Apotheosis: Adeificatoris in Absentia

    Original PC gods

Chimaerus

God of monsters/monstrosity.
  • The Fair Folk: Similar in that both steal children for their own ends, and both seen not to care about the consequences.
  • Mother of a Thousand Young: Very likely to become one in the future, since he turns pregnant women into incubators for his monsters.

Dakepthia

Demigoddess of death and the afterlife. Former prophet and adopted daughter of Dakephous who inherited his domain after Eirene imprisoned him at their wedding, leading to his death.
  • Deity of Human Origin: Was the prophet and adopted daughter of Dakephous before ascending to godhood.
  • Revenge: Dakephthia's primary motive, directed at Eirene.

Dasos

God of beasts and the untamed wilds.
  • The Beastmaster: Especially when he expanded into Thrace and gained control of an army of minotaurs, chimaeras, dragons etc. This resulted in the so called 'Monster Passover' whereby large amounts of humans were slaughtered in a single night when Dasos loosed them. This was due to the fact the humans were hunting and killing them however.

Eirene

Goddess of the Woods and Queen of Macedonia.
  • The High Queen: Widely loved and honored ruler of Macedonia, Thessaly, and Thrace.

Epithus

God of fire and (in his earlier days) insects. His stronghold is in Euboea.
  • Born Unlucky: Over the course of his life, he has managed to get his original prophet killed, burn his home city to the ground, and hasn't managed to successfully interact with NPCs a single time. And now he's dead, killed by the Kai.
  • Eldritch Abomination: Subverted. He's "described" as one, but he's nothing compared to the Crawling Chaos.

Fedelmid

God of cats and celestial lights.
  • Born Unlucky: Started in proximity to Tiamat, and quickly drew her attention by killing her cultists. Sought refuge in Persia, which is ruled by the demigod Darius whose vassals often end up Eaten Alive for his empowerment. Being a vassal of Darius also meant he was obligated to fight in a war against Orubashi, a deity whose enemies have been known to end up Eaten Alive as well. As such, he fled to Egypt and in doing so lost most of his followers who were unwilling to leave their homes. And then he died on said trip when Tiamat turned the whole Eastern Mediterranean into a swirling sea of primordial chaos.

Feklu/Dakephous

The kindly god of death. Who is, ironically, dead.

The Grinding

Eldritch Abomination that appears as a mass of clockwork.

Kai

A militant god of horses who overthrew the Spartan dominion of the Peloponnese.
  • Badass Army: An army of identical twins that matured from infancy in a matter of days was one of his first miracles.

Kalichara

Fishlike god of lakes.
  • Sea Monster: A big part of his army. They can also fly.

K'var

God of the Dead and Shadows, first turned up in Ethiopia.
  • Bat Out of Hell: K'var himself often appears with bat wings and ears, but they are also one of his two most sacred animals. Almost a literal "bat out of hell" is Demaris, a giant bat guardian that exists in K'vars' afterlife, the Shadowlands.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: A shadowy death god, but so far quite nice when he's not provoked.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Of a flaming variety when ticked off.

Kypselia

God of bees, war, and wisdom.

Liegou

A trickster deity associated with weather and darkness.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Associated with darkness, but a nice deity once you get to know her.
  • God Is Flawed: Liegou is a flawed deity (like all deities in the game, excluding the Grinding).

Merchan

A god of money and trade.
  • Have You Seen My God?: Has been silent for a long time, though the popularity of his currency keeps him alive.
  • Heroic Dolphin: His sacred animal, used to guide merchant ships out of storms and rescue sailors

Mote-Maiyeisha

Goddess of undeath.
  • Creepy Child: She takes the form of a small child. Who wears human bones and experiments with corpses.
  • Gratuitous Princess: She is referred to as the Princess of Death.

Nabirye

Goddess of the arts, particularly music. Somehow also picked up an association with peace.

Nembus

God of dreams.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: He is originally introduced as a dark deity in the game, despite having a dual nature where there's a 'light side' yet to be portrayed.
  • Dreaming of Things to Come: This is how he warned his prophet's family of impending doom awaiting their city, orchestrated by a NPC deity called Deora.
  • Dream Weaver: He has the ability to create dreams, also often referred to in the game as 'Dreamdancer' or 'Knitter of Dreams'.
  • Dream Within a Dream: Basically Nembus now has power to create something akin to Inception's version of realistic 'Dream within a Dream' sequences.
  • Talking in Your Dreams: He can communicate with his subjects via dreams and the realm of the subconscious.
  • Vision Quest: What his prophet experienced when they first interacted.

Ollphéist

God of the wilderness and stories.
  • The Beastmaster: Forest animals are loyal to it.
  • Burn the Witch!: Oddly enough, averted. Ollphéist's prophet was accused of being a witch, but he wasn't burned. He was dismembered instead...but he came back.
  • Don't Go in the Woods: Currently attempting to avert this, by making its worshipers less afraid of nature.
  • Full-Boar Action: Ollphéist's first symbolic animal.
  • Gaia's Vengeance: Ollphéist's main deal; it feels that it must fight for nature (in particular, woods and forests).
  • Pig Man: Ollphéist talks to its people through a pig head growing out of a magical oak tree in the middle of a village.
  • When Trees Attack: Ollphéist's only big power at the moment is to control trees.

Orubashi

A god of darkness and justice.

Semaru

God of the Moon, Nature, and Cycles.
  • Super-Speed: His first (and only miracle so far) was making his prophet an exceptionally fast runner.

Syniad

God of inspiration and creativity.
  • Cold Flames: Light without heat is a symbol of Syniad. Because of this, fireflies are also sacred to Syniad.
  • The Muse: Both a muse himself and a creator of muses.

Terron

God of earth, stone, and soil.
  • Golem: Primary soldier and work force.
  • Hidden Elf Village: Rules a small isolated kingdom surrounded by desert, made self-sufficient by divine crop growth.

Thekasios

God of the sea and storms.
  • Elemental Embodiment: Thekasios' avatars are always made out of water, as are his angelic servants.

Thoumm

God of luck, weather, and fertility.

Yam-Apep

God of truth and magic.

    NPC gods

Darius

God king of Persia (well, demi-god actually).
  • Fallen Hero: Presumably was once a just and noble ruler. That changed when he met Lysso.
  • Villainous BSoD: When Orubashi's troops closed in on him, they found him weeping as he devoured the soul of his favorite wife (the last of a trail of victims). He let them kill him at that point.

Lysso

One of the earliest NPC gods introduced. Has repeatedly screwed over various people, including the Italians, Thekasios and the Five. Also known as Kuriosolinus (Lysso is more of an alias).

Thumos

A god of rage born in Sparta when Kai defeated their armies.
  • Kill the God: Was killed by Lysso, resulting in the first Breach Zone expansion.

Tiamat

Monstrous goddess of destruction and primordial chaos.
  • Don't Wake the Sleeper: Known for taking long naps after destructive rampages, which most people would prefer she stay in.
  • I'm Melting!: When she attacked Crete, she covered the land in ooze that caused breakdown of the bodies of mortals. This is about as horrific as it sounds.
  • Kaiju: She's strongly implied to be a reference to them, including quotes from Pacific Rim.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: Well, Dragon/Goddess/Monster of Mass Destruction. Her arrival in the Aegean turned the ocean into a primordial wasteland, killing millions on Crete alone.
  • Reality Warper: When she attacked Crete, her mere rage caused the surrounding seas to revert to their original state of primordial chaos.

Apotheosis II: Kudekuu Lewli

Apotheosis III: The Darkest Dawn

Apotheosis IV: Rising Suns

Apotheosis V: Cults & Empires

Apotheosis: Gods of Bronze

    Original PC gods

Abarakku-Bulu

Hailing from the Khabur Valley, Abarakku-Bulu is currently the largest active PC god. They are within Assyria's sphere of influence, but currently are doing their best to extricate themselves from Ashur's grasp.
  • David Versus Goliath: Fought Ullikummi (albeit not directly) and forced him to retreat. Ullikummi is a stone titan the size of a mountain that slaughtered far more powerful Hittite gods and could crush entire cities.
  • Defector from Decadence: Got sick of Ashur's rulership, and sent dreams of Ashur's retreat from Tiamat to the Assyrian army on the advice of Suen. This took him from one of Ashur's favored subject gods to an enemy.
  • Living Statue: He is one, and his main miracle is building species of them—crab bricks, goats and cows, elephants, mice, giant turtles, and salamanders that transport water.

Aplu-Rapādu

Banaat-Hanaan

Chaetas

Worm god of the Levant. Originated in Byblos but was driven from the city by Uridimmu's interference. Initially neutral during the Assyrian-Hittite War, but ended up siding with the Assyrians. Killed by Izimtu for this; cause of death unknown by anyone else.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Had giant larval hulks.
  • La RĂ©sistance: Wanted to be this to the power structure of Byblos, but they got bogged down fighting Uridimmu and then the Hittites, and it didn't take off.
  • Tunnel King: He made a lot of them and could move the entrances. Helped turn the tide of the Hittite-Assyrian War by tunneling into the Mesopotamian underworld and releasing an army of undead.

Change

Fedelmid

A feline god from Elam who has begun domesticating the caracal. Currently pushed into Susa.

Gennaiodoro

Izimtu

Kigal-Esh

Kinu Emu

A god of change and adaptability from the Kaskan territories. Has nothing to do with emus.
  • Gods Need Prayer Badly: Much to his regret. His followers never really cared about him, so when his prophet was indisposed as a side effect of Assyria rallying the Kaskans, he faded out of existence.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: The second PC god to die.

Lugal-Azaz

  • Born Lucky: In universe, seen that way. Elam is enemies with Mesopotamia, but Lugal-Azaz was able to visit Ishtar, Marduk, and Ninurta without being wounded, and despite all three being hostile to him (and Elam as a whole). Later, flew with Nasitu-Neb into a giant cloud of darkness that Ahriman summoned, stopped the daevas invasion of the Elamite underworld, and was again entirely unharmed by the end.

Nasitu-Neb

Nebu-Abratu

Otera

Unlike most gods, Otera is aiming to be a monster. Currently in Greece founding theater.
  • Boxed Crook: Artemis (referred to as Ala in this time) recruited him at arrowpoint and made him act as her enforcer. He later went AWOL and Ala elected not to interfere.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Kretheus, king of Lasos, attempted to challenge Otera to single combat. Kretheus is a normal human. Otera is a giant flying firebreathing monster. It did not go well for him.
  • Kaiju: What he is, really.
  • Playing with Fire: He can use it as a breath weapon, illustrated rather dramatically when he burned alive a king who had stolen from a temple of Artemis, then mocked him.

Rajul Tamaae

Ro-Hash

  • We Hardly Knew Ye: First player god to die, and he only had one worshiper and lasted for a few turns.

Sa Kakkabtin Subkatim

Tzusegemor

Uridimmu

A cynical (in the ancient Greek sense of the term) god from the Levant. One of the most powerful PC gods, though a tier below Aplu-Rapādu and Sa Kakkabtin Subkatim, and spreading rapidly.
  • Beware of Vicious Dog: Anyone who encounters him would do well to heed this advice.
  • Our Werebeasts Are Different: The Followers of the Burning Paw, one of the three cults that worships Uridimmu, are weredogs.
  • Summon Bigger Fish: Cut a deal with Yam to kill the Baal Zephon. In the resulting chaos from Yam's subsequent invasion of the Levant, retreated to the desert.
  • The Cynic: Promotes simple living, disrespects the king, and rebukes other gods. Also executed an extremely successful reign of terror across the Levant.
    Important NPC Gods

Ashur

Militaristic ruler of Assyria. Widely feared across the Near East.

Baal

Khumban

Ishtar

Marduk

Nammu

Narundi

Yam

Chief rival of Baal, and slayer of the Baal Zephon, who he partnered with Uridimmu to lure out. Killed by Dagan and Pidray.
