I'm wondering whether it'd be a good idea to put the World Cup editions into a separate recap page (like what was done with the Super Bowl). It'd also provide a spot to pull all those tidbits for each tournament in the Trivia page.

Removed this:

  • Arguably Diego Maradona's second goal against England in 1986 beats them all, in which he ran all alont through the English side of the field leaving behind six players (including goalkeeper Peter Shilton) all by himself before scoring.

As much as I admire that goal, you could easily make the case for so many other things, such as whole 1970 World Cup (the Brazilian team and the Germany vs Italy semi-final in particular) or the 1974-1978 Dutch team (despite them not winning!) or the amazing victory of the Uruguay team in the 1950 final (even though it's a Tear Jerker) or <insert example here> that to really argue that single moment is the crowning one is a little too much.

Should I remind you that Maradona's goal has been declared the most beautiful goal in history?

Added it back (into the Awesome page) with the addendum that it's the Goal of the Century.

Perhaps we should add a Character section, only that the characters in question are the national teams (at least the regular ones like Brazil, Germany, and so on...) that take part in the World Cup. It would certainly help to somewhat de-clutter the main trope pages.

What do you think?

There was a Character tab but it was cut by a mod. Don't count on seeing it back.

Any tropes pertaining a team in particular can go into the other subpages.

And this is relevant to the page how?

It is sometimes an appropriate response to reality to go insane.

Would Germany's 4-0 victory over Argentina count as a Curb Stomp battle? It's not as big as the other examples, but still, Argentina has a very good team and was in the Quarterfinals.

4-0 is not unheard of. Now, 7-1 in a semifinal, that's a Curb Stomp Battle.

I think Germany's victory by 4-0 over Argentina counts as a Curb Stomp Battle due to the fact that's it's Argentina.

Quag is right: it's certainly a much more decisive result than you'd expect from the respective strengths of both sides.

Regarding WTH, Costuming Department?: Which team was it that dyed its collective hair orange in 1994 (or was it 1998)? I thought it was Cameroon or Morocco, but Google image search seems to indicate otherwise.

Romania dyed their hair bleached blond (not orange) in 1998.
