I see why you'd think that, and I don't think it really counts in your case. This is for people who think that because they have a disability, they can be a prick. Example: If I have Aspergers Syndrome, so I Kick the Dog and get away with it, and then be an Insufferable Genius on top of that (even if I'm actually more of a Know-Nothing Know-It-All).
I don't know if anyone's willing to change the trope title, considering a few tropers really don't like snowclones.
Edited by StoogebieAs a higher functioning person with Autism, I absolutely despise Sugar Motta with every fibre of my being as of reading that quote. I'm so glad she's a fictional character and not some idiot that I'm ever going to meet.
What worries me is that Glee is written by real people...
H.B. WardThat's kind of the point of her character?
You watch me, just watch me. I'm calling- I'm calling. And one day all will know...Should the Tourette Syndrome-related examples (like the Family Guy and South Park ones) really count as this trope? Tourette Syndrome isn't really a disability and most of the examples listed on this page are already on the Hollywood Tourette's page.
Very much a Berserk Button for Aspies. At least, for myself; I don't speak for others.
Edited by 216.99.32.44Okay, so we're all cool with this? We're all fully willing to admit that just because a person is disabled, their capacity for jerkassery is not? Cool.
Hide / Show RepliesYes? Being disabled does not necessarily make your personality different. If someone's a jerk, they may still be a jerk after landing in a wheelchair.
I'm not really sure what point you were trying to make.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Maybe we should rename this as "Screw Politeness, I'm Disabled."
Hide / Show RepliesPerhaps. I was wondering if there was already a trope for this, but didn't want to make a YKTTW for it, both for fear of Flame Bait and not having enough nameable examples.
To be fair, I can get like this sometimes... ... Though generally I consider it more a case of "I have to put up with your bullshit, so I'm not sparing you mine".
Heck, I originally thought this trope was all about being a dick TO disabled people (which I'm sure I don't need to note is FAR more common).
