Main Characters

     Adachi Kiyoshi
Voiced by: Atsushi Abe (drama CD), Chiaki Kobayashi (anime)
Portrayed by: Eiji Akaso (TV drama)
A salary man who finds out after his thirtieth birthday that he suddenly gained the ability to hear people's thoughts if he touches them because he's a virgin. He struggles with this power once he realizes his co-worker Yuichi Kurosawa is in love with him.
  • Ambiguously Bi: He had crushes on girls in the past and attempted to get rid of his virginity with a female sex worker but was overwhelmed by her inner thoughts. He ends up slowly falling in love with Kurosawa over the course of the story.
  • Blessed with Suck: He quickly realizes how much of a strain it is when you're constantly bombarded by people's inner thoughts. It's especially bad when he's stuck in cramped places like elevators or subways where everyone is nothing but miserable. When he attempts to lose his magic by having sex with a sex worker, he doesn't go through with it because her thoughts were too kinky for him to stomach. This also starts to affect his relationship with Kurosawa as he sometimes accidentally blurts out what the other was thinking and overhears the other planning surprises for him that are immediately ruined. In the TV drama it has even affected his life where he's resorted to using electronic money and getting up incredibly early to avoid the rush to work so he won't have to touch anyone.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Adachi has a lot to say in his thoughts, especially about Kurosawa and his advances.
  • Insecure Love Interest: Once he hears Kurosawa's feelings towards him, he's unsure how to react, mainly because he's never really been in a romantic relationship before. He's also overwhelmed by how perfect Kurosawa appears and worries the other would soon grow bored of him because he doesn't feel that exceptional.
  • Luminescent Blush: He flushes easily around Kurosawa especially when the other does something nice for him, and when he hears his internal thoughts.
  • Nervous Wreck: When he's put under pressure, he freaks out a lot, especially in his internal monologue.
  • Not So Above It All: In the manga he actually takes delight in hopefully coming across Kurosawa not being so perfect. He soon becomes disappointed when the exact opposite happens though and actually gets slightly annoyed.
  • Power Incontinence: Whenever he touches someone, he can hear their thoughts. Given where he lives, this makes it difficult for him to get around as he's constantly surrounded by people. He attempts to fix this in the TV drama where he uses electronic money and getting to work earlier to avoid touching anyone, but it proves to still be a nuisance for him. This also makes it difficult once he does start a relationship with Kurosawa since every time they hold hands or accidentally touch one another, he can hear the other's thoughts and the surprises he's starting to plan for them which is immediately ruined.
  • Salaryman: As the protagonist of a Japanese Office Romance series, he has a desk job and many scenes revolve around his job and socializing at work. Compared to characters like Tsuge, who works from home as an author, and Minato, who delivers mail and wants to be a dancer, Aachi and Kurosawa's jobs are noted to not be the only types of jobs available.
  • Secret Secret-Keeper: Kurosawa has no idea Adachi knows of Kurosawa's crush on him due to mind-reading.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: In the drama he always gets onigiri with tuna and double mayo for his meals.
  • Uke: Very clear he's on the receiving end of the relationship.
  • Virgin Power: Due to him never having sex once he turned thirty, he gained the ability to hear other people's thoughts if he ever touches them. He later finds out that he will lose this ability once he loses his virginity.

     Yuichi Kurosawa
Voiced by: Takuya Sato (drama CD), Ryōta Suzuki (anime)
Portrayed by: Keita Machida (TV drama)
Adachi's co-worker who's not only popular amongst everyone at work and is also very kind. After Adachi accidentally bumps into him in the elevator, he finds out that Kurosawa has a crush on him.
  • The Ace: Kurosawa exceeds at everything he does, especially at work, making him incredibly popular amongst the ladies and bosses.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: When girls confessed to liking him in the past, he would simply ask "Why?" leading them unable to come up with a response as they both quickly come to the conclusion they only like him for his looks.
  • Attractiveness Isolation: Because of his good-looks life is easy for him, and it doesn't stop him from getting the attention of every girl who sees him. However, in his past it's shown they never really knew the real him and only liked him for his looks. This leads him to use his looks to make his and his co-workers' jobs easier, but also makes him very lonely as no one is willing to get close to him.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: The reason he fell in love with Adachi was because Adachi looked after him once he got drunk during a meeting and accidentally was rude towards the president who made a pass at him. Unlike everyone else who only sees him as a pretty face, Adachi lists off all of his good qualities as well as how he works really hard for the company. This moment caused Kurosawa to quickly gain feelings for Adachi.
  • Can't Act Perverted Toward a Love Interest: While his internal thoughts will have you thinking otherwise, he genuinely respects and appreciates Adachi and tries to keep his distance as to not scare the other away as well as being afraid of ruining the relationship they now have.
  • Chick Magnet: There are multiple scenes of him being surrounded by women who all want to grab his attention for themselves.
  • Covert Pervert: He apparently studied Adachi a lot, from locating the mole on the back of his neck, wondering what the other smells like when he's close to him, to figuring out what food he likes to eat. He also wonders if he can take pictures of Adachi because he thinks he looks cute, especially when he's asleep. His thoughts are also sometimes filled with him gushing over how sexy Adachi is... which the other can hear when he touches him.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: He gets jealous of everyone else who comes close to Adachi, usually finding some way to come between Adachi and that person. Most of his thoughts even revolve around how he wishes he can keep Adachi to himself and that no one else realizes how amazing he truly is. In the TV drama this is downplayed a bit more where Kurosawa does chide himself for being selfish.
  • Determinator: He works incredibly hard and won't stop until he's reached his goal. In the manga, he actually thinks about he'll take his time to wear down Adachi enough until the other falls for him.
  • Good Angel, Bad Angel: In the manga, he has this a few times when he's struggling over not making a move on Adachi, but at the same time really wanting to make his feelings known.
  • Hypocritical Humor: In some of his thoughts he'll lament at how much he hates something like Valentines Day because he's bombarded with unwanted attention by the female staff. However, if Adachi does something nice for him or tells him he likes the gift he got him, he'll immediately backpedal and scream about how much he loves this day.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: While he's madly in love with Adachi, he won't pressure the other or force his feelings onto him. At the start he's even willing to just remain friends or colleagues as he's worried Adachi won't return his feelings. Fortunately for him, Adachi starts to return his feelings.
  • Nice Guy: He's always helping someone and looks after his co-workers in the company. When he first reads Kurosawa's thoughts and sees how hard Kurosawa is trying to keep his feeling for Adachi in check and not force himself onto the other, Adachi can't help but admit that Kurosawa is a genuinely nice person.
  • Not So Above It All: He looks calm and collected on the surface, but he's internally squeeing or screaming whenever he's close to Adachi. He can also keep a good poker face even as his imagination gets a bit more racy when he's near Adachi. In the TV drama, he even recites poetry about his date with Adachi, causing the other to giggle in amusement.
  • Real Men Cook: He's proficient in cooking and happily makes Adachi meals whenever he can.
  • Salaryman: Much like his coworker, Adachi, Kurosawa works in the office and is seen traveling for work and socializing with his coworkers in a very Japanese fashion.
  • Seme: If his constant fantasies of what he wants to do to Adachi weren't a give away.
  • Single-Target Sexuality: He hasn't been in a relationship before he met Adachi, and despite every girl he meets fawning over him, he quickly falls in love with Adachi after Adachi looked after Kurosawa while he was drunk and showed him some kindness.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Downplayed. Kurosawa develops a habit of watching Adachi whenever he can after he falls in love with him.
  • Understanding Boyfriend: He always keeps Adachi's well-being as his top priority and is always willing to only do something if Adachi is fully on board with it. Once Adachi comes clean about his magic but is terrified of losing it, Kurosawa asks him if he wants to just end their relationship here because he doesn't want Adachi to be sad even though the magic is what brought them together.

Side Characters

     Masato Tsuge
Voiced by: Kazuyuki Okitsu (drama CD), Makoto Furukawa (anime)
Portrayed by: Kodai Asaka (TV drama)
Adachi's friend and a writer who lives in the same complex as him. He initially doesn't believe in Adachi's powers, but once he turns thirty himself, he suddenly realizes the rumors are true.
  • Brutally Honest: Tsuge bluntly tells Adachi that his gloomy outlook and overly serious demeanor are the reasons why he's so unpopular.
  • Hikikomori: In his internal thoughts, Minato calls him this, although due to his job as a novelist, he likely spends most of it inside researching and writing.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Adachi's best friend Tsuge is always Brutally Honest with him and seems to be fairly anti-social. But he's a good guy with a soft heart deep down, as his adoption of Udon shows.
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover: He seems cold and off-putting at first glance, but he clearly adores his cat Udon and is what gets Minato to realize he's not that bad of a person.
  • Not So Above It All: He acts cool and confident most of the time. However, once he realizes he can hear Minato's thoughts and starts gaining a crush on him he's anything but. Whenever Minato comes over to play with Udon, Tsuge is either screaming in confusion or passing out on the spot.
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: He's a novelist and wears glasses. He can also give decent advice to Adachi on love, despite the fact his experience is equal to Adachi's.
  • Stalker with a Crush: The TV drama plays this a bit more for laughs where he constantly orders stuff online just so he can have an excuse for Minato to come over more often. When the other doesn't arrive to deliver his packages, he even goes to his workplace with binoculars to hopefully spy on him and find out why he hadn't shown up.
  • Unexpected Virgin: Adachi thought he had experience in romance, given he writes a lot of novels on it. Turns out, he's just as inexperienced as the other.
  • Uptight Loves Wild: Tsuge is fairly introverted and quiet, but he falls for Minato who dreams of being a dancer.

  • Berserk Button: When one of Rokkaku's co-workers come by and tell Minato his dancing isn't actually going to get him anywhere, Minato nearly starts a fight as the others pull him away and try to calm him down. When Adachi is touching his shoulder, he hears how passionate Minato is about dancing.
  • Goal in Life: He dreams of being a dancer and starts falling for Tsuge when the other tells him he'll support in him in his dream.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: He has blond hair and is actually a pretty nice person, if a little stand-offish at first meeting.
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover: On their first meeting Tsuge mistook him for those partying types that he hates, but once he hears the boy's thoughts, he realizes he's not that bad. Minato also loves Udon and looked after the cat when she was still a stray but couldn't take her in.
  • Straight Gay: Tsuge initially believes his feelings won't be returned because Minato wouldn't be interested in men, but turns out he's actually gay. As he was practicing his dance, his ex-boyfriend returns and kisses him as a way for them to get back together but he rejects him.
  • Who Names Their Kid "Dude"?: He's internally baffled at Tsuge's laziness when he tells the boy he named his cat Udon because he found her in an Udon box before adopting her. However, he sees how well Tsuge takes care of Udon and concludes he must not really be such a bad guy.

One of Adachi's co-workers, who just recently graduated from college and is eager to help or prove himself in the company.
  • Big Brother Instinct: He was Minato's upperclassmen when they were in school and looks out for the other. In the TV drama when Minato tells him Tsgue is probably avoiding him because he accidentally found out he was gay, he gets so infuriated to the point he makes Adachi call Tsgue to meet up with them at a cafe and downs his entire iced coffee drink in anger. Once Tsgue does show up, Rokkaku launches himself at the other, causing Adachi and Kurosawa to hold him back.
  • Entertainingly Wrong: He's usually the one to butt into a moment between Kurosawa and Adachi, which he doesn't seem to notice. In an extra episode for the TV Drama, he notices some hints that Kurosawa and Adachi are a couple... but chalks it up to them working together to make him a better employee.
  • Goal in Life: Previously, his dream was to be a dancer, but decided to stop chasing that dream and instead became a salary man at Adachi's company.
  • Hero Worship: He starts looking up to Adachi and Kurosawa as he spends more time around them.

     Kengo Urabe
Portrayed by: Suzunosuke (TV drama)
One of Adachi's co-workers who shovels his work onto Adachi and also was the one who told him about thirty year old virgins becoming wizards, although he likely thought it was all a joke.
  • Bit Character: Compared to the others, he doesn't have a whole lot of screen time and he's only really there to exposit the wizard ability to Adachi, who he doesn't know is a virgin.
  • Foreshadowing: He's the one who tells Adachi that thirty year old virgins become wizards. However, he likely took that all as a joke as he teases Adachi after the other just gained his magic.
