Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Then cut the re-added example. That user should get banned.
"I SHALL UNIFY THE WORLD! FROM ALPHA TO OMEGA... BOW DOWN TO ME!!!"That's not an edit war, though. Nobody added the same thing twice or removed the same thing twice.
^^Please do not pseudo-mod. It is not nice.
I'm pretty sure MEH has a TRS.
Edited by SkyCat32 Your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.^ Yes, and the discussion led to a new set of rules being established in order to curb misuse. Unfortunately, I don't know much about that work, so I can't say whether the example is valid.
Does Examples Are Not Arguable apply to YMMV, though? I thought those tropes were subjective by definition, given that they document general audience reactions.
Edited by TantaMontyExamples Are Not Arguable seems more like wiki policy and etiquette rather than a trope or a YMMV topic though.
First of all, yes, that's an edit war. hifo added the example, it was removed, hife readded it (with the weasel words removed, but it's still the same example).
Second, Examples Are Not Arguable applies to YMMV too. YMMV items still have some requirements that need to be met for an example to be valid.
As for the example, no idea if it is valid since I am not familiar with the work, but IF it is valid, then the indentaton needs fixing.
The debated entry:
- The Captain, Lyria and Vyrn crossed it when they let Lobelia and Nier into the crew despite [[ProtagonistCenteredMorality knowing how evil they are]].
Moral Event Horizon HAS to be an intentional effort to established a character as irredeemably evil. The Captain, Lyria and Vyrn are the heroes and still portrayed as such. Objective misuse.
Shall I Cut it?
Examples Are Not Arguable applies to YMMV, not in the sense that they're definitely either there or not, but in the sense that it's YMMV, of course your mileage varies, and pointing it out is just Word Cruft.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing. Its still an Edit War though. The same trope with only a few changes has been re-added by the same troper who first added it.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I know nothing about the work—I only removed it because the example was brought up in the Moral Event Horizon cleanup thread—but if the characters in question are portrayed as heroes, it fails the "Must be intentional by the narrative and only applies to intentional villains" criteria and should be cut.
Edited by Kevjro7Cut the entry per MEH cleanup and PM'd hifo about it. Let us know if the problem persists.
Edited by Ferot_Dreadnaught^ Did you include a link to the criteria in your PM?
~Malleo Weegee, it's not your call to decide who should be banned. Moderators can decide for themselves whether the user should face a ban.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope Report^^I let them know it now has to be intentional so their still being portrayed as heroes disqualifies. The change in portrayal criteria is being re-debated so not sure what more to send them as it might be outdated in a few weeks.
hifo added a Moral Event Horizon example to Granblue Fantasy's YMMV page, Kevjro 7 removed it on account of Examples Are Not Arguable, then hifo readded the same example but removed the mention of "it could be argued" in the example.
