I think that it probably should be significantly shortened. Maybe we should remove most of the celebrities listed other than the ones that have something especially notable about them.
I agree. Anyone can be accused of sexual harassment, and thus we can't be absolutely sure that all of the names in the Hollywood paragraph are true. Also, I really think the paragraph below it on Never Speak Ill of the Dead is incredibly unnecessary and Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment should have been applied. In particular, mentioning David Bowie and Paul Walker (who have been accused around once each) on the same level as Jimmy Savile (who has been 100% confirmed as a child molester) borders almost on Skewed Priorities.
Removed the spoiler tag from:
- Goldfinger. It's 47 years old and falls under our Handling Spoilers Statute of Limitations.
- The four Sherlock Holmes stories, as the most recent one ("The Six Napoleons") is from 1904, more than a hundred years ago, and way past the Handling Spoilers Statute of Limitations.
Deleted the following as it's not an example of the trope (no minor crime leading to a major plot).
- Silence Of The Lambs: Clarice Starling goes from performing a personality interview on a captured serial killer, to tracking down an active one.
I think the example on Hollywood sexual harassment is practically a Wall of Text.
There's so much I wish I could take back. Hide / Show Replies
