Part Three: Revenge of the Paper

Several things happened when we last left off Kirby and his friends. However, most of the previous part was Filler. Poor little Kirby was forced to sit through an overly long tutorial for two thirds of the video. The last third was devoted to a battle with Green, with Ear Rape music playing in the background.

Chapter one out of ??, part three out of six.

Dear lord. After the lame intro which I have already discussed twice, the orange Star Kid gives Kirby a pair of Bounce Shoes (which are just glorified Moon Shoes, if anyone remembers them). He/she also tells everybody that the next star kid is in some house at Flip Valley.

We move on to the next area, which is thankfully not a White Void Room for a change. There is still not much, but at least the animator is going somewhere! We then get one and a half minutes of "gameplay" or whatever is going on. Blue knows about switches, which helps Kirby destroy bushes, continue his quest, and ruin the environment. Kirby FacePlants into an "invisible" block which we can all obviously see, and Blue helps Kirby find more clues. I might as well call them...

Blue's Clues

YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAHHH!!!

Going back on subject, Kirby and Blue continue to have fun with switches, with Blue expressing Dull Surprise.

This leads the two down a pipe into a very poorly lighted area, where they meet a ghost while Blue continues to act like a Sympathetic Sue. Yes, this does lead to another battle.

Blue battles by turning on the lights constantly (thanks to the fact that He Knows About Timed Hits) while Kirby attacks. This continues for another minute, with Twink occasionally interrupting to continue the overly long tutorial.

Kirby wins again, and right after the battle, Blue suggests to break the lamp. Kirby does this, only to reveal that a very Off-Model Watt had been hiding in there for no real reason whatsoever this entire time. Watt decides to improve the video's lighting, because even a terrible animator's fan made characters know that Light Is Good. Kirby has also lost his ability to talk between the first part and this part. Now I know that the moral of this part is that bad crossovers damage your vocal chords! Kirby allows Watt to join his party nevertheless, trashes Blue, and the story continues. Yes, even Kirby realizes that Blue is a Sympathetic Sue.

Kirby and his friends go back to Flip Valley, where Watt uncovers a switch with a familiar symbol on it. Twink even lampshades this. Anyways, the switch allows Kirby to switch to a 3-D perspective, Super Paper Mario style. Of course Kirby abuses this, after all, this time, our hero has no time limit! Anyway, Kirby breaks into the house using a SLEDGE-HAMMER (sorry, I really wanted an excuse to reference that), and everyone continues to look for clues. Blue's Clues, that is! The first clue they find is a P-Switch hidden with a bunch of vases, revealing a door while abusing iMovie's transitions. Let's write that down in our handy-dandy notebook! Back to the story, Kirby meets Mimi. She claims that Kirby found her secret house, while Twink claims to think of her as familiar, despite the fact that in the Paper Mario series, Twink and Mimi have never met. Why does it help so much that I have actually played Paper Mario? This is corrected in the next line, thankfully. So Twink decides annoy her so much that her head explodes. Strangely though, she comes back right afterwards. The reason: she is faithful to her "orders to destroy now", and another battle starts.

This battle is just a corny version of her first battle in Super Paper Mario which lasts ALMOST TWO MINUTES, but Watt is being used as Kirby's partner. And I swear, there is Sensory Abuse at the 9 minute mark.

Kirby wins, Mimi's head explodes (for real this time), another star kid is rescued, we have a victory dance, YOU SAVED A STAR KID, abrupt ending, and a Strictly Formula ending as a whole.

What will happen next time? You must already know, but we'll make you wait until next time anyway! (Or you could just watch it on YouTube, but that wouldn't be much fun!)

One tutorial after another, with two or three in every episode...it's certainly becoming quite tedious. Even actual video games know when to space out new powers and give the player some time to play around with what they already have, usually developing the plot or at least allowing for exploration before the next ability becomes available.

...But enough about my complaints; picking apart this thing is Snickerdoodle's job, after all! Best of luck with Part 4, and find relief in the fact that this Chapter's halfway over now.
