Key visual novels are available. Especially now that Little Busters is released on steam, I think it's time to update the visual novel section.

I took care of this update by narrowing the genre entry to exclude Visual Arts. Hope that helps.

"The fifth game in the Ace Attorney series, Dual Destinies, will be available exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS eShop and won't see a cartridge release in NTSC/UC countries. Bad enough that the 3DS has Region Coding, but how about countries that don't have access to the eShop and are getting NTSC/UC 3DS consoles?"

So... Which countries are "boned" exactly ? Because Europe did get the dematerialized version of Dual Destinies (although it was not translated from English). So is this referring to another region, or is this just an outdated/erroneous information (in which case we should change it) ?

Only these countries in the world have that online service available. It excludes the Caribbean, Central American and South American countries, as well as numerous European and Asian countries, and all of Africa except South Africa.

Ooooh, I misunderstood that as "countries that don't have access to the NTSC/UC eShop" instead of "countries that don't have access to the eShop". Okay, that DOES make sens then, sorry ^^'

No problem. =)

Too bad I happen to live in one of those countries that don't have the service available (which means No DLC From Pikmin Or Mario Kart For Me).....

From the Key entry:

"Takahiro Baba, the executive director of Visual Art's, went as far as telling consumers who import their games legally to "go fuck yourself and play your own games"."

This is a pretty strong statement to make; can you please provide a source?

I was tempting to remove it, but I didn't want to do it without being absolutely sure. I myself was trying to find any source (I even Googled "takahiro baba + go fuck yourself and play your own games", no dice). You should try the same search if you feel luckier. If no source is found, then it should be removed.

Just because TV Tropes doesn't need citations, doesn't mean tropers can make up stuff, or distort or exaggerate claims.

You know what? For now it's best to just delete this. If someone can find a direct source, it can be re-added. Until then, people have to understand that TV Tropes does not allow made-up information.

  • You'd think that someone would get on the ball and finally release Zero Wing in the United States for a console. But to this date, the console versions have never come out in the United States, and the only place the infamous Good Bad Translation can be found is in the very limited release European MegaDrive version.

Zero Wing wasn't a hotly anticipated release when it first came out. It spawned the legendary-tier Memetic Mutation long after the original developer died, and this game falls under Keep Circulating the Tapes since it's been rereleased nowhere.

Um... the example on Rapelay seems to be somewhat questionable. In one sentence it states that (paraphrasing) people imported it just to be outraged by it, so it's no export for you. In the next section, the infamous Bill what-was-its-number-again is invoked and discussed, and the whole discussion goes in the direction of "certain groups are working against these games". As a counter-point, the last sentence mentions that posessing this game may in fact be a felony (in the USA, I guess?).

Now, I can see that the fact that one cannot import these games is relevant to this page, but the way in which this is formulated seems to be a case of "these Moral Guardians will not allow me to play my favoriate hard-core eroge, and the government even agrees with them". Am I overly sensitive here, or should this example be re-formulated to state the facts ("these games cannot be export since yadda yadda very explicit content yadda yadda possibly illegal in the USA yadda yadda" or something)? Right now, it might fall foul of the Rule Of Cautious Editing Judgement and/or No Lewdness.

I don't think reorganizing this page was a hot idea.

Organization by name doesn't really work when you consider that Franchises and games can have different names depending on region which will lead to issues in the long run.

Also, doing so by chrnonology isn't going to help much either since some very effective examples clump franchises together like in the case of Final Fantasy/Kingdom hearts.

The page should've been put back the way it was and stuck to organizing by the date it was added.

It would save us a lot of naming order related edit warring between tropers and users of differing regions.

Also, there are examples that can go in more than one page, like the Mother and Fire Emlblem series since it is Nintendo, who has an entry in another folder.

Does this article need cleaning up? Should it be sorted by system and then game or just by name of game?

Um... I remember a game called A.S.H.: Archaic Sealed Heat being announced for the DS early in the DS's lifespan, mentioned in Nintendo Power a couple years later, and then dropped off the radar. Was this actually a case of No Export For You, only being released in Japan, or did they just cancel it?

BOOM. Ah, frig, the fourth wall was broken AGAIN. Hide / Show Replies
