I'm not part of the fandom so I can't tell how widespread the opinion on that page is, but personally, I loved Fleeing the Complex. However, I recognize that me loving something doesn't make it an invalid example automatically. But I do agree that Sequelitis fits better than Seasonal Rot.
Edited by ZuxtronThe main complaint in the entry is that it stripped out much of the humor by going for a more serious approach, but the evidence building upon that point is the (far more subjective) complaint that that there were jokes, they just didn't land as well. That's my interpretation of the wording, anyway. They even noted that it had memorable jokes which later games reused. Even if this is an opinion held by a large portion of the fanbase (that the humor was weaker/less present and that it made the game bad,) it nonetheless could stand to be rewritten to be stronger.
Although it mostly sounds like someone/a lot of someones decided that Fleeing the Complex was a weaker game in retrospect after playing later entries. What else does "isn't considered as great as it used to be" mean, especially taken with the ending bit about Mission? Definitely not Seasonal Rot, but is that even Sequelitis? If it held up in its day and was outshined by later titles, that's either a different trope or People Sit In Chairs imo as most people would expect (or at least hope for) creators to improve on their work with each new release.
I'm really not seeing what exactly makes the jokes in Complex "worse" than the other games. Not to mention the example starts with a variation of "Not actually that bad, but-"
Edited by Sammettik Hate sites were always doomed to fail. The only thing that can make someone hate a franchise with total certainty is the franchise itself.Maybe a very mild form of Condemned by History? Complex was released in 2015 and Mission was released in 2020, with the example being added in December of the same year, so it has been at least five years.
Edited by Shadow8411To me, this just sounds like someone complaining about things they don't like. Though I'm not in tune with the fandom to know how they feel about the game.
^^
If it isn't as well received as it used to be because Completing the Mission did everything better, that's Seinfeld Is Unfunny. If the fanbase hypes it up and outsiders end up being disappointed, that's Hype Backlash. Condemned by History is for once popular things becoming unpopular due to backlash. Either because of the works quality, it being outdated, etc.
Edited by RainbowPumpqueen Sandbox help wanted.I see. Looking at the page's edit history, the Fleeing The Complex example was under Seinfeld Is Unfunny for a time, before it was put under Seasonal Rot a few weeks later. Maybe it should go back under SIU?
Nope. It fits more on Sequelitis. Or Contested Sequel, considering I like the way Complex packs some action when it comes to Ellie.

So the YMMV page of Henry Stickmin has Seasonal Rot in it for “Fleeing the Complex”. The main problem that I have with the entry is its wrong use of a trope (it would be much more appropriate to use Sequelitis for it) and I haven’t heard of anyone else noting the issues listed on the page. Does that make it good for deletion or should some steps be taken before that to see if that should happen or not?
