Is there a trope for this item?
- Says Nightcrawler's Swashbuckler uniform, complete with cutlass.
Due to this being a game with serious Archive Panic, who might be up for creating a Recap page for this? After all, the game takes place all over New York, with villains rising, falling, entering, leaving, trading sides, joining up, revealing as the man behind the man and so forth. It might help us for our department to get an actual recap going.
Lord Eric Wu, Grandmaster of the order of Troping. Hide / Show RepliesWell, if someone wants to start one, the Wikia wiki has a near-complete archive of all dialogues on it.
Edited by 216.99.32.43http://forum.playdom.com/showthread.php?280881 There's a decent bit of interesting info in these developer Q&A thingys. (Like an explanation of how the Meat Scroll trend got started.) Think some of it might be incorporatable into the pages here?
Edited by 216.99.32.45We probably should start a project to Entry Pimp this, since the main page has lots of examples plus any character pages which collect work titles, yet there's only 12 wicks to the page.
Hide / Show RepliesSounds like a good idea. I actually posted a wick leading here from Level-Up Fill-Up last night, but I agree that this page could definitely use some more pimping. I'll see what I can do for it later today.
Huh what who now?OK, as the first step I went through and wicked the game on all of the character pages with some sort of work list to add to. Including Deadpool's, which was... interesting. That gets us up to 26 wicks.
Edited by ArkadyDarellMay I suggest clean-up also of entries from the main page? I made some reductions in the YMMV page because it looked very cluttered with all the "too much information" details that made it look more like from Game FA Qs. Besides, with all the new incoming gear, chances are those lists will be longer and longer and old "overpowered ones" will be obsolete anyway.
Hide / Show RepliesWe probably should finish deleting the character-specific entries that already got ported to the sheet, too.
With the recent release of chapter 12, do you guys think we should now include Peninsula of Power Leveling, particularly referring to chapter 12 mission 2? A lot of players seem to like that place due to both it's large experience bonus as well having a boss roulette AND an epic boss roulette for the low cost of 20 energy per run and Kitty Pryde.
At 3 boss roulettes and 3 epic boss roulettes per full bar of energy, this leads to a very large amount of chances to drop command points in addition to efficiently leveling up newly purchased heroes. For comparison, the next most efficient farming spot allows for 1 boss roulette and 1 epic boss roulette per 1 full bar of energy + 10 energy and Storm.
Or does something like that fall under some other trope?
Do you think we need a Characters page? I'm tempted to start one, but there are so many characters already and more on the way
Hide / Show RepliesWouldn't it just mostly duplicate the character sheets for all the characters elsewhere on the wiki, admittedly?
How about just using the character sheets for character-specific gameplay-related tropes. As for their bios, a link to the main character sheet for each entry will do to avoid duplicates.
Might work. There are some personality differences for some characters too, now that I look at it more.
...I'm not sure what the point was if you weren't even going to minimally start the page. I certainly don't really have any idea where you were going with the idea.
Ha! It was about midnight when I put it up. Give me time to move the character-specific tropes from the main page over there.

OK, fair enough, but just remember there is no deadline on making a page. :) Sometimes it's easier to just wait until you have everything together.
Should we add images? I think I can get the sprite pics from the wiki down to around 10K or less apiece.
Also, the highups have gotten annoying about commenting out "Zero Context Examples", so we might have to work on fleshing out everything. (Sigh.)
Edited by ArkadyDarellI'm working on filling out the examples. Adding images might not be worth the hassle, especially since you'd have to keep it updated every time they release new content.
Do you think we need a section on significant villains/villainous teams?

Well, I tried adding images to the Bruisers section (since they have the least characters) to see how it looks for now. I don't mind the hassle; I'm more concerned about the formatting. (It's annoying there seems to be no way to clear the float if the image is to the right of a trope list that isn't long enough...)
I also wonder if we should just port the info in the "Alliance" section over to the character sheet and link to the sheet as that section.
And I was pondering that myself, making a list for the mini bosses and major bosses.
Edited by ArkadyDarellI like the images. Let me see if the wrap effect looks better with fuller bios and a larger font size. What are you going to do with Fury, Hill, and Stark?
Edit: Okay, all of the characters with in-game bios have been edited.

Edited by CharisetI had been thinking we should use the full bios from the game myself, so I like it. Let me see about filling in some of the other sections with images.
And, I was planning on just using their dialogue picture sprites. They're actually almost already narrow enough to fit the wiki guidelines.
At this point I think there's a few characters who have more tropes here than they do on their own comic pages...
I feel like maybe we should break up the Villains section by faction or something.
I'm trying to think of the right trope for Phoenix. She seems pretty calm and composed most of the time, and not at all dangerous. But then you see her as one of the Phoenix Five, or offhandedly dropping a comment on Tony that the Phoenix is going to come incinerate Earth, and you realize how much power she has, and she's suddenly terrifying. What's the best trope for someone who is far more powerful than she (usually) lets on?
Hide / Show RepliesThere's this list of tropes to sift through: Hidden Badass
But Beware the Nice Ones is probably the obvious one to me, at least.
At the end of Spec Ops 6, mision 3, Stark said something like "Double the summer's Brothers. Double the fun." The "Double the fun" part, could it be a Shout Out to MLP "The fun has been doubled"?
Edited by saske1 Hide / Show RepliesThe more likely reference is: http://www.wrigley.com/global/brands/doublemint.aspx https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iboOB0JfjTw (And I probably just dated myself. But yeah, it's probably Older Than You Think.)
Edited by ArkadyDarellOk,on a sidenote, What if we divide the main page by chapters and general tropes of the game?
I don't think we have enough chapter/mission-specific tropes yet to worry about it... maybe see what happens when Season 2 comes out.
What if you don't have all of the heroes needed for all of the deploys in a mission? Can you still unlock the epic boss? Do you need to unlock all of the heroes for every deploy in a level to get to the epic boss that you need to defeat for the mission on special operations? I only have an hour left to get Valkyrie and I'm on the very last mission before I'll unlock her and need to fight the epic boss to complete it. I don't have Shadowcat or Wolverine so I can't do all of the level's deploys.
Edited by doomsday524 He who has a why to live can bear almost any how -Neitzsche (I know) Hide / Show RepliesYou need to either fight the boss or pay the 25 gold to skip the task. There's no other way around it.
I'm trying to come up with a trope to sum up the Spec Ops 3 plot. Does Divided We Fall qualify?
Huh what who now? Hide / Show RepliesSeems to be what the Avengers think of the situation, at least. I'll add it to the entry.
Huh what who now?
should we divide the tropes by seasons or chapters and general tropes now?
