Yes, that is misuse. They are not characters and they are not part of an ensemble.

Yes, those are misuse. Like homogenized said, not only are those examples entire species, they're not even characters and can't qualify as EDH.

I think it would be a good idea. I can go either way on these entries as I'm not familiar enough with the trope to judge, btw.

I do believe that there's a difference between classifying a group of individual characters as EDH and classifying a group of identical copies, that have no individual characteristics, as EDHs. With that said, as things stand both these groups are invalid entries, and so I support what others have said here.
