No, that describes more The Villain Makes the Plot.
And while you could say that Anakin is the linking element to the series as a whole, the thing is for 2.75 movies Anakin wasn't a villain.

Looks like this might not be a valid example, so I pulled it here:
- The Legend of Zelda has several Zeldas and Links, but only one Ganon, who will appear despite evidence to the contrary.
- Well, there may have been at least two. Also, there are several games where Ganon isn't even part of the story, and the series is named after the Damsel in Distress. Ganon links some of the games together, but for the most part the series is about Link, not Ganon.

I think this needs a bit of work. The title is villain based franchise, i.e., a series where the villain is the main focus. The entries are more geared along the lines of, "This series uses the same villain more than twice."
Removed:
The Magic the Gathering game doesn't seem to be defined by a recurring villain. The "villain" isn't even apparent when you play the game. It's in the backstory developed by the spin-off materials.
