddess empathetic understanding for other races beyond the Oceanaiads and her own family. While this killed her by all intents and purposes, she succeeds in her goal, driving Kthoryu to tearful remorse and pushing her to make amends with those she wronged with her actions. It's theorized that Symvíosi, the Co-Existence Primeval, had a hand in this, but it is unconfirmed.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: She merged with Kthoryu in order to give the eldritch sea goddess empathy, awareness and knowledge of other sapient beings beyond her own family and chosen race, setting her on the path to a Heel Realization and a Heel–Face Turn. This is despite knowing she will cease to exist as her own person by all intents and purposes.
  • Posthumous Character: While she lives on through Queen Kthoryu, as an individual, she is dead by all intents and purposes. However, the positive influence she had on Kthoryu, her family, and people is undeniable.
  • Rape as Backstory: When she was brutalized by a Dolphin Clan, she was raped in the process (implied by more than one of them). This lead to the birth of her son Deep Echo, but she refused to blame him for his father's actions and strived to be his loving mother, something Kthoryu maintains.

    Prince-Consort Signal Flare

  • Did You Just Romance Cthulhu?: He did experienced shock and horror at first, but once he got over it he was quite fine with finding the Oceanaiad he loved Deep Song had merged with and become an eldritch sea goddess.
  • Good Parents: Implied. He fathered many of the Abyssal Princes with Queen Kthoryu and treated them quite well. This includes his stepson, Deep Echo, who was born a Child by Rape. This influenced how the Abyssal Princes interacted with others and the world beyond N'ghft Vulgtmog.
  • The Lost Lenore: His death deeply affected Queen Kthoryu, who loved him as deeply as Deep Song did before the merger. This later caused Kthoryu to sympathize with Emperor Golden Scepter's loss of his beloved mortal wife, Blessed Skies.
  • Mayfly–December Romance: Justified While he was already dating the mortal Deep Song at the time, he would start dating Kthoryu after the eldritch goddess merged with Deep Song, having recognized a part of his girlfriend in her. Naturally, being a mortal means he would be outlived by both his wife and the children he sired with her. Kthoryu was deeply affected by his death and never remarried since then.
  • Muggle: In life, he was an ordinary lighthouse keeper who saved an Oceanaiad and fell in love with her, and later the eldritch sea goddess she became.
  • Posthumous Character: Being a mortal Pony, he's long dead, but his wife/lover Kthoryu still loves him and mourns him deeply to this day.
