What exactly is the difference between this trope and Mental Time Travel? Is it specifically changing things in one's past, or reliving everything rather than just one specific moment?

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIs this supposed to be a fanfic recs page or just a listing, because of lot of these are very unprofessional for listings, clearly written like recs.
Always expect the worst and you can only be pleasantly surprised. What about Life is Strange? Her ability to look at photographs is similar to Evan's power in Butterfly Effect.
Hey. For reference, these used to be divided between Fanfic and Canon metafolders. This is awesome for new tropes in need of canon examples, but I think Film, TV and Literature have grown enough that splitting works well.
- Next is a film where a character effectively has this as a power.
- I thought that was Save Scumming?
- Is there a difference?
- I thought that was Save Scumming?
I've denatterfied this into a single point, but it still comes across as rather indecisive, so someone who's seen them film might want to clean it up.
Hide / Show RepliesThe ending would be the film's best example of a Peggy Sue because it's longer than any jump he can make normally. However, that's a spoiler, so... Adding tag.
Pulled:
- The Stargate SG-1 fanfiction To Return The Way I Was Before twists this by giving Daniel Jackson amnesia, making him forget everything that has happened since a particular moment on Abydos. Why this moment is never explained.
because there is no time travel, no actual mucking about in the character's past, no Stations of the Canon to be avoided, messed with, or otherwise altered. What it is is a Clip Show using Daniel's amnesia to highlight just how much his relationship with Jack changed from movieverse to just a couple seasons into the series.
At a simple glance, Harry Potter Shattered Prophecy, by Insanity Lord, does not appear to be a Peggy Sue story, just an AU.
Could someone who has read the story confirm this?
Hide / Show RepliesConsider this Word of God - Shattered Prophecy is not a Peggy Sue fic, it's an AU.
Edited by InsanityLord Ooh, lookit! A big red button with a 'Do Not Press' sign! *press*For Harry Potter, I suggest adding 'Harry Potter and the Temporal Beacon'.
The Persona 4 fic listed, "Fortune's Revolver" doesn't seem to exist. I google search for it, and all that turns up is this page. Does anyone have a link for it?
Hide / Show RepliesI think i may have found it http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5196521/1/Fortune_no_Hikari Not sure though.
Thanks for looking at least - can't believe I got a reply after half a year.
Ha, i found this page recently and look up the fic. Thought it would be nice of me to share.
There are some duplicate entries in the Naruto section. The two specifically being "Reload" and "For the Love of my Friends". There might be more in the other sections that I'm not seeing.
After seeing a lot of Korean manhwa use the term "Regressor" to refer to this archetype, I've grown to actually prefer that term, since it's unique and isn't evocative of "Mary Sue".
