Ace Attorney section, ho boy... Aside from cleaning up unnessecary comments:

The first one. I've seen much of the "shipping fodder" for this particular pairing and it can be divided in 3 categories: hazy, out of context and bullshit.
  • "Thanks to you, I am saddled with unnecessary... feelings."
Said "feelings" were explained 2 lines later and had nothing to do with love.
  • In 3-5, Phoenix is clearly concerned with Edgeworth's well-being, even when Maya is in a very dangerous situation. (The concern is very much mutual - Edgeworth charters a private jet to see Phoenix when he hears that Phoenix is in hospital.)
The line makes it look like he wasn't worried about Maya at all. He was, even before worrying about Edge. The line about spoiler is a bit more complicated. First of all Edge didn't just hea that Phoenix is in hospital, he heard he was dying. Obviously he was concerned.
  • Then there's the fact Phoenix acted like a betrayed girlfriend when Edgeworth disappeared in Justice For All...
that is so hazy that i'm not even sure how to reply. Phoenix was pissed, true. After he spent years trying to save him it seemed like he commited suicide over uncertain situation, of course Phoenix was pissed. Add this to the fact that poisoning and betrayal are two things he hates most, and him being mad at Edge makes perfect sense. How is that Shipping fodder?
  • Also in Justice For All, Phoenix more or less admits that he's only surviving the extreme stress of case 2-4 because Edgeworth is on his side. He's also got a mid-trial revelation about how much he trusts Edgeworth, and after the trial you can express these feelings by giving Edgeworth Franziska's whip.
Edge is his friend, that was always the case. Of course they trust each other. As for Franzy's whip it was meant to symbolize how they both helped Phoenix.
  • And speaking of the whip, Edgeworth then gives it back to Franziska in a post-credit scene that ship teases them. Edgeworth talks about them standing "side by side", and it's also the first time Franziska shows any emotion besides whipping rage. This scene also makes Phoenix sound a bit like Franziska's love rival. The ship tease runneth over - if you're not reading the relationship between Edgeworth and Franziska in the conventional Like Brother and Sister sense.
You mean in the sense that was blatanly stated in the games? That's Shipping Goggles if i've ever seen one.
  • Phoenix and Maya also have quite a bit of this. The most notable being how Phoenix is particularly emotional whenever Maya's in trouble (See: 2-2, 2-4, 3-5). Pearl's Shipper on Deck attitude certainly helps.
Phoenix and Maya are Platonic Life-Partners explicitly stated to be Like Brother and Sister. Of course he's emotional when she's in trouble. Doesn't change the fact that ship thoroughly sank in T&T.
  • There's a small statement in Trials and Tribulations in which Iris actually Dahlia Hawthorne being channeled by Maya, and no doubt trying to hurt emotionally hurt Phoenix asks Phoenix if Maya is his girlfriend. Phoenix responds with "...!", not a denial.
In context Phoenix was just trying to figure out why the hell Iris tries to frame Maya, he had neither time nor patience to get into debate about his current relationship status. If he did that would've been textbook example of Skewed Priorities.
  • Some dedicated "Narumayo" shippers have compiled extensive lists of the teases throughout the trilogy.
First list goes to thoroughly analyse their relationship and in the end explicitly states that they're not romantic. The second one doesn't exist.
  • The third game served to further fuel Phoenix/Edgeworth and Phoenix/Maya, and to make things more confusing, they then threw in Iris to boot. She once was in a relationship with Phoenix while impersonating her sister, Dahlia, and Phoenix once put his life on the line to protect her by drinking what might be poison, is also teased and appears resolved at the end of the game...except that she seems to disappear during the seven-year timeskip between Trials and Tribulations and Apollo Justice. ...well, so do Maya and Edgeworth, though.
The part about Iris seems more or less correct. The part about other two ships... not so much. Like i said Phoenix/Edge were never trully teased in the first place, and game didn't change that. Edge appeared for one case, when he was defending Phoenix's Ex, and his one condition for doing this was that Iris sorts things out with Phoenix. If anyone can tell me how exacly is this supposed to come across as Shipping Fuel i'm all ears. Phoenix/Maya wasn't teased in that game, it was sank in that game. Shippers are in denial, they have a right to. More info on Ship Sinking page. Rewrote that part a little to remove Word Cruft and invalid information.
  • And after their experience with Phoenix/Edgeworth, in Apollo Justice, they seem to be teasing Apollo/Klavier with Klavier's very first line! ("I'm used to being inspected by the ladies... but I admit this is the first time I've felt this way with a man!")
    • To say nothing of Apollo/Vera? (Apollo: "(I feel like a teenager on a first date!)")
First one seems legit, but Apollo/Vera? Seriously? Once again pretty clear Shipping Goggles.
  • Naturally, once Edgeworth gets into the frame, the Ho Yay runs more rampant than ever, as several other characters start talking about it. Heck, even a vicious murderer almost incapable of feeling emotions mentions that they are "close enough to argue".
  • Despite not appearing in the game, Maya's one letter to Phoenix was enough to revive him from a very bad slump near the end of the game.
Again Shipping Goggles. It's well known fact that each pair is friends, and both entries are meant to be seen as friendship, not romance. Phoenix teasing Edge about not having girlfriend in the next game puts final nail in the ships coffin.

Haven't touched Apollo/Athena, because i absolutely hate that ship, and i could't possibly check it without bias. Someone might want to take a look at it to check.
