Common-Type Characters

    Barry
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/brs1barry.png
Jetpack Hero
Attacks: Shotgun, Dynamite, Electroshield, RPG
Alternate Skins: Fake Scientist, Stuntman
The protagonist of the titular series and the starter character of this game. An Australian salesman armed with a shotgun and a jetpack.
  • All for Nothing: The ending to "Robotic Invention" event; Barry successfully helps scientists and Brains in building Robo-Rex, but his intentions to ride on this thing (the very reason he decided to assist his enemies in the first place) go nowhere due to Brains putting a Big Red Button on its back.
  • Cooperation Gambit: "Robotic Invention" event has him assisting scientists and Brains, the people he's fighting against in his games, to collect nuts and build Robo-Rex. He does this mainly to have another cool vehicle to ride on.
  • Recoil Boost: Barry's iconic Machine Gun Jetpack is still present and he uses it to boost forward.
  • Short-Range Shotgun: His starter weapon, that functions exactly as it did in other games. However, it can be upgraded for more range.
  • Sleeves Are for Wimps: As always, Barry's suit lacks sleeves. Fittingly, this also applies to both of his alternate costumes.
  • Wearing a Flag on Your Head: With Stuntman skin, he wears the helmet with what closely resembles an American flag, even though Barry is said to be an Australian.

    Mari
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/brs2mari.png
Strawberry Ninja
Origin: Fruit Ninja
Attacks: Strawberry Burst, Banana Skin, Yoyo Swirl, Tornado
Alternate Skins: Ninja Master, Blackberry Ninja
One of the ninjas from Fruit Ninja and the very first unlockable character. A student of Sensei with a strawberry motif.
  • Banana Peel: Her "Trap" attack has her drop banana peels for other racers to trip on.
  • Killer Yo-Yo: Her variation of Shield, Yoyo Swirl, has her create strawberry-like Yo-Yos around her that damage opponents.
  • Significant Green-Eyed Redhead: Has green eyes, red hair, and has one of the more significant roles in "The Juice Jitsu Training" event.
  • Strawberry Shorthand: Mari already has a noticeable strawberry motif, but two of her attacks go even further. Her projectile attack has her throw strawberry at opponents and Level 5 Yoyo Swirl gives her invisibility shield, which also looks like a strawberry. She is also one of the kindest characters in the cast.
  • Why Can't I Hate You?: After Rory eats all dragon fruit she gave him to look after, she states that she should be mad at him for being a bad bear, but can't, since she finds him cute.

    Rory
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/brs3rory.png
Angry Bear
Attacks: Statue, Easel, Color Splash, Paint Bucket
Alternate Skins: Angry Panda, Gummy Bear
The protagonist of Bears vs. Art. A brown bear seeking to destroy all paintings he can find.
  • Bears Are Bad News: Is just as capable of "Battle Racing", as everyone else. Also seemingly threatens to attack Fruit Ninjas in the ending of "The Juice Jitsu Training" if they don't give him more food.
  • Big Eater: When Mari gives him some dragon fruit to look after and tells him to protect them, Rory immediately decides to eat them all. He reappears at the end of the event, demanding more food.
  • Improbable Weapon User: While he isn't the only one to use Improvised Weapons, he's notable for having all of his attacks to be improvised. More specifically, he attacks with a statue, an easel, paint splotches, and a bucket of paint.
  • Suddenly Speaking: He is usually only talks in roars, except for the ending to "The Juice Jitsu Training", where he makes it clear what he wants from Fruit Ninjas.
    Rory: MOOOAAARRR FRUITTT!

    Scientist
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/brs10scientist.png
Researcher
Attacks: Beam Throw, Sentinel, Electroshield, RPG
A minor character from Jetpack Joyride. One of the many look-alike employees at Legitimate Research, the super-secret laboratory Barry often pays a visit to.
  • Adaptational Badass: The scientists in Jetpack Joyride are harmless. This one, however, is much more capable, having a set of attacks and all.
  • Go-Karting with Bowser: Despite Barry opposing them in their own series, this game sees two in a sprint racing competition on the equal power level.
  • Hazmat Suit: While there are several variations of scientists in Jetpack Joyride, the one that appears in this game is the one that wears a hazmat suit.
  • Moveset Clone: He was released after Barry and Flash, and uses their attacks for his moveset. (Barry's Shield and RPG Missiles and Flash's Beam Throw and Sentinel.)
  • The Voiceless: When he was first added to the game, he used to be fully silent. He was however given his own set of voice clips in later update.

    Katsuro
Origin: Fruit Ninja
Attacks: Pineapple Throw, Ninja Bomb, Shuriken Storm, Hurricane
One of the ninjas from Fruit Ninja. A student of Sensei with a pineapple motif.
  • Moveset Clone: Shares some of the moveset elements with both Mari and Sensei, though not as much as the Scientist. His shield looks like Sensei's Fruit Tornado visually, but acts more like Mari's Yoyo Swirl mechanically, Trap and Position attacks are taken directly from Mari and Sensei respectively, while the Pineapple Throw acts similar to King's Brick Throw.

Rare-Type Characters

    King
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/brs4king.png
Your Majesty
Origin: Raskulls
Attacks: Brick Throw, Gold Block, Magic Shield, Raskulls Shock
Alternate Skins: Princess
The protagonist of Raskulls. A self-centred but ultimately heroic ruler of the Raskulls species.
  • Adaptational Wimp: While it could be explained by the fact that it's the Colossatron he's facing against, "Colossatron's Menace" event shows him being rather cowardly, leaving all the fighting to Dan and making excuses just so he wouldn't be the one to face Colossatron's wrath. This cowardliness was not present in Raskulls, where he's shown willingly jumping into action when the opportunity is given.
  • Composite Character: His newly-found cowardly personality and friendship with Dan and Josie in "Colossatron's Menace" makes him a stand-in for Dan The Man King, another narcissistic character of high authority who is only referred to by the occupation he holds.
  • Magic Staff: Raskulls Shock has him use his scepter to attack other racers with electricity.
  • Suddenly Voiced: While he speaks a lot in Raskulls, he (Like the rest of the Raskulls) never had a proper voice up until this game.
  • Wholesome Crossdresser: His alternate skin has him dress up as a princess.

    Josie
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/brs9josie.png
Empowered
Origin: Dan The Man (Debut: Stage 2)
Attacks: Knive Blast, Mine, Fire Move, Resistance
Alternate Skins: Pixel Perfect
The deuteragonist of Dan The Man. Dan's love interest, just as capable of fighting as her boyfriend is.
  • Moveset Clone: Of Dan. Their main difference is that their items are upgraded in different order. At level 50, Dan has slightly more speed, while Josie has better attack and defence.
  • Retraux: Her "Pixel Perfect" skin, based on her sprites from her series.
  • Spread Shot: Like Dan, her main attack is Initial Burst, though with knives instead of
  • Suddenly Speaking: Despite not being able to do so (at least until Stage 14, which was released after this game) in the series she came from, "Colossatron's Menace" shows her talking normally to other characters with no issues as oppose of using Pictorial Speech-Bubble.

    Flash
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/brs7flash.png
Best Friend
Attacks: Beam Throw, Sentinel, Electric Balls, Profit Bird
A minor character from Jetpack Joyride. Barry's robotic pet that follows him on his adventures through Legitimate Research.
  • Adaptational Badass: While not to the extent of the Scientist, Flash didn't have much to attack with in Jetpack Joyride, but in this game he can use laser beams, shields and Sentinels.
  • Out of Focus: Of all playable characters, he plays the least important role in the stories told during the events, only appearing for one cutscene in "Robotic Invention" listening to Barry talking about Robo-Rex.

    Dan
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/brs5dan.png
The Man
Origin: Dan The Man (Debut: Stage 1)
Attacks: Shuriken Blast, Mine, Fire Move, Resistance
Alternate Skins: Pixel Perfect, The Knight
The protagonist of the titular series. Impulsive hero from a video game doing everything possible to complete it.
  • Armor Is Useless: The knight armor he gets by the end of "Colossatron's Menace" zig-zags this. It's based on the armor Dan wore in Stage 5, where it didn't last. In Battle Racing Stars, it doesn't give him any protection in-game, being only cosmetic, and even the Vendor doesn't see much value in it. However, it turns out to be the key to defeat Colossatron.
  • Intelligible Unintelligible: Unlike other characters from his series, Dan is still restricted to unintelligible noises minus the Pictorial Speech-Bubble here. That said, he talks to other characters a lot more than he does in his series, and everyone else seems to understand him regardless.
  • Retraux: His "Pixel Perfect" skin, based on their sprites from his series.
  • Spread Shot: His main attack is to throw shurikens covering multiple areas.
  • The Stoic: The most emotionless of all racers, which was seemingly done to replicate his appearance in his own series, where he doesn't show much emotion by virtue of being a player character. Notably, he doesn't change his expression during his victory or losing animations.

Epic-Type Characters

    Z-Rex
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/brs6zrex.png
Prehistoric Jaws
Attacks: Dino Breath, Zombie Minion, Gibs Explosion, Meteorite
Alternate Skins: Dinocorn, Robo-Rex
One of the characters from Age of Zombies. Initially an enemy of Barry's, turned into a recurring character and his mount.
  • Breath Weapon: His attack weapon is Dinosaur Breath, a wind-type of this trope.
  • Ludicrous Gibs: One of his attacks is ”Gibs Explosion”, which has him throw his own entrails in multiple directions to damage opponents. He doesn't change in appearance while using it, though.
  • Rainbows and Unicorns: A "Dinocorn" skin, which gives him a unicorn features, such as white skin, a horn, and a rainbow-colored mane, parts of which shuffle between each other during the idle animation. Additionally, it can be combined with a Super Rainbow trail, to give Z-Rex Colorful Contrails of rainbow when using the boost button.
  • Speaks in Binary: Robo-Rex speaks this way, due to being a robot.

    Sensei
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/brs8sensei.png
Living Legend
Origin: Fruit Ninja
Attacks: Katana Boomerang, Bombs Out, Fruit Tornado, Fruit Combo
Alternate Skins: Watermelon Master
A mascot of Fruit Ninja. A wise elderly man teaching how to use fruit slicing as a martial art.
  • Katanas Are Just Better: His starter weapon, Katana Boomerang.
  • Precision-Guided Boomerang: His Katana Boomerang at Level 3 or higher. At this point it will also be able to go through walls, slash through multiple opponents, and break stone blocks. The Item system makes it unnecessary for Sensei to catch, however, since his next item will be picked randomly.

Non-Playable Characters

    Dr. Brains
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/brsprofbrains.png
The antagonist of Barry Steakfries series. The owner of Legitimate Research keen on taking over the world. In this game, he's the main obstacle within UFO Apocalypse game mode. He also plays a role in "Robotic Invention", where he tries to build Robo-Rex.
  • Advancing Wall of Doom: In UFO Apocalypse, he chases the races on the Flying Saucer, trying to abduct them.
  • Mad Scientist: Like in his home series. "Robotic Invention" even focuses on his efforts to create Robo-Rex from nothing but a dozen of nuts.

    Vendor
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/brsvendor.png
Origin: Dan The Man (Debut: Stage 1)
A merchant from Dan The Man, who appears in "Colossatron's Menace" to help Dan, King and Josie defeat Colossatron... For a fee, of course.
  • Honest John's Dealership: Throughout the event he gives Dan useless weapons that don't work on Colossatron. The one thing that ends up working, Knight Armor, he viewed as a worthless junk that he was willing to give away for free, until Josie took interest in it.
  • Suddenly Speaking: Like Josie, "Colossatron's Menace" shows him talking to other characters despite only being able to do so through Pictorial Speech-Bubble in Dan The Man.

    Colossatron
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/brscolossatron.png
The Villain Protagonist of Colossatron: Massive World Threat. A Segmented Serpent Kaiju from outer space that appears in "Colossatron's Menace" event eager to destroy King's kingdom.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: First two times Dan tries to fight it, Colossatron barely takes any damage and quickly disposes of him. The third time, however, it's the other way around.
  • Cutscene Boss: Dan only gets to fight it in several dialogue cutscenes, defeating it in the very last one.
  • Generic Doomsday Villain: Like in the game it comes from, Colossatron doesn't seem to have any motivation behind its destruction. The only thing for sure is that it plans to obliterate the Raskulls kingdom and apparently has a bad temper.
